re: My 2001 BMW 328i (E46) build thread | EDIT: New video & upgrades on page 15

The E46 is turning out amazing Karan. The paintjob is absolutely spot-on. Atleast one of the best you can get in India.
To add to the overall sportiness, go for some Carbon Fibre trims in the interior and exterior as well. Would absolutely look killer.

I am also planning to repaint my E34 - and you being a few steps ahead is turning out to be a god send. COuld you please share some more details of what parts you removed from the body - and what you think will need to be replaced. For example, the chrome window trim on my car dont look like they'll come off without breaking the clips.
Happy to hear that you own a E34

As E34 is a relatively older car im sure the points mentioned by you relating to trims is a concern, however in my case it wasn't an issue as the car isn't that old & most trims can be snap fitted back (in progress).

In your case i believe you should discuss it out with your paint-shop & if they are confident then go ahead, otherwise be mentally prepared to break it off and order a new one online (Though this is a pricey option).
Quote:
Also - are you painting the inside of the boot/underside of the bonnet etc?
Yes, but without the engine bay as the original colour was silver and the new one is a shade of silver too.

Quote:
Finally how much did this paint job cost you - feel free to share on PM!
About INR 1L.

Quote:
The car looks amazing! and I am impressed by the attention to detail - so many projects I have seen don't bother removing the black trim/ the door handles etc and just spray everything uniform colour destroying the cars lines.
Thanks again !

Thanks for the appreciation.

The interiors are going to be black, still trying to work out the options.

The door pads also were painted black but aren't pictured here as they had gone for upholstery work

Holy smokes, I got an orgasm just looking at the beautiful design, it just looks so complete, no unnecessary creases/sills/design element, pure understated class.

May I request for interior pictures Karan? I prefer these interiors to modern ones, for example I prefer the classic Fortuner's interior over the current one.

Yes, the interior is left understated as well. Yet to click pictures of it but the seats are a combination of micro suede fabric (Black - same fabric for headliner) & PU Leather (Black). Trims are wrapped from earlier wood to now Brushed Titanium Metallic. And off course black plastic panels (which were earlier light grey) complete the all black interior treatment.

Finally we get to see the car that's been WIP for a long time. To me THIS thread is the benchmark for all modifications. I just love the way you went about building this car - right from an upgraded engine, the suspension, brakes, wheels the interiors and last, but not the least, the paint. Hats off man!

Now for the dyno run and a video review

It should, as its NOT a plasti-dip job (as Plastidip isn't as durable as paint and once it starts getting nicked and scuffed, it won't look so good)

Lets hope for the best though
