Feedback must be provided with a firm caution that cars should not be filled with oil stored in containers that originally contained chemicals. They should be using either automatic dispensing machines OR if this is a field check/service camp they should use sealed 4 or 5 litre cans and then top off the balance from 1 litre cans. It's a hygiene thing that must be adhered to. These shortcuts impact customer confidence in the dealership's methods of doing business. I would be just as upset as you are.

Update :

Got the oil changed again, Another 1 litre of extra oil kept in the boot, Just incase!

Visited 3M

Got the rat repellent treatment done, Took exactly around 30 minutes and was surely satisfied to see what they were doing, Seemed they knew their stuff! Used one full bottle of the spray and covered all 4 tyre areas and the engine bay as well, Company provides 6 months of warranty, However i am unsure to what exactly "warranty" means, It was also told these will keep away the rats regardless of how big they are, Lets see only time will tell. The engine bay and all the area around the tyres were washed properly and then the spray was applied, Fingers crossed, It did smell very pungent and bad while it was being sprayed, Luckily nothing came inside the car and the AC circulation was kept for inside only.

Some pictures.

UPDATE

Following up to my previous post, 3M Rat Spray did not work for me, Rather the car had a rat bite just 2 days after the install!

Fortunately it wasn't a biggie and only the front parking sensor wires were cut but this was totally unexpected, Another Non bhpian friend had a rat bite 1 week after getting the 3M treatment done, I have bought insurance with rat bite covered so that gives some peace, Apart from that i am using the following spray now and touch wood no signs of any rats even near the car, Its been almost a 3-4 weeks now, The smell of this spray was so very pungent that i could smell it even after standing around 8-10 feet away from the car, Fingers crossed as of now. Ill post the details of this spray soon, Once i am sure of it that it works.

Nearing 50,000 KMS already
Daily driven, One of the recent week, The car faced 5 highway trips in a week! Pune x2 /Nasik/Lonavala x2 ! For business & pleasure both.

Some random pictures.

15 months of driving her for nearly about 30,000 kms, I still look forward for every drive, Every single day, Yes a lot of credit goes to the Remap + Downpipe combo, I can hardly imagine about the painful time i'd have to go through while having to try and "upgrade" from such an all rounder. But as of now i think that would take a time, I'd keep the 530 much longer than i decided to i am sure.

Among one of the many highway trips, Was Alibaug! Man it was horrifying to say the least, Me along with bhpian iliketurtles & AjayS decided to spend the weekend in Alibaug and may i say here they should get an instant infraction in deciding the destination as Alibaug!

I knew this was coming! Bye Bye Front Lip!
Thanks to the lovely road condition to Alibaug, The front lip took several hits and finally a few huge crater's inside the city made sure the car did not come out of those unhurt! The middle portion of the lip was badly damaged, I sent the car to BMW Thane and asked them to cut out the middle part as of now, So only the swords are in place, Ill order a new one very soon, I love the front look of the car with the front lip, Will have a new one installed post monsoon.
My Pre-worshipped Monster : BMW 530d M-Sport [F10] EDIT: Sold after 72000+km!-img_2214.jpg

How the car looks now with the middle portion cut, Along with Bhpian Danish9797 who for some reasons loves to sit on my car, Infraction?
My Pre-worshipped Monster : BMW 530d M-Sport [F10] EDIT: Sold after 72000+km!-img_6584.jpg

New tyres going in sometime next week, Planning for a few cosmetic mods as well, Also comes to my notice is the alibaug trip just did not hurt my back, It left a mark on the car too, Both the front lower arm bushes are cracked and needs to be replaced, Will be done, Also i am a bit fed up with the short engine oil service duration of 5000-6000 kms, Planning to try a different Engine oil to see if would last a bit longer.

Next update would be with new much needed shoes!

Yeah, I figured it's a no show after so many reports of its failure. Sucks. I was hoping to see a well-known brand enter the segment with a good product. Most of the stuff right now is from small unknown players.

Which one? Autoshine?

What happened to the tar brushes?

Whoa! Sorry to hear about that. Am surprised to hear about such bad roads. Haven't driven to Alibaug in a long time, but I don't otherwise remember any Indian highway that's bad.

