Congrats on your Triber! I have seen one in blue colour and it looked nice.It indeed looks like it has got a lot of utility value. The last row of seats may not be practical in the daily usage but it is a good VFM vehicle for 5 people on board. While they may advertise it as a 7 seater, I believe it will be much more comfortable with 4 or max 5 members on board. I was tempted to have a look at the Triber when it was launched, but after having owned a Nissan for the last 9 years; I was wary of having another car from the Renault-Nissan combine. Enjoy your new ride, and keep updating the ownership experience here!

Excellent review that summarizes the pro's and cons perfectly. Although both the pros and cons have been talked about enough, a lot of it has been arm chair analysis (including posts I have done on the Triber thread :)).

Congratulations and wish you many miles of happy ownership.

Thank you so much!

Congratulations on the Triber! The designing team has done a rather good job with this car.

Do upgrade to grippy wider tyres with a 15" rim & keep this thread updated as it'll be nice to know how the car fares.

Thanks and will upgrade soon!

I'm in market searching for an upgrade to my family hatchback. We're family of 4 and my trusted Maruti Wagon R VXI 2011 is serving us perfectly well barring the disappointment of limitations of 1 litre engine on frequent highway trips.

Thanks! If you can wait, wait until the turbo petrol is in the game. With that, the power for the highway trips might come. As I said, the problem in the highways is the lack of power. Other than that, the car has good presence and nice ride and handling!

We are a family of 4 and that is also a reason to not to go for ertiga! Triber is a spacious 4/5 seater! I suggest you to wait if you can! After sales for me has been normal till now! Because Kun Renault is the dealer in Chennai where I took the car who has a dealer network for many car companies like Hyundai, Kia, BMW...

Thanks! Yes, a spacious 4/5 seater rather than a 7 seater!

Congrats on your new Triber! Your review was honest and well put together. Wish you many happy miles and memories ahead!

And speaking of honesty, kudos to Renault for making a genuine effort to provide a well engineered solution for the needs of the mass market buyer. Let's hope a turbo petrol or a 1.2L is on the cards to make the Triber a true allrounder for the city as well as highway runs!

Hearty Congratulations,

Comparision always depends on the money paid, and Triber is awesome value for money for the price. It delivers on space better than anyone, in fact at this price point there is nothing that can offer such space.

As far as features go its good enough for daily use, and your primary purpose, even I would be happy to pick it up considering the value proposition, looks also are good.
Rest bells and whistles will be there in upper categories and one cant and should not expect all that.

Super choice and wish you many pleasant drives with family in it.

  1. Couldn't agree more. The Triber really looks fabulous from the rear. Doesn't even give a hint of the price bracket! Well done Renault.
  2. Wow, I didn't know about the RED spare wheel. I wonder what resulted in this choice...
  3. The steering wheel cover seems a size too small on deapth. Half of the steering is exposed. I hope it's not bothering you while driving. If it is even wee bit - please remove the cover I'd say.
Wow! What a well done write up & set of pictures.@jagann13, congratulations on the Triber! Wish you & your family of 5 unlimited joyful & safe miles with the little wonder. Keep the updates coming.

Congratulations & best wishes. Rated your thread 5 star! Like the cars, its raining 5 star threads on TBHP I must say. :):thumbs up

Congrats on the car. It sure has road presence.

Just last week I glimpsed one from the side and was wondering how come the Ecosport appears a size smaller. A closer look revealed that it was a Triber.
Looks great in person.

Congratulations on your new car. clap:
In fact, I am looking for a new car myself and I did test drive the triber too. The car has volumes of space and the boot, especially in the 5 seat configuration is massive.
Anyway, happy mile munching on the Triber.

Really nice indepth review!

Quick question: When I spoke to Khivraj, I was told the essentials kit is a mandatory purchase and on further checking, it was already included in the 80k registration+road tax+"commissions" bulk fee in the cost sheet. Can you check whether it's the same with KUN as well?

Congratulations on the car. Appreciate the way you mentioned clearly about the negatives, be it build quality or the engine. Really well written reviewclap:

Have seen a few on road and must say by no means does it look a 7L OTR car from any angle. It almost looks similar to Ertiga (older one) dimensions. A real honest effort by Renault & going by the numbers, looks like this is paying off decently.

