Well here's my story. Or even better feel free to come to Parle to drive my Liva. Having run the Toyota Genuine Motor Oil across the 3 years, I went out of warranty last year. The service interval even though maybe 5k, I ended up clocking 6k and as usual gave it for its first service outside warranty last April. To my shock, a mere 2L of oil came out. Rest is history. The Millenium Toyota folks at Andheri West know me well. So does Bangalore. Anyways, I decided not to fill the stupid ass mineral oil. I've had a great experience with Mobil 1 on my Getz and it was about time. With the stock mineral, I always used to feel that this could be a better motor. Did my home work and Shell and Delvac 1 were on the table. Eyes closed went for Delvac and trust me it has breathed new life into my Tumbler. It literally jumps when you shift into first and overall in gear acceleration has become SO much more improved that on the highway it begs to run and run. And run. 80 is achieved so effortlessly in 4th and not to forget it has improved my mileage as well. Toyotas FS also cost me the same and Delvac 1 set me back by 4K. I've never looked back. The Livas specified grade is 5w30 so 5w40 is OK.

If it worked wonders on this 1.4D4D it'll on yours as well. Gimme a holler. You really have to drive a stock Liva and a Delvac fed Liva to know the difference. It's that good!

Congratulations on your purchase. Well, to be honest, the day I read your posts, the very next day the itch started growing on me, of going on a pre-owned way. Well, yes, to be honest buying a brand new fortuner is a dream for now and I hope to own one soon. For now, I did get a sweet/slightly expensive deal. Came across a 23K run 2014 Super White 4X4 MT variant which I finalized the very next day. Got the service details from Toyota and confirmed that the vehicle was immaculately maintained. The owner didn't have time to drive the monster

On the Whatsapp front, I would be glad if you could kindly get me connected to the Bangalore Whatsapp group as well.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Varun, thanks for the detailed thread on buying a used car. I'm also in the market for a used car. Used Fortuners in Bangalore seemed overpriced and looking at the deal you got, it just blew my mind. Started looking at Fortuners again, but everything is at least 4-5 lakhs overpriced in Bangalore.

Like you mentioned, buying a used car isn't as easy as getting new, but there are financial gains to be had.

Hi Varun Bhaiya,
I'm a new newbie on team-bhp but I've been following your thread since a very long time. Very well written and I should say, Kaliya does look magnificent in Black
How are the geolandars performing? I recently got a 2010 pre owned grey mica metallic Fortuner and my tyres are due for a change. I was contemplating between the continental cross contact AT's and the yokohama geolandar G015. My heart's set on the yokohamas but the only thing that worries me are the sidewalls:(

Well, Geolanders have performed seamlessly for me for 50k kms in 3 yrs (aah 2 yrs plus minimal driving year last year )

But I've heard horror stories , especially in Delhi.

Cross Contact reviews have been much better. I may go for the G015 again when I change them next year

Re: Kaliya - My pre-owned 1st gen Toyota Fortuner

How is Kaliya doing? Have you had the clutch changed? ..and what about that suspension kit that you were thinking about?

When you do go in for a suspension kit with 2 inch lift remember to ask for the Comfort suspension since you will not be adding any extra weight to the vehicle in form of a bull bar or heavy duty rock sliders etc.

Do also make sure to have it done from a specialist. Improperly fitted suspension will do a lot of harm to the rest of the components.
