Re: The Built Tough Ford Endeavour 3.2 Titanium - Ownership Experience

In addition to my post on the same page, I would like to add some more cons :

1. Spare tyre is 17 inch with steel rim, no 18 inches tyre provided. Severe cost cutting . And the downside is that you can go only up to 80 kmhr with the spare.
2. Wheel nuts are of different size in many endeavours (should be 19mm ideally). Some have changed all nuts under warranty as well.

Some features that can be added.
1. Memory function for driver seat.
2. 8 way adjustable seat for front passenger.
3. Isofix for child seat.
4. Paddle shifters for Sports/manual mode.
5. Night vision side view mirrors.
6. Choice of interiors like full black interiors.
7. More choice of colours.
8. Manual gearbox for 3.2 litre engine. This will never come as the newer engines are already launched.
9. Choice of 20 inch wheels from dealer/Ford with extra cost, like abroad.
10. Choice of carrier /roof rails, off road accessories from dealer/Ford.

Is it located in NCR?

Have got service done at 2 different dealerships and both used Shell 5W30 Fully Synthetic oil.
Search for places with Hunter balancing equipment. This one seems to have it and has an OK review on TBHP http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/delhi-...e-gurgaon.html

Re: The Built Tough Ford Endeavour 3.2 Titanium - Ownership Experience

Excellent review, just one point what i heard from a from a friend who owns the same variant. He up-sized to the same 285 wheels soon after purchase and had issues with braking in hair pin bends. Earlier it was assumed to be some issue with Brakes and dealer did their best to narrow down with no luck. Later Ford deputed an engineer to inspect and was found wheels to be the cause. Understood that this vehicle has roll stability assist feature and calculates ABS braking based on wheel dimension. Changing size will error the calculation and brakes will be unpredictable while braking in hairpins. Sadly, there's no option to modify software to cope the wheel change...

Re: The Built Tough Ford Endeavour 3.2 Titanium - Ownership Experience

Stock tyres for Ford endeavour in India are MRF wanderer 265/60R18. Although abroad you have a choice of 20 inches as well.
Since all the calibrations would have been done for the 18 inches tyres, I wonder how much difference is there in handling. 265 to 285 is not much of difference in comparison to 18 inches vs 20 inches. People who have upgraded can enlighten.

Its there I think A.G. has done some calibration on his tyres. Please read Mods & additions (Part 2)section from his post.

The other problem of speedo calibration which could not be addressed by Ford was solved by myself with reprogramming of correct tyre size.
After doing the above calibration I think the ABS should work as intended. A.G. have you noticed any issues after your upgrade.

As roby_dk correctly pointed out, I had already done my homework before buying the tyres understanding the risks which these upsized tyres would pose. I knew Ford India does not have the option to change even the Rim size let alone a upsize through their software. That’s where FORScan came to the rescue. Programmed the almost correct tyre size (increased by 3% instead of actual 3.25% getting the error down to 0.25%) which the vehicle would accept without flashing any errors and now I believe I should not encounter any such issues. Apart from the safety net (like ABS, ESP, etc.), the TCM also relies on correct tyre size for performing the right shifts.

The 20 inch option available abroad has lesser sidewall which will result in even sharper handling but would be less comfortable on broken tarmac. The speedo with the tyre size 265/50R20 would not require any calibration as circumference is hardly 0.3% lesser than 265/60R18 which is negligible. On the other hand, 285/60R18 has more sidewall resulting in a more comfortable ride. It has 3.25% increased circumference over the stock 265/60R18 which definitely needs correction to speedo calibration.

Since the circumference is almost same between the 18 inches stock and 20 inches, what is the main benefit in upgrading and spending a bomb. Is it just looks ?

As said above, it will offer better handling. Rest is purely aesthetics.

Re: The Built Tough Ford Endeavour 3.2 Titanium - Ownership Experience

Ford has drawn a lot of flak for multiple reasons on this forum. Since one of them is my thread which pointed out the missing K member, I was naturally pensive when I drove in for my 20K Kms service to Harpreet Ford.

To my delight however, my service experience was as good as it has always been with Ford on all counts .

As an owner, I am proud to own a brand that ensured that I continue to 'feel like family'.

Interestingly, it was this service experience which inspired me to convince Senior BHPian n.devdath who was going to book the Fortuner on the same day to buy the Endeavour instead, and was also able to get a great deal on it. Btw, the truck has been with me since the day of purchase and raring to hit the road to Bangalore .

Dear A.G.

Your choice of the endeavour is absolutely correct. Keeping the past behind (Chassis episode) enjoy the vehicle and keep posting. I have completed about 12k in my 3.2 and absolutely love the beast.

I had left the past behind but when my thread was quoted / mentioned by multiple members multiple times on this thread, it made me feel like I am responsible for the tense relationship between Ford and Team-BHP and thereby, their not getting the EcoSport S.

However, when I experienced Ford’s unbiased treatment towards my vehicle, it became clear that Ford did not hold any grudge against me which clearly implies that my thread is not in anyway responsible for Ford’s attitude towards Team-BHP.

Re: The Built Tough Ford Endeavour 3.2 Titanium - Ownership Experience

Completed 15k on my 3.2 Endy. Only mod I have done so far is a remap. Glad I did that - the already smooth engine has been silky smooth after the remap and I have seen a noticeable improvement in mileage.

Please elaborate what kind of mod and what are the improvement after that. Will it have any impact on warranty?

I had the vehicle remapped with around 3000 kms on the Odo. This was done by Code6. This basically pushes up the already respectable power and torque figures. The stock numbers are 200bhp/470Nm. My estimate post remap is about 260bhp/~620Nm.

Improvements post remap are basically are:
  • A much smoother running engine
  • Improved driveability overall
  • Better Acceleration
  • Improvement in mileage (have not dropped to less then 8kmpl in city traffic. Highways runs normally nett me 10kmpl+. The best I have achieved on the highway is 13kmpl).

The vehicle masks its speed extremely well and its hard to keep a silly grin off your face when you take off from a standing start leaving much smaller vehicles wondering what hit them

Now on the warranty front, strictly speaking, this would void the warranty, but only if you were to advertise that the vehicle is remapped. Every manufacturer provides multiple levels of access and a regular scan that's done at the service centre would not show up the remap. Its only the factory diagnostic tool, or other specialised ECU manipulation tools that would show up the remap.

The remap is done via an OBD flash and there is always the possibility that when there is a factory update, the service centre can always flash the ECU, overwriting our custom maps. But that could always be mitigated by having the tuner reflash the ECU (possibly incorporating the improvements made by the manufacturer - if it has not already been done by the tuner).

All said, the vehicle is an absolute hoot to drive now.

Great, the figure sounds to be too tempting and equivalent to Merc GLE 350d having 255 bhp and 620 nm of torque. Any other modifications to support the increased power and torque figures like better brakes, tyres or exhaust. I am interested in this mod but code6 office is in Bangalore, need to find someone in Delhi/NCR. What about cost?
