Re: My 2015 Honda Jazz V CVT (Automatic)

Interesting update.

Filled petrol early in the morning at Sai Pump just before joining the Pune Mumbai Expressway.
Tank full to tank full distance = 457 km
Petrol filled = 30.05 lt
Petrol value = Rs 1965.57
Average as per MID = 15.4 kmpl
Average by tank full method = 457 / 30.05 = 15.21 kmpl
Average fuel cost = 1965.57 / 457 = Rs 4.30 / km

Further to this - my total travel in the morning was 160+ km with MID showing 20.9 kmpl!

I am happy that I gambled on the Honda Jazz V-CVT.

Re: My 2015 Honda Jazz V CVT (Automatic)

Girish Sir,

I just started using my car on a more frequent basis and as luck would have it, ran into a problem on the very first day.

My office has very limited parking space and everyone is expected to leave the car in neutral with the handbrake down.

Now how should I do this, the key cannot be removed if the gear is not in P.
Also, after removing the key, the transmission gets locked and no gear change can be done.

This is a major issue for me as I will not be able to park the car in office if I do not follow the parking requirements which are mandatory.
Any violation leads to a steep fine and withdrawal of parking facility.

Thanks,
Aditya

There should be a "parking release" button. If not please read the manual on what to do when the vehicle needs to be towed. You should follow the same procedure.

Re: My 2015 Honda Jazz V CVT (Automatic)

Chandras is right. Every torque converter automatic car has a gear lever release button. What you do is simple. After you park, slot into P and take the key out in routine manner. Then, you press this release button and move the stick back to N and leave it there. You problem solved.

Now, I said every torque converter automatic because I am not sure if CVT/DSG transmission also have this feature.

Re: My 2015 Honda Jazz V CVT (Automatic)

Does the jazz have AUX input somewhere on the instrument console? It'd be a pain to connect a phone/ipod in the glovebox with the given cables sitting all the way at the drivers seat.

Dear Aditya,

I am sorry - I was very busy for the last few days and missed this post.
As replied by others, I think there is a way. At the time of taking the car from the dealership, I had been told of some method. I do not remember it exactly - but I think there is 'some' way of locking the car in Neutral. Let me check and come back to you.

Edit: Found this on TBHP - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...tral-gear.html
I am still looking for the 'right' answer.

Dear createrkid,
Yes there is a AUX on the console. My daughter has used it once. I am on the radio most of the time, so zero first hand experience.

Re: My 2015 Honda Jazz V CVT (Automatic)

Hi all TBHPians!

A small update: My Honda Jazz V CVT Oct 2015 is 9 months old now. AND it is going to cross 10,000 km later in the day - when I drive down from Mira Road Mumbai to Pune.

I hope to be able to catch the moment! Also, I hope to remember to catch the reading when I reach Pune.

Anybody else in the same boat?

When a AT car is in park and if you cant start it, you can press the parking release button to release it into neutral and tow. (this is the reason for its existence)

So if someone has the key to the car and if they can press this button, they can release it into neutral. This is my experience with other generic AT cars. You can do the same and carry the key.

Dear srishiva,

I saw the parking release button on Innova Crysta - but could not find it in my Jazz! Maybe you could look at a Jazz and share that knowledge?

As far as I know, you have to have the ignition key slotted it to put it in neutral - in Jazz CVT. However, I am open to be corrected.

Thanking you in advance,

Girish Mahajan

Can you check this? As I said in my earlier post its usually used when your car has a problem and hence they cover it.

Dear srishiva,

Thanks a lot for the information! Now why could I not find it!

Anyway, I will see if this is possible in my car.

Just by the way, this does not solve the problem for those who want to leave a locked car in a parking lot 'in neutral'!! Not that I like the idea - but I can imagine that some people might have no choice.

Thanks once more.

Hello friends!
Delayed update.

As expected I have crossed the 10,000 km mark almost exactly 8 months from purchase.
I got the car on 30 Oct 2015.
I crossed 10,000 km mark on 29 Jun 2016.
So, I might be completing 15,000 km in one year.

Note to myself: Need to look for a good diesel SUV!

Plenty of options to choose from. Decide what are your requirements first and start the hunt! Good luck.

Congrats on your 10,000 Km milestone. I too own a Jazz VX but had opted for a manual since magic seats were not available on the CVT version. I recently did a Bangalore to Vellore ( 420 kms ) round trip highway run and the FE that she returned was around 18 Km/litre. I drove at 130 km/hr for around 50 kms ( just to hear the grunt of the engine ) and maintained 100 km /hr for the rest of the journey. This trip of 430 kms was done in 8 hours. I did not even feel the strain of the travel and really enjoyed the drive.

Only drawback was that my wife complaint of a stiff neck. She found the rear headrest not to her taste.

What is the Tyre pressure that you maintain?
