Thanks for the insight, Ravi.
I will take it up once I am back in Bangalore next week. This and the dent on the rear quarter panel.

Meanwhile, any suggestion on which kit to use? I was searching in Amazon and found quite a few options with varied reviews.

ashis89, sorry to see the damage to the windshield. You can see BHPian laluks fixing the crack in his windshield here.
Hope you find it useful.

re: Ownership Review | My Kia Seltos HTK+ 1.5L Diesel MT (Coyote) | EDIT: 4 years, 70,000 kms up!

Drove down from Bhubaneswar to Bangalore over the weekend, with a halt at Vijayawada.

Me, wife and loads of luggage. Since the day we welcomed our Coyote, this was the first time it was used to the full potential and it is a worthy successor to the RoadRunner.

Last night together

Two people, loads of luggage, cruise all in comfort, take on bad roads without breaking a sweat and never kept wanting in power.

All the luggage comfortably swallowed in the back. All were securely placed and nothing moved. Also given all the space, I could store everything in a single layer, absolutely no obstruction to the rear view.

Rear sagging slightly due to all those luggage. And I started off with a clean Coyote but the ongoing expansion of NH16 means he was soiled within 30 kms!

Started off at 5:15am from Bhubaneswar, with a full tank of diesel (till brim). Crossed Vizag by 1PM and took lunch break at a Punjabi dhaba at Kasimkota. Crossed Rajahmundry by 5PM. Finally checked into Novotel, Vijayawada by 7:50PM.

Next day, we started by 10:15AM post breakfast. The tankful diesel had lasted 905 kms with DTE showing another 185 kms. So tanked up on the way wit diesel costing Rs. 90.8/L. FE was 19 kmpl for day 1, full time AC and speeds of 110-120 throughout.

Since the roads till Naidupet are excellent and has less traffic, our average speeds were much higher even though I maintained similar steady speeds. Crossed Naidupet by 2:45PM and proceeded towards Renigunta.

Naidupet to Renigunta is double roads with broken patches. I got a lot of traffic with rash and aggressive drivers. Quick overtakes were a necessity and an easy job with the power on tap.

Finally took break before Renigunta for lunch - Ugaadi veg restaurant around 4PM. Renigunta to Puttur is a mix of good and bad roads. Puttur - Chittoor stretch is good and very scenic. Chittoor onwards it was a relaxed cruise till home with a coffee break at Kumbakonam coffee around 6. Reached home by 9.

Stats at the end of day 2

Took my Coyote for a wash to Ozone Car Spa which has been my go to place for past year because of the proximity and good service.

While wash was good.....

I noticed this
Ownership Review | My Kia Seltos HTK+ 1.5L Diesel MT (Coyote) | EDIT: 4 years, 70,000 kms up!-pxl_20210306_062138192.jpg

Felt it and the top paint layer is gone. What is seen is base primer coat. Immediately the thread of paint loss issues on Hyundai came to my mind.

For now, I will give the benefit of doubt to the fact that there was a dent in the area which could have cracked the paint in the layer. I was thinking of paintless dent removal but now I will get it painted sometime soon.

Lovely car and pristine looks, despite the miles it has crunched! Wish you many, many more!

1100 kms range on the highway is mind-blowing! What is the tank capacity?

I read your review long back, and it looks like you got it for a very good price. Nowadays it is more than 18 lakhs I believe.

The Seltos is the best-looking CSUV in the 15 to 20 lakhs range. The new Creta looks ugly to me.

The Mahindra XUV 5OO manages such ranges quite easily, albeit with a larger tank capacity (70L).

But then, the Toyota Etios Diesel too has such range with a 45 liter tank. Ask any Etios Diesel owner and he will easily claim a range of 1000 a tank very candidly. I know quite a few.

50L. But if you fill to the brim then it takes 60+L easily. I drive a little aggressively and get about 18-19 kmpl. Drive sedately and better numbers are possible for sure.

Anything above 700 kms of usable range is a boon.

The HTK+ D MT variant was 12.19L ex-showroom. Now it is 12.79 I believe. Should cost 15.5 on-road.

I agree, though looks are subjective.

Your Ertiga should have a similar range, I believe.

Agree with 700 and above range being a boon. And I am surprised that 10 more liters can go into the tank over the 50 liter limit!!

My neighbor bought a petrol Seltos (not top end), but that cost him 15.5 OTR in Hyderabad. I think the diesel HTK+ MT will be more than that.

