re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

I had got temporary registration from Mangalore RTO. I had been to Kasaragod RTO to register my car today. RTO official said no other 1.6 was registered in Kasaragod RTO before and mine is the first . Road tax payment rule is changed in Kerala now. We are supposed to pay road tax within 1 week post buying the car. My car had temporary registration and I had planned to pay road tax after a month during permanent registration. It was not a problem 3 years back when I had bought grand i10 from mangalore. Now I have to pay penalty of 800 bucks.

Yes, I rechecked it. I have to check it again.

I plugged OBD reader and drove sometime back. S-Cross shows percentage of fuel left using OBD reader. Reserve fuel light was up when I had plugged OBD reader. It was showing 15 percent fuel left. So I could assume that reserve fuel capacity 7-8 litres.

Your car with Brezza alloys and these Wraps looks Magnificient and is surely an Eye Catcher.
Can you please share the cost of wrapping the ORVM and what was the time required to wrap ORVM?
PS : Why not add a spoiler in Black colour?

Cheers !!

Thanks!!

Black spoiler is on cards during first service. I think it costs 5K.

ORVM wrap took hardly 45 minutes. 4 square feet of gloss black wrap was required.

Gloss black wrap costs 260 Rs/Sq.ft. 50 Rs/Sq.ft is service charge. I spent 1240 Rs for ORVM wrap.

Please be careful with the installation of the spoiler. It requires drilling. Last week a car came to my MASS and they were fixing the spoiler. Dealer had messed up, and now water was leaking in his car from the holes of the spoiler.

Shashi

The black wraps look really cool.
I would also like to go for the PPF on door handles and edges. Could you please share the cost details.

Yes, it requires drilling. So I did not get it installed during delivery. Dad advised me to wait and decide. Now I am reconsidering it.

Thanks!!

2 Sq.ft of PPF was used. It costed 1000 bucks.

Garware sunfilm price is 1500 Rs for side and rear windows.

3M CR 70 : 16,000 (excluding tax)
3M RE 70 : 6,000 (excluding tax)

This could be a rear case sir !! One among Three Swifts that ply on road has spoiler installed.
As MSIL has come up with Zeta LE which has Rear Spoiler, so it could not be a problem to install Spoiler in S-Cross.

PS : Maruti should have provided factory fitted Spoilers like those in Baleno

If possible, as the Spoilers are availabe Un-Painted, get it painted in Midnight Black rather than painting in White and Wrapping it again.
Wrap may peel off at the curves and edges over long time.
ajay_satpute could share some info on installation and its reliability as he has got the Spoiler installed.

Cheers !!

I have no plans to wrap spoiler if I am getting one. Nexa dealer has quoted 5K inclusive of painting. I would have been very comfortable if they could install it without drilling.

What's next?

1. Projector upgrade from Xenon Planet : planning to go for Mini D2S setup

2. RD dual channel box : I have asked them to send the box for trial. If I am not satisfied, will consider remap

3. Wolf remap : Wolf has offered remap for a very good price (discount) because I got their remap for SX4.

4. Roof wrap : Confused about 3M vs local accessory shop

Unfortunately, the MGA spoiler does need drilling.

I'd go with the 3M one. The quality of wrap local accessories shop use might be a cheap one, which might be difficult to remove incase you decide to. Genuine 3M wraps come off easily without damaging the OEM paint.

Dear Sir,

I am not saying that all installations are bad. I just warned Dr. Naren, about the possibility of damage as most of the installers I have seen are too careless, and this is a job which is almost irreversible in nature. There is an accompanying manual with the spoiler, regarding how to go about the installation. I have seen installers ignoring all advice in the manual, and going about their own way.

The reliability of the spoiler is dependant on the competence of the installer. Things would have been a lot better if the spoiler was a standard equipment in the S-Cross, as you have rightly pointed.

Regards,
Shashi

Fully agree with you Shashi. I got the spoiler installed during the delivery and the work done by the Service people were excellent.

Yes, it requires drilling of 2 mounting holes on the body of the car and if the installer is careless or not following procedures, can result in irreversible problems.

It costed me ~6K including the painting almost an year back. I took delivery in the 2nd week of August 2015.
