Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

Congratulations volkman10 on the new ride. Those alloys are looking super cool on the car. Also the Granite Gray color looks black from some angles. You got 2 cars at the price of 1.

I believe nothing can be perfect, so suspect the SUV itself
BTW, nobody, even Maruti, claims the S-Cross as an SUV! In the mass market cars, this is the biggest crossover till date. All the nearest competition cars are just hatchbacks dressed up as crossovers with some roof rails and plastic cladding make-up!
If you have to buy similar sized crossover, the next option is available only in the luxury segment - such as X1 or Q3, which are 3-4 times costlier. That way it is perfect VFM (though at the cost of lower engine spec, and less features).

Another good thing about the car is that, this can easily mix with crowd, and not many will realize they are actually looking at a new car. The general untrained eyes can easily mistake it for Swift, Ritz, Ertiga, SX4 and even Ciaz if looked from the front, and hence you can drive along without attracting attention!

Btw, your alloy wheels look perfect for the car. Good that you changed the OEM alloys first thing. Did you upgrade the tyre profile during the process?

BTW, i think you misread the Question. The Question asked was related to competition or in other words- Why not buy the Creta( advertised as 'Perfect SUV')?

NO- I did not upgrade the tire profile.

Thanks for clearing the air! Mere mortal me, could not pick up that the "Perfect SUV" meant the Creta!
Though Creta is a lovely car, all these new age monocoque compact SUVs - Duster, Terrano, Ecosport, Creta are just provided to satisfy the peripheral need to have a SUV looking car with all sort of gadgets and gizmos. They are not intended to be used as one would use a "proper SUV". No, the owner is not supposed to use it in muddy uneven village lanes.
The definition of SUV will change in the years to come, as the body on frame design becomes obsolete, due to less takers.

Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

Congratulations volkman10 on the new car. Maruti has for sure tried, and in a good way, to make entry into the 10L+ segment with first,
2 good launches (S-Cross and Ciaz) and second
with their NEXA showroom concept.

Though earlier they tried with SX4 etc but then those never took off the way Maruti wanted.

How do you find the rear passenger seating? Are they comfortable and good for 3 adults?

Anyways great choice and Happy Driving!

Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

Congratulations mate!

Like everyone else I too just love the alloys. It makes the car look very nice indeed!

Have seen a few on the road recently and I'd say I haven't spotted a significantly higher number of Cretas which makes me wonder what kind of success this would have had had it been priced better.

I am sure you will address this but somehow the front loses character without the projectors and LED DRLs.

Wishing you many safe miles with this one!

P.S. Any chance of a comparison between the Japanese and German?

Rear seat is more than sufficient for 3 adults with good legroom. This is one of the USP's of this Crossover!

Yes , just followed up with Nexa accessory department. Seem positive on the HID/DRL parts. Parts are available and will get confirmation next week.

Comparison between Japs vs German, in short actually am too a little bit confused when driving - since stalks are in different positions.

Just to sum up if you own a German vehicle once I think nothing will come close nor you can be satisfied in terms of build Quality and performance( esp. TSI's )

Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

Congratulations on your new Car... I was driving behind a S Cross and I liked the look of car when it drives around. Also I loved your Alloys and choice of Tires. Michelins are known to keep the cabins very quite and are reliable even during bad slippery road conditions. I wish they offered bigger tires like how Audi and Beamers comes with as a OE.

Enjoy your ownership.

Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

What did you do with OEM alloys?

Also, i hope new alloys are lighter than OEM (and equally stronger), anything heavier than OEM will cause premature failure.

The alloys look real sweet on the car, also please share some light whether you have any ride quality difference after changing the alloys. thanks

Alloys and tires were part of the buy back by the Alloy wheel trader.

Not much difference when checked , Thanks.

Not able to recollect on the ride Quality as on stock alloys my drive was ~ 7kms, but for sure the Road noise seemed to be controlled now.

Excellent ownership report!

Since you own both Polo and S-cross, I am tempted to ask one question. How does the suspension of S-cross compares with your Polo in low and high speeds, particularly at the back?
