Congrats on your anniversary!
She already looks like she has had a 3M treatment. Can't imagine how she'll look after.

That's a nice gesture. Most manufacturers have dropped an Email or Whatspp.

The sun roof. Used only sparingly. I wonder why a car in India needs a sun roof.
It helps to certain people who like natural light; I feel claustrophobic, am sure there will be many others like me.

re: Lexus ES300h Ownership Review | EDIT: Bagheera celebrates 7 years and 76,000 kms

Got a set of 4 new tyres for Bagheera. The car is well past the 40,000 kms mark and after my burst tyre incident on the Volvo XC60 I decided it was time to do the right thing on the Lexus ES300h. Their standard OEM fit are Yokohama tyres. Interestingly they cost about Rs 42k versus ~Rs 80k I paid for the Pirrelli on the Volvo XC60. I requested Lexus to pick up the car, complete the job and drop it back. Interestingly the pick up driver came equipped with sanitizer bottle and the plastic covers in the photo to protect the controls as he drove back & forth. Sensible I thought. Volvo did not have this touch when I got the XC60 serviced just a few days ago.

We have four cars in our garage - the ES300h, XC60, Jazz and Amaze. Our joint family is shrinking and its travel needs are shrinking even faster as the elders get even older and get increasingly confined to the home and the kids all get independent. So time is coming to sell off either the Amaze {2015} or the Jazz {2010}. I like the Jazz. But the Amaze is younger and has more life left towards NCR's 15 year rule. Any views?

This is the circle of life. We started with one second hand Lambretta, then one car, then two, then four. And now after several years at 4 the cycle grinds inexorably onto the other side of the curve as 4 will go to 3 and at some point inevitably to 2.

Too late now but why didn't you put a simple post here before changing.

I'm saying this because you went for Yokohama but the tyres you got are the entry level budget Earth1. The stock OE Yokohama's were imported tyres specific for Hybrid i.e. they were known as dB decibel tyres for low noise and soft compound for comfort.

The Earth1 are budget tyres and are the opposite of dB tyres. They are much harder and get noisy within a year because of this hard compound. The only plus point is that they last very long.

I had the exact same tyres on my Corolla and had to replace them cause of the ride and road noise. Went for Michelin and they are far superior more than a year later.

Plus the dealer should have told you this. 42K for Earth1 itself sounds higher.

Thank you for your valuable input. Unfortunately dB tyres are not coming into India as spares since 2017-2018. So any stock available now is 2+ years old. If I face difficulties with these Yokohama's I'll post it for everyone's benefit.

Just as information. In the stock size of 215/55R17 below options are available:

1. Michelin Primacy 4ST - This is Michelin premium comfort tyre with ST standing for silent tuned. Very good life and extremely comfortable.
2. Yokohama Blueearth AE50 - Yoko mid range tyre in the market. Slightly better than the the Earth1.
3. Yokohama dB E70B - OE tyre but may not be easy to get. I see it easily available online and probably in stores as well.

re: Lexus ES300h Ownership Review | EDIT: Bagheera celebrates 7 years and 76,000 kms

I bumped into your ES300h the other day in the neighborhood. There were a couple of German biggies parked around, a V213 E200, a W212 E350 and a F10 520d, but I must say the Lexus holds it's own amongst the German competitors when it comes to sheer road presence.

Your ES has a beautiful paintshade too, looks really regal and handsome.

Here's one pic I sheepishly clicked.

Been a fan of your thread Mr. Narayan. Lexus is truly lucky to have you as one of its first customers here in India. My father has booked the 2020 Lexus ES and we'll be taking delivery this week. This thread is what influenced our decision. Your writing reduced the work on their sales people by half. I'll share pictures and details later.

Congratulations on a great purchase. I wish you many happy & safe miles. Do post photos. What colour? The new ES300 has interiors way above my older car. Good for you. If at any point you wish me to connect you to the senior executives of Lexus India just drop me a note.

re: Lexus ES300h Ownership Review | EDIT: Bagheera celebrates 7 years and 76,000 kms

Took delivery of our ES300h in Deep Blue Mica yesterday from Nippon Toyota, Kochi. It was more of a red carpet event than a usual car delivery. They made a slideshow just for us celebrating our achievements and special moments That was a nice touch. Then we were officially inducted into the Lexus Owner's Club. They have a mini gallery of Lexus cars owning famous personalities and my father's photo was placed among them. Then came the gifts. Our family has owned BMWs & Mercs but we have never experienced anything near to this. If they keep this up, I'm sure they'll have a strong customer base. Photos attached:

Heartiest congratulations on your new set of wheels. This blue, is in my opinion, the best of the current range of colours. The red looks nice if you prefer a strong 'stare you in the face' colour. Are the interiors tan or beige or grey? All the very best. Their after sales support is way ahead of the German 3.

Welcome to the Lexus family! I love the new ES so much more than the older Es (Sorry V :P). Lexus also has a reputation for the best after sales experience and I am pretty sure they will keep you happy. It also helps the experience that the car themselves are ultra reliable. Keep us updated with the ownership and congrats once again.

Thank you We went for tan interiors ("Topaz brown"). I think that's the only option available at present. We had narrowed down exterior color to either white, blue or titanium but felt that the tan interiors won't go well with the white exterior. The ES is going to get a price hike and only the blue and white models were available at the current pricing. So we went ahead with blue.

Thank you The ES is a looker, but the 6th gen does have a charm of its own. I'll post updates along the way
