Default Otr !

Its that time of the year when we visit Rajmachi trail with our Fortuners to give the 4wd system a proper workout

We all left from Mumbai around 6:30 am & arrived by 8am @ Kamats (Lonavla) for breakfast where Pune gang too joined in;

^ Breakfast was done in about 20 mins, but the excitement to hit the trail & meeting everyone after a long time the talks went on for another 20 odd mins.

But soon after we were on the trail;

A parting shot of the BF Goodrich after they received a mud bath today. Their performance was totally exceptional be it Traction, Toughness or overall Ride quality too

What an outing it was!
This year the trail difficulty level was the highest I feel.
Great to have such a good turnout too. Let's do it one more time before the monsoons are over.
All in all a Sunday well spent. 😃

Lovely Sunday!

My first OTR experience and I'm absolutely amazed at what these trucks can do!
I'm into fast bikes and never seen such torque at work.

I was a fun shotgun drive in Monaro and Jay's fortuners, the climb midway was simply epic! The fortuners actually climbed a portion off-road which was difficult to climb on foot.

Looking forward to attending many more OTR sessions in future.
Karan those new tyres are simply lovely!

Sharing some pics taken on my iPhone.

Monaro ready to climb.

Karan climbs first! From what I understand, climbing first is really difficult because no one knows the exact terrain. Skill and guts!

How did the Endeavour perform when compared to the Toyota Army? Was it as good, a bit weak or better?

As stated in my earlier post the tyres performance was totally exceptional be it Traction, Toughness or overall Ride quality too.

Also to answer your earlier query noticed these tyres being slightly more audible compared to the OE HT tyres specially on Mumbai - Pune Expressway (which is a Concrete/Cement road) but on regular tarmac yet to notice a difference.

Overall the Endeavour was a good performer, but most of these obstacles on the steep slope it attempted in ROCK MODE which is its most aggressive setting (not sure if MadMonkey locked diff any point of time). In my New Fortuner just once i engaged 4L.

Yesterday did a 550kms road trip to Baramati & back.
The tyres performed great at high speeds and i did not really alter my driving style to adapt to the A/T setup.
Performed well in the rains too
On bad roads around New Mumbai and some other Bad Roads the tyres performed exceedingly well & are a real confidence booster.

FE for this trip was 10.8km/l

Sharing a picture of the car from the drive;

Hey Karan,

I guess, I spotted you some time back at the Fountian signal coming from Ghodbunder road Thane, heading towards Vasai.
I was one car ahead of you at the signal in my white XUV.
Your Fortuner looks really mean with those new tires.

Cheers.
Sahil.

Good outing we had. Would be all the more fun in the monsoons. Two things I learnt that day:
1. The Fortuner has excellent approach and departure angle
2.The BFG's rock! Makes the trail effortless.

Those bumpers look like they've taken a hit on the trail? That's the sign of a great off-road session, glad to see you enjoying your monster in its natural habitat!

Yes, this Fortuner with the damaged bumpers the driver was enthusiastically confident & hence had attempted a few obstacles without any spotting & hence got damaged. With spotting and better approach the other Fortuner cleared thankfully without any damage.
