Couple of quick questions - how many airbags does this car come with? I’m guessing 6, is that right? One thing I’m noticing is the position of the side airbag: it’s located on the base of the seat and not on the A-pillar itself. I wonder why BMW designed it that way, any particular reason? |
5 airbags I believe, not sure on the side airbag position, guessing it has something to do with fact that this has frameless windows and that forces them to put it on the seat?

Paint Protection: Attachment 2000898
One of the first things I did after taking delivery was to get the car detailed and have it PPF'd. The guys at OCD have been my detailers for a while and Niranjan is an involved, passionate car guy. I chewed his and his team's brains to make sure we got the best results and it came out very well. The PPF disappears and protects the car's original paint. In India, I feel PPF is the only proper protection if you want to retain OEM finish. Ceramic coatings looks great when new/clean but is hard to maintain and no real protection. Another aspect of this color is that it hides dust really really well, even when it is significantly dusty to the touch, it doesn't show as badly. |
Congratulations on your purchase. Your car looks stunning. Compact in size + Powerful engine = Driving Pleasure.
Hope to see you clocking more miles post lockdown.
Congratulations Reesnat! The car looks amazing in this shade. Never imagined a Beemer can look so hot in silver shade as well.
You garage tells the true enthusiast inside you.
City runs - Polo GT
Family Car - vrs
Sports Car - Mighty M2
SUV ? In near future may be you can think for a SUV as well. What else can be better than a G 63 AMG clap:

Thanks guys! Yes I've had my eyes on the M Performance carbon bits for a while now, but they aren't cheap! With the current situation, I don't know when I'll be able to spend again on the car, but I hope to at some point! |
What an incredibly detailed review of an outstanding car ! Kudos ! And speaking of ageing and having a mid life crisis, I was looking at that picture of you with the car for a good 3 mins before a 2 decade old memory of what was probably the very first progression came back to me :) ... wishing you and the m2c the very best !
Congratulations on getting a real special car. The 2 looks so perfectly balanced and you got the right exterior shade - I always felt the 2 looked much better in lighter colours.

This is easily the best looking BMW car on sale now! |
Absolutely! This is one of the best looking car from BMW and looking at the way BMW is going with its newer designs, I don't there will be anything to better this (for a few years at least).
Drive safe!
Congratulations anna! This is my favourite car in the current BMW line-up. It echoes the spirit of the first few generations of the BMW M3, with similar dimensions, encompassing their spirit. Once I can afford this beauty, I will definitely buy one of these, it's bound to become a classic. Wishing you some very happy track days with this beast.
Congratulations on a very special acquisition!
You are living the dream!
The M2 Competition is one of my favourite sports cars in the market. It certainly is the most practical sports car for Indian driving conditions!
The choice of wheels is spot on too - much better than the multi-spoke design on the new car.
Since you are exploring the option of getting the Akrapovic slip-on setup, I would also highly recommend checking out other tasteful upgrades.
There's a UK-based firm called Evolve Automotive that specialises in tuning BMWs, and they have some extremely interesting upgrades for the M2, including a delicious carbon induction/intake kit branded Eventuri - an absolute must if you enjoy induction sounds. They also have specifically tailored flash tunes that could send your car's power figures dangerously close to supercar territory. A simple flash tune can see figures of over 500 horsepower!
I highly recommend you check them out.
Enjoy your car in good health, and do update your thread frequently :)
Congratulations buddy, nicely put up ownership review of this exotic. This is one of the most good looking and my favourite car in the M line up. People may keep cribbing about spending money on depreciating assets, blah blah but we enthusiasts know the value of spending money on things like these.
Was checking BMW site and saw the 5 years BSI+ with 5 year warranty costs under 5 lacs which is so pleasing for a car of this class. They have really made BSI much more affordable now and it would be a pleasing thing for the owner as well because all service aspects are covered. Bmw's in India have been doing fairly well when it comes to reliability so that is an added advantage.
Just wish BMW spruced up the interiors of the M cars, same iDrive, similar steering wheel, instrument cluster, dash design as the 3 series is not called for when you are spending thrice the amount, they need to differentiate this better.

Thanks! :)
Yes, I'm aware of Evolve and Imran, watched many of their videos (his M5 consistently embarrasses supercars). I've been researching all sorts of mods for the car, everything from tunes to charge air coolers to water meth injection kits, and everything in between!
The car from the factory is already plenty quick for this size and chassis and honestly, you don't need a lot more for a RWD drive car. If at all anything, I'd like to unlock the top end in this which has been limited in software vs the M3/M4. But at the moment, enjoying the car as-is and whenever I am in a position to spend, will probably start with the exhaust and then go from there.
Congratulations Reesnat! This is one of the cars in my dream garage! It's an absolute gem and clearly shows that BMW still cares about the driving pleasure! I would encourage you to keep this thread alive with more updates.
I wish you many happy miles with this beast!
Congratulations on your purchase and its a dream car for many Bimmer fans out here.
On the exhaust you can also check up with Racetech India for the Remus catback racing exhaust system. The Remus sounds absolutely brilliantclap:

Thank you!
Yes, I agree, they need to differentiate the interiors of M cars better.
BSI+ is definitely a very positive step and influenced my decision a fair bit. For the sake of clarity of others, the prices you've shared do not include GST18%. But still, they are worth it for a car like this.

Thank you! Yes I am in touch with RaceTech who also handle Akrapovic and I was all set to commit to them for this exhaust, but then Corona happened and I've put that on hold till my cash flow situation eases.
Wonderful. The color looks great. Did you have any consideration for the Z4 m40i? I guess it's more a GT car. Both have near identical performance figures outside the track. Honestly, as an overall package, the M2 makes sense with more power and practicality but it's hard not to fall for the Z4's styling and interior. Congratulations again on the acquisition.

Frankly, the Z4 was never a consideration for me. I think the Z4 as a car for those that want to make a statement, arrive in style, Or in other words a lifestyle product.
I don’t consider it a focused sports car like the M2, which is what I was after.
