How is the build quality.
Light panels, thin sheet metal and a very light weight car. Prone to dents easily.

re: My Maruti-Suzuki Baleno Zeta Petrol | Now Wolf'd | 6 years & 42,000 km done

The car has run around 17,500 KM. I have finally got the full suspension replaced under warranty. It took exact 2 months for the entire procedure. I am happy with the outcome. Ride is much better now, but still on stiffer side

4th Service Done :
ODO was around 17,500 KM and it was 1 year since last service. I got it done yesterday. Oil, oil filter, coolant and brake fluid were changed. Air filter and Fuel filter change are at 40K kms. I also got the new windshield chemical coating for 450 Rs. Total bill was 4099 Rs. Maruti dealers are very serious about unauthorised fitments and they did mention about aftermarket headlights in the bill.

re: My Maruti-Suzuki Baleno Zeta Petrol | Now Wolf'd | 6 years & 42,000 km done

I had got the insurance renewed few days back. I went with Maruti Insurance (National). I did not opt for zero depreciation and the cost was 10,300 Rs.

It's been 2 years with Baleno and has run only 18K km. I have some plans after few months.

1. Remap : Wolf Moto / GT Tunerz (Quantum UK)
The gains would be very less, 6-8 HP. I won't complain if it improves the drivability and also lift the revv limiter

2. MGA Body Kit :
I think it costs around 22K. It does improve the looks.

3. Alloy Wheels :
Momo has got new Revenge concave rims. It should look good on Baleno.

4. Exterior Detailing

BMC Stock replacement filter available

http://www.bmcairfilters.com/eng/car...67-01/1526/art

I am planning to order it from sparesncare. The seller has quoted 5700 Rs.

Issues are never ending with Xenon Planet projectors, the hot spot is completely off on left side

I hope it's just bulb seating. I am fed up with Xenon Planet, no point wasting my time and energy going back to them. I will upgrade the projectors to Morimoto sometime next year.

re: My Maruti-Suzuki Baleno Zeta Petrol | Now Wolf'd | 6 years & 42,000 km done

I tried Shell V power petrol. It was quite expensive at Rs. 83 / litre. There was good difference in my Kwid 800 CC. Compared to my Kwid, I did not find such difference in Baleno 1.2. Half throttle response is slightly better now.

Right Side Headlight fogging issue :
My Maruti-Suzuki Baleno Zeta Petrol | 8 years & 52000 km up | EDIT: Sold!-img_20171209_063924.jpg
There is little fogging present at the edges. I checked the back rubber cap and it was tight. This is a common issue in many Maruti cars and they replace under warranty. Since my headlights were opened up by Xenon Planet for retrofit.. I will not get warranty for this.

re: My Maruti-Suzuki Baleno Zeta Petrol | Now Wolf'd | 6 years & 42,000 km done

I timed 40-100 KMPH acceleration in 3 rd gear. I did 3 runs. First run was on slight downhill, next one on almost flat road and last one was on steep uphill. There was lot of difference on uphill and the car was much slower. The difference was very less in my S-Cross 1.6. I guess NA petrol to be blamed here, thanks to very loss torque.

I would be getting BMC Performance air filter in 2 days. I have already ordered it from sparesncare and the price is Rs. 5600 . I will time the car again with BMC filter.

BMC Stock replacement filter : Mini Review!

Ordered from sparesncare, cost : 5600 Rs. The package was shipped from Bangalore BMC dealer : Powerhaus
My Maruti-Suzuki Baleno Zeta Petrol | 8 years & 52000 km up | EDIT: Sold!-img_20171221_124226.jpg
Here comes the surprise after I opened the package
My Maruti-Suzuki Baleno Zeta Petrol | 8 years & 52000 km up | EDIT: Sold!-img_20171221_125207.jpg
They had sent me 2 filters instead of one . I was surprised and thinking if it was a mistake or surprise gift haha. This confusion ended in 2 minutes when I got call from Powerhaus saying that they sent one more by mistake and asked me to return it. Baleno 1.2 was misunderstood by someone there as 1 X 2 . I retuned the extra filter to them.

Installation :
This is simple DIY and hardly takes 2-3 minutes. Open the air box cover, remove stock filter, put in the new filter and close the cover, that's it.

I took the car for a short drive. I also timed the car on same stretch of roads. There was 0.3 to 0.4 seconds difference on flat road or downhill. But on uphill I got 0.7 seconds gain, that's impressive. Do not expect day and night difference in performance. There is mild improvement above 4000 RPM and I like the engine note too at higher RPM. Throttle response seems better.

Here is the 40-100 KMPH acceleration on uphill in 3 Rd gear (0.7 seconds faster than OE filter)

BMC filter is imported and made in Italy. The manual recommends to clean every 25,000 KM. But I think it's better to clean it every 10,000 km in India. There is a separate kit for cleaning which comes with detergent and regeneration fluid. It costs Rs. 1700. I will buy it later. The filter is oiled and it would trap in more dust. No way it would not require cleaning till 25,000 km on our roads.

Got these 2 stickers

Love from Italy

I am happy with the mild improvement in performance, hope the filter would complement the remap when I do it. Nobody has done remap for Baleno 1.2 in India except GT Tunerz Delhi / Quantum UK. I would get the remap next month.

Good to see some improvements . Any idea if they are going to make a filter for the RS?

BMC replacement air filer is not yet available for Baleno RS and 1.3 DDIS. BMC DIA can be installed. I am waiting for S-Cross 1.6 BMC air filter and the dealer has said it might be available after 2-3 months.

The BMC website does have the filter for the 1.3 Diesel listed.

What are the advantages / disadvantages of DIA?

Great. I think it's added recently.

DIA replaces the stock air box. It might have more gains than replacement filter. The price is almost 2-3 times more and manufacturer can void warranty. Replacement filter is DIY job and we can revert to stock while giving for service

No point risking warranty for a little bit of gain. Will have to wait and see if they will release a filter for the RS I suppose.

re: My Maruti-Suzuki Baleno Zeta Petrol | Now Wolf'd | 6 years & 42,000 km done

Minor Experiments :
Baleno has very good stock intake design. It sucks in cooler air directly from outside. I just wanted to see if removing the initial part of intake would make any difference. I do know that it will be hot air intake now, just did as an experiment as it will improve the air flow.

Removed the hose, just pulled it out
My Maruti-Suzuki Baleno Zeta Petrol | 8 years & 52000 km up | EDIT: Sold!-img_20171222_172453.jpg
I drove the car for around 30 km and couldn't appreciate any gains. Engine sound was little louder. I timed the car and it was little slower too. Mission fail!!

There was one sensor after airbox. It did not look like MAF sensor. If any doubts, contact my mod guruji sankar . He had a look at pic and said there are only 2 wires, so it should be a temperature sensor and adviced me to check the catalogue. I did it and guruji was right.. It is inlet air temperature sensor. I have marked the sensor in pic. The car was little slower as it was breathing hotter air. I connected back the hose and all is well .