Don't worry about the 120kmph annoying beep as this car isn't supposed to be taken to those speeds anywhere. Stick to double digits and let it serve its real purpose i.e. comfortably ferrying whole family from point A to B. Wish you loads of happy miles with it. :thumbs up

Thank you, sir! Have been following your posts! So glad you could spend some time here!

The steering wheel cover is a tight fit for now. I will definitely change it if it starts to lose its grip!

I was offered a quote of 7.70L.
6.50L + 80K( registration, handling, road tax, miscellaneous) + 10k(extended warranty) + 30k insurance.

From the 80k, tax is 10% of the car's price in Chennai and so 65k. Registration fees would have been close to 5k. So, the remaining is handling and commission for the dealer!
The essential kit should be on this commission then!

But for some sweeteners, the dealer said it's free!

Thank you so much! Sure, I'm doing double digits only, just wanted to check that! Safety is ours if the car isn't!

was wondering what is the average fuel consumption of triber. Does it match the ARAI certified numbers ?

I got the Triber delivered on 23 -10 -19, Perhaps the Only Renault triber in Tbhp with the RXL badging (due to loan constraints. )
I'm planning to do a ownership report shortly. ( 2500 clicks done ) First service due

on the Highways I get about 17 - 18.5 kmpl with sedate speed of 80 - 95 kmph. rarely touching the 105 kmph mark due to down gradients,
City mileage has been on the downside ( or am I expecting too much) is about 10 - 13 kmpl.
I follow one thing , with acceleration I switch off the Aircon, and quickly switch back on once I gain healthy speed on have a good momentum. ( try to get max pick up with the already weak engine)

regards
colin

Most of my commutes being in the city, I get something around 12kmpl. The mileage is close to ARAI rated figures in the highways though!

Congratulations on your Triber, Colin! Would love to see your ownership report! :)

Also we have a BHPians-Triber WhatsApp group. We will PM you the details if you are interested and once you are accessible! Another 24 posts!clap:

Welcome to the gang @Colinpete! RXL is also pretty loaded nonetheless. Congratulations on your Triber. Yes most of us own a RXZ model, but if I could get the rear washer-wiper-defogger fitted in the RXL, maybe I would have gone for that too. But I'm happy with my purchase decision till now. One of my best friend had bought a Blue RXL. I came to know of it yesterday, he isn't a BHP-ian though. He has taken it to Mana also, the last village of Uttarakhand.

Congratulations on your first post in the forum as well. Once you are available to send messages, we will send you a request and you can be a part of our WhatsApp group, as Jagann13 mentioned already. Looking forward to your Ownership Review and to have you as a part of our small but interactive group.

And this is post# 24 !, 23 more to go . . :)

Actually I've been such a bummer that I've followed Tbhp from 2009 and so lazy that I took time out ( that too office hours) and registered myself NOW ONLY, don't ask me the reason , i'm ashamed myself. :deadhorse ( i'm the horse)

anyways - - I felt the RXL ( blue was decided by wifey and me) was most VFM for a person on a budget, I got about 3.9 L for my WagonR VXi AMT , 1.5 yrs old. went as down payment (partly loan closure for the wagonr) and the rest EMI's. wife misses the AMT especially, not me that much.
I sincerely was bowled over with the ride quality the moment I took a test drive from Renault kalyan nagar (blore, Outer ring road), Truly parents features of the Duster passed over here. I dare even say that it trumps few cars a segment above for space and ride quality alone.

I'm not a feature oriented person, but seriously believes in practicality. i'm fine with the R&go infotainment system Renault given with the RXL, works like a charm, huge step up for me atleast from the Wagonr dangling Aux cables,
my family and extended has predominantly been a crazy ass Omni followers ( god alone knows why) / suddenly sense prevailed with my dad getting the first batch of chevy sparks in 2006 I think. Still I urge him not to sell it ever ( brilliant ride quality) and Love that gem of a True steering feel. ( i'm going off topic here, back to Triber)

I got the add-on Roof rails for my triber delivered by amazon just today, wife wanted the RXT looks and felt the RXL had a tirupati darshan right from delivery day. paid 1300 approx. for the roof rails, ill give the details when I get home from office early morning. just a budget offing I picked up. Non drill type with 3M taping included in package. shipped from Delhi. this sat have to install it. Showroom charged a bomb for it, although better quality ( I think) but still 5k is just too much IMHO.,

too much said this post .. ill do a report probably this weekend with pics too.
