re: Lazarus: 2015 Hyundai Creta SX+ 1.6L Petrol. EDIT: Now sold!

Took my family and Lazarus out to introduce my thoroughly modern Hyundai to the ancient but majestic Chitrakote Falls. A Sunday thoroughly well-spent with my wonderful steed, family and the awesome falls.

Only 35 kms away from my city, it was a nice little run to and fro, which delighted my little 3-year-old Princess to no end, while Lazarus met the mighty Chitrakote waterfalls for the very first time!

Lazarus parked at the entrance of the Falls section & the resort nearby.

ODO has crossed 900 kms, and with a touring trip scheduled for tomorrow, I might be crossing the 1000-kms mark by tomorrow evening itself.

I should run through my second tankful as well.

Will post an update on both fronts, including mileage for this duration too.

Ciao!

Lazarus: 2015 Hyundai Creta SX+ 1.6L Petrol - Discovering my true call

Ravenavi, nice photos. Nice you are enjoying your ride.
Pls remove the tape on the bonnet. It will cause you a lot of grief if that red colour runs on to your white paint. I have known a lot of instances where this has happened and no amount of detailing has been able to remove the red stain.

I am little touchy on the detailing bit.

I liked your shot from the restraunt balcony. I always try and sit in a place where I can see my car parked. Lol.

I concur with Arjun on his suggestion on removing the ribbon and more so due the colour of the car. Exact same thought that crossed my mind whole looking at the pictures. Seems you have enjoyed the trip. Good luck...:-)

re: Lazarus: 2015 Hyundai Creta SX+ 1.6L Petrol. EDIT: Now sold!

Exact thougts about th ribbon. My brother in law had it on his white city's bonnet and covered a highway trip of around 700kms. Dust particles entrapped between ribbon and bonnet surface scratched the surface as the airflow pressure acted on the ribbon while on the move. He had to get it rubbed and removed at HASS.

re: Lazarus: 2015 Hyundai Creta SX+ 1.6L Petrol. EDIT: Now sold!

Nice snaps, RavenAvi sir, with your Lazarus and cute princess

I must also thank you for all the details you have shared, starting from tidbits during pre-launch. It has been both informative and enlightening for a layman like me. Much appreciated sir !

I'm also looking to buy Petrol SX+ in the next few months (once my wife has come back from abroad) and I've been closely following all the details/nuances you have been sharing on your Lazarus.

As I stated in the Creta-(p)review thread, I found gear-shift to be on the harder side when I did a TD yesterday. Display-vehicle felt much the same too.

Since, everywhere on the net, I hear that Creta's gear-shift is butter smooth and this has been my experience too, with my (now 10 year old) other Hyundai Product, Getz, I'm a bit confused as to if I missed any trick. SA did point me to the gear-knob button, that needs to be pressed for shifting to reverse gear. Now, I'm wondering, was I to press that during forward gear-shifts too.

I'm anyway planning to take a few more TDs in the coming week or so, so that I can give accurate feedback to my wife which will in turn help her make a right choice

Any inputs from you or veteran bhpians will be very much appreciated !

Regards,
Prasanna.

re: Lazarus: 2015 Hyundai Creta SX+ 1.6L Petrol. EDIT: Now sold!

You need to get rid of that ribbon. 900kms with that ribbon rubbing against the paint would have scratched the bonnet. You will get a v shaped scratch and the clear coat getting scrubbed a little.

The first thing upon delivery should be to remove the ribbon. I usually give it to back to the showroom.

Yes. in fact when I had gone to take delivery of my Xcent, the showroom manager himself had told me that it is better that we do not even put the ribbons and even if we do for taking pictures, we should take them off as they have got complaints regarding paint being affected in a very short duration.

Quite surprising that they do not mention this to everyone at time of delivery. Hope it has not done any damage to the Lazarus.

Thank you so much, guys.

Took the ribbons off earlier in the morning today, before I headed out. Checked the ribbon closely too, and it wasn't the typical thin one available in the markets, but a slightly thicker piece customised with the dealer's name imprinted on it.

I also checked the bonnet closely for any red smears or scratch marks, but couldn't make out any. Just to be safe, I polished the entire bonnet using Colin's Spray and shined it nicely before my trip.

Lazarus's first tankful has yielded 14.44 kmpl so far, nashok. LINK

He is currently running on his second tankful now, which is seeing a lot more of in-city driving than the first tankful.

