Wonderful to know that you had a good run to Pune and back.

The mileage of your beast is pretty commendable. 10.4 kmpl on the New Year's eve is very much acceptable.

Few questions
- is this mileage from the MID or tankful to tankful methods?
- What is the engine rpm @ 100 / 120 kmph speed in 6th gear?

Congratulations!, Karan, on your new acquisition.
It looks great and a good choice of colour - White on fortuners truly looks brilliant. All black is the only other colour, I feel, that can hold a candle up to the white.

Thanks for the very detailed review and highlights.:thumbs up
Have you by any chance had a ride and chance to compare the new Ford Endy with the new Fortuner ?.

- Just Under 2k rpm @ 120 in 6th gear

Yes very much have spent a lot of time in the Endeavour.

Endeavour v/s Fortuner is a long battle where some prefer Toyota brand where as others may want to buy the Ford. BUT in todays scenario the Endeavour is a great product with more features and better engine too (more power and an extra cylinder). So if you want to buy an A/T then the Ford is better product, if Manual then definitely the Toyota as its available with a larger 2.8 L compared to 2.2 L of Ford.
Hence i bought an 4x4 MT Fortuner.

Some pics of when the Number Plate was installed;

Excellent Finish of this IND style plate;

Total Amount paid was Rs 800 for the plate + Rs 250 for both the holders.

6th gear - 120 kmph @ a shade below 2000 rpm will help the Fortuner maintain high speeds effortlessly while returning a decent mileage. Truly a highway cruiser.

I hope the same ratios are employed in the AT. please:

The number plates with the black holders look good.

Incidentally, I was looking at them this evening online, as I did not like the standard number plates that Lanson Toyota provides.

I may go in for one of these.

This one in "German Font" looks stylish, especially the '0' and '9' as my number will have one '9' followed by three '0's.lol:

This one looks good too, but may not suit the Fortuner.

How is the number plate at the rear of the car? Are the numbers in one row or two? Not sure which would look better.

Looks like Toyota has done a great job with the right balance between power and fuel efficiency

The endeavour 3.2 auto gave me 9 kmpl with the cruise on:Frustrati

Are you planning to install an Electrochromatic rear view mirror mirror on your fortuner?

Gear ratios are similar in the AT Fortuner too.

The german font looks cool
Are we allowed to make the plate in that font?

Due to an extra cylinder and overall weight of the Truck, it is reasonable. Also, most of the posts on Fortuner giving 14ish are due to careful driving most likely to take care of running-in, I think real world average of Fortuner will be more like 10-11.

The reasons for lower FE on Endeavour are;

- Endeavour weighs aprox 160 Kgs more than the Fortuner
- Extra Cylinder
- More Power
- Also full time 4wd

Nope !

Achieving FE of 13-14 km/l on manual version is easy, if i'd try harder i may end up crossing the 15 km/l mark to be honest !

Update;

Finally crossed 2500 kms :thumbs up

Should I consider the running in to be complete now ?

Very good review! Loved it! But the video of "Taking Delivery" was just mesmerizing. Taking delivery of a brand new vehicle is just something you cannot put into words.