BTW, even we get around 19 kmpl on highways on my son's Verna 1.6 SX(o) diesel.

Surprised me as well. But I tried several fuel bunks and got similar results. The range and the FE also add up.

His must be the HTX petrol. Current price (after hike) is 15.99.

HTK+ D MT is 15.2. Add the extended warranty and you will still get it within 15.5L, still VFM in my opinion.

126 bhp, 26 kgm torque and 19 kmpl. What more can anyone ask.

I guess he has the HTX. I am way too confused about the variants---too many of them.

15.5 is a good price, but way beyond my budget to replace my Fiesta. I might go in for the Ecosport diesel. It is below 14 lakhs OTR for the top end.

By the way, is TCS refundable when you file your returns?

Congratulations on the Ecosport! I read your post on the other thread and realised your have found the replacement.

Brilliant car. It was in my shortlist but had to let go only for the lack of leg space. Three of my friends have got it based on my suggestion and all of them are happy.

Yes, TCS would adjusted against your tax liability for the FY.

Review: Turtle Wax 53409 Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating

On a whim, I ordered the Turtle Wax 53409 Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating from Amazon. All thanks to Team BHP which informed me of the 10% discount available on Amazon.

It was delivered on Saturday and I thought of giving it a try this weekend. Since the car was washed last weekend, I didn't bother for another water wash. Instead did a round of waterless wash first.

The ceramic spray bottle explains that it can be used on top of existing coatings or can be combined with wax. So I did a round of Turtle Hard shell wax too. And then finally, the spray and wipe session of this ceramic spray. A Sunday morning well spent.

As compared to results of previous wash and wax sessions, I noticed a 'wet' look this time. I couldn't find any instruction for curing of this coat except for no water washing for 24 hours.

So I just took Coyote out for a drive in the evening. A short drive on the Kolar highway with a stop at Mayura bakery for some yum egg puffs - an evening well spent as well.

Overall, very happy with the results though the longevity remains to be seen. Turtle recommends a second coat 24 hours later which I did yesterday.

I have already ordered the Rainx glass repair kit but it arrive only by end of this month. Paint repair deferred till the next service at 25k kms as I don't want to keep running to the service center repeatedly.

Current odo reading is 235xx kms.

Came back from a Kundapura - Udupi drive over the long weekend. Since we had an afternoon to kill, we drove down to Mangalore to have a nice lunch and grab some gadbad

Since this was a relaxed trip, I drove very leisurely and as a result, got 19+ kmpl throughout the trip. Took the Belur-Agumbe route while going and returned via Tirthahalli-Tarikere--Hiriyur. Odo crossed 24k on the Agumbe ghat and currently stands at 24798 kms.

While descending Agumbe

The windshield repair kit arrived yesterday and my hands are full for this weekend

Hey ashish. How are you doing? I bumped into your thread after a long time. You have accumulated some worthy trips. Read them all in one go. The seltos is indeed serving you well.

One point I can say is- your enthusiasm regarding your car and your writing style is infectious. One person I know previously who was infectiously enthusiastic in his thread write up is abirnale. Second is yours. I mean if someone reads up your thread, it is so convincing that he may end up booking the seltos in the next instant. Had. A good time going through your pages. Wishing you many more.

re: Ownership Review | My Kia Seltos HTK+ 1.5L Diesel MT (Coyote) | EDIT: 4 years, 70,000 kms up!

25000 kms up

Rising Covid cases and lockdown/shutdown/night curfew, this dictate that we stay at home and so we did (and continue to do so). So it took me all of 42 days to cover 200 kms. Even that was possible only because of a 90-km run to get the first dose of Covid vaccine at the other end of the city.

I realised I hadn't checked the tyre pressure since mid-Feb. So a quick run to a nearby Shell bunk for pressure check and a tankful of fuel was bought as well. FE was 18.9 kmpl.

During a short grocery run today, I crossed the 25k mark and thought of clicking few pics while on the road.

The next service and the dent repair have to wait another month until things improve.

Earlier, cleaning the car was my hobby and an excellent stress buster for me (it's not my passion). With barely any running, cleaning the car is but futile. I just keep it under the cover for the week(s) and just dust it once in a while.

So what do I do over weekends? Apart from cooking, I clean the house. My 6-year old refrigerator is my canvas to try my car cleaning products

I hope all is well at your end too.

Did you zero in on the replacement for your tall-boy?