Will post an update in a few days once he runs through.

Must have been a problem with the TD vehicle.

The gear shifts are very smooth and slot in easily, except the 2nd gear and the reverse gear. Check my previous posts in this thread for details on the same.

Nope, the gear "lifter" needs to be pressed upwards only for slotting the car into reverse. Pull the "lifter" up, slot the gear as if you would slot into the 1st gear, and that's it! Reverse is engaged, a small beep sounds, and the reverse camera display starts showing on the AVN screen.

For all other shifts (from 1st to 6th) you shift normally. The "lifter" is not needed.

-------------------------------------------------------------

I had a touring duty run to across the state border and back earlier in the morning, and as I stated earlier, I removed the ribbons on the bonnet before heading out. As soon as I touched the paper ribbons on the door handles, my little Princess insisted that those stayed and started to cry when I started to remove one. Since they are not doing any harm to the chrome door handles, I let them be for now.

Also got the dealer badging on top of the "SX" on the rear removed using Colin Spray.

Headed out across the highway to the state border, amidst plenty of greenery around and the sun shining hard. It's another humid day today, with plenty of clouds roaming about (but no rain yet). Found a nice place in the shade, in a section of the road under a clump of huge trees, to take a breather, and I had some time to take some snaps.

Returned home at around 2:45 PM.

Some snaps:

You won't get to see this greenery in any other season.

Note that there's no downshift prompter in the Creta.

ODO's current position. Note the fuel left in the tank?
Lazarus: 2015 Hyundai Creta SX+ 1.6L Petrol. EDIT: Now sold!-img_0111.jpg

ODO is now at 958 kms, and the fuel tank still shows 1/4th tank of petrol left. I can now confidently say that the Creta petrol is a pretty frugal machine too, and should give a mileage of what the EcoSport EcoBoost gives, ideally (around 11-12 kmpl inside city and around 15-16 kmpl on the highways).

Ciao!

Congrats, the official TBHP "Creta Man". I do not think we need official review after reading this and naveen.raju's initial ownership threads.

Please remove the dealer sticker too from the hatch, and never allow dealer to put any sticker during periodic service.

Great. And good to hear that there have been no scratch marks etc.

And have your registration formalities been completed, Avi? Asking as I can still see the T/R on Lazarus.

Very true. Please remove those stickers Avi. Mine wasnt this bad. If you look at the PDI picture of my car, you can see the dealer sticker on the rear glass (top) and one just above the "creta" badging. I removed them as soon as I reached home. Removing the glass sticker was quite easy, but not so with the sticker on the body. Remove them soon else you will find the glue to be really strong.

And Latheesh, thanks for those comments

The one on top of the "SX" badge was easier so I did it in the morning itself, but the one in the center (under rear windshield) requires a bit more detailing. Have kept it as a task for tomorrow or the day after, when I have more free time.

Yes, all formalities are complete and I have received my number as well. LINK

The numberplate work is underway. Should be up in the next 2-3 days.

No "IND" plate system in force here yet, so going for a simpler one until that comes into effect.

Lazarus: 2015 Hyundai Creta SX+ 1.6L Petrol - Discovering my true call

Ravenavi, you do have a beauty.I hope the Colin's spray you are referring to is not the glass/mirror cleaner. If yes,Please do not use Colin on the paintwork. Colin is good for only glass. This could spoil your paint.

Pls use 3M Quick Detailer for an emergency wipe. Especially if you have bird droppings.
Buy yourself a Jopasu duster. Water is the biggest enemy of any car.

I would suggest you read through a few detailing threads on our forum and stick to simple maintenance mantras.

I found a thread stared by GTO extremely useful.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=164767

All the best.

No worries. It was just to remove the remaining sticker bits. No damage to the body paint, because I don't rub deeply and strongly.

I use a Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer for the same job.

Jopasus are a given in all our cars, be it Silver Pegasus (2012 City), Sylver (2012 Ritz), Empress (2014 City), Silver Queen (2014 Swift) or Lazarus now.

Well, I am a maintenance-oholic! You can go through my previous ownership reports for details on my cars and their maintenance.

Not to brag, but people in my circle always compliment me on how spic and clean my cars usually are. Keep an eye out for a detailing session of Lazarus soon, when I have a bit more free time from the unusually hectic job/family routine I am going through right now.