Does this have anything to do with your remap? My oil changes are all at 10,000 km or so, and both our cars see a lot of highway driving. Why then is your oil service duration so short?

Had high hopes too, But well.

Nope, Ill upload a picture of the bottle asap.

Apparently rats have found a way to enter the engine bay which i am yet to figure out, So regardless of where i have put the tar brush they still manage to get inside, Thankfully the current spray i am using touch wood seems to be working good.

Totally man, Such an all rounder the car is.

Well yes, the route is pathetic to say the least, Regardless of the car, Don't ever try travelling that side, It was a horrific experience specially in a 530.

Quote:

I am very certain on 2 things, I want tubeless & a staggered set up, And as of now only the Dunlop Sport max 050 + is providing me staggered sizes and in tubeless too even apparently these tyres are better overall when compared to Pirelli P zero, So well mostly this. Tried sourcing other tyres too but i guess simply no body wants to import tyres post GST.

Nope, But it may have to do something with my driving style, My car idle's a lot, Spends a lot of time in traffic & shoots away almost every time the signal turns green, Bmw's CBS interval has to be, I did notice the oil change interval going down by 500 kms only even though i had travelled more than 1200 kms once on the highways, but the scene is different in the city, A single 100 kms drive will get the oil change duration down by 300-400 kms & in the end every oil change will give me a life of around 6000 to 6500 kms, I have driven the car 6000 kms as of now since the last oil change and the car says another 600 kms to go for the next, Apparently bhpians danish9797 520d also needs a oil change every 5 to 6k kms.

To match all the aesthetic mods on your car, I think you should get some sexy after-market rims (and then sell your stock rims to me ).

Ah okay. My car spends almost zero time in traffic. It's nights, weekends and highway. Plus, of all the km I've put on her, over 50% are on the highway.

I will still go with observations of GTO. It’s definitely due to the Mapping. Never ever by my experience, has any of the BMWs gone before 9000 km for an oil change, which I remember was one of the worst due to my age and being mine first 530-D in 2010. So maybe your driving is even more spirited or ..

Ofcourse, at that time engines were still coming from Germany. I can’t say the same about the engines from current generation being assembled, my new 7 and X5 both had some sort of strange vibrations which will come say at Toll gate after a drive of 100 km or more, no faults when hooked on.

BMW shortened the service interval I think. In 2010, after a service the interval would get reset to 15k kms, and would last around 10k kms. Now it resets to 10/12k kms, and the service gets due in 5-8k kms depending on how hard the car is pushed.

It's being 2012 Km for a while now but don't you think 5000-6000 Km is too low for a 530-D?

Haha, Thought of it, But the designs i like are costing a few lakhs and the stock ones on the other hand are too difficult to part ways it, So maybe not.

Makes sense, Thats when the engine is going through hardly any stress, I still remember during my last GJ trip during the summers, My car was idling for about 15 hours continuously after a 500 km drive!

I was almost getting the same service interval even before i had got the remap done, With my kind of usage and driving style it has been the same since day one, Infact Bhpian Danish9797's 520d also exactly ask's for an oil change around 5000 - 6000 kms too.

Service interval is set at 12000 kms when the car comes back with new oil change, And yes this is exactly the same thing my SA had told me about the oil change interval.

Its low because the car is being pushed hard, Drive sedately and i am sure the service interval can be prolonged to 8k easily, But then atleast when it comes to me, Ill drive a 530d the way its supposed to.

Reposting this picture i had posted earlier, Harsh climate too that we have here plays an important role i feel.

As for the current oil change interval for me, The car is asking for an oil change after 500 kms and i driven the car for about 5500 kms now.

Tanveer or GTO, what engine oil are you guys using in your cars? I am up for an oil change in next 1800 kms and I am thinking about getting Liqui Moly 5W-30 or 5W-40. Till now i was using Mobil 0W-30. Mine is a 2011 525d with a quantum tuning remap. I am also thinking about getting the Ceratec Oil additive. Any suggestions?

Which spray is it?
I need it and since it has been able to keep away Bombay rats, I am sure it will be effective against the much simpler Karnataka rodents...!!

Avoid additives of any kind. IMHO, they are all unnecessary frills that only have a placebo effect.
