I’m damn sure it’ll cost a bomb to get this fixed in the KIA service center. Need to check for some good third party solution.

Ouch!! That looks a long nasty one.

Did you get it rectified? Why not the Kia service center since this will be covered under insurance?

re: Ownership Review | My Kia Seltos 1.5L HTK+ Diesel AT | EDIT: Sold at 46,000 km

Nice informative thread on Seltos Diesel AT.

What's the mileage in city and highway are you getting on your Seltos Diesel AT?Asking because we are considering Seltos Diesel AT or Creta Diesel AT as a replacement for our almost 10 year old Innova, which we are selling it off soon due to its age and poor FE.

And,HTK+ Diesel AT seems to be VFM with those features. The price difference of Rs.3-4L has made you purchase HTK+ Diesel AT over HTX+ Diesel AT and GTX+ Diesel.

It’s around 15-16 kmpl on highways and 11-12 kmpl in cities. The general average for the last 7K kms is around 14 kmpl.

Thanks for the reply!Glad that the Seltos is giving 14 Kmpl on average and I guess the mileage would improve after crossing 10K Kms!

Meanwhile,I had TD’ed Seltos Diesel MT and was quite impressed with its light clutch along with light steering and easy to drive in city! Now,planning to TD Seltos Diesel AT soon!

Finally got some time to get the scratch fixed. Claimed insurance and got it fixed from Advaith Kia, Banashankari. The complete cost was covered by the insurance. They took 3 days to fix it. The quality of the work is top notch.

One can't make out that there was such a deep scratch here. Fortunately they didn't stick the ugly "DIESEL" sticker on the fuel tank cap:

Also noticed that they had carried out the fuel pump inspection as part of the recall. They didn't find any issues with it:

Had to drive to Kurnool this morning for some work. Clicked few pics in front of its birth place

Congratulations on completing 5k mark and thank you so much for keeping this thread alive.

My friend has manual Tata Harrier 2020 2.0 l Diesel engine. He is getting 16-18 kmpl start from beginning. On highway if car is driven on light foot then it easily crosses 20 kmpl mark. As Harrier is bigger and heavier car than Seltos and engine is also powerful. What could be the reason of low mileage ( relatively) in Seltos ?
Is it due to AT ?

Yes, it might be due to AT as it always returns less FE compared to MT. Driving a Seltos Diesel AT with a light foot may return around 18-20 kmpl.

Neat work!
Did they replace any of the parts or its just the tinkering job?

But having this sticker does help, isnt it ? Its a conscious reminder for pump attendants to direct the car to the right dispenser and pick the right nozzle. I used to run without sticker for sometime and could notice questionable looks on their face, but with the sticker, I can see assured looks on them !

Nothing was replaced, just tinkering.

It does help at the fuel stations but the sticker looked like some roadside shop installation rather than a professional one. They could have use a bit smaller font and better styling to make it look more professional

re: Ownership Review | My Kia Seltos 1.5L HTK+ Diesel AT | EDIT: Sold at 46,000 km

10000 km service update:

The car crossed 10000 km last week and hence serviced the car at Advaith Kia, Lalbagh this morning. The car is running absolutely fine with no issues. 95% of the driving was on highways. I rarely visit any places within city limits these days. As usual it's a joy to drive this car on highways.

Few pics from the last week's Bangalore - Hyderabad highway run:

Service update pics shared by SA in WhatsApp:

Along with these pics, SA also shared the videos of oil change and other works that were carried out. The car was washed and the interiors were cleaned. It was good to see that the service center used clean microfiber clothes for cleaning instead of the usual dirty rags. The overall service experience was great. I used to be a satisfied customer of Advaith Hyundai during my i20 days and happy to see that Advaith Kia too provides the same level of service.

Rat Menace

A rat has been lurking around in our neighborhood since few weeks and has already created havoc with my neighbor's Swift. Observed some rat poop below my car last week and it was time for me to get into action. Just used the tried and tested method of placing tobacco leaves under the bonnet. This was proved to be effective with my previous car when none of the rat repellents worked.

The AC disinfectant in the list, isn't that snake oil? I can't find sanitization charges, was that complimentary or is the list not screenshotted fully

It’s actually an expensive snake oil.

I was never charged for sanitization charges in any of the 3 service visits. So I believe it’s complimentary.

re: Ownership Review | My Kia Seltos 1.5L HTK+ Diesel AT | EDIT: Sold at 46,000 km

20,000 km service update:

Just realized it's exactly a year since I updated this thread. The car is running fine with no issues.

We have had great memories with this car over the last year. We welcomed a new member into the family last year and he is enjoying the long drives in this car. Since we do a lot of road trips, we decided to get him used to it at an early age so that he feels comfortable with it:

We did several drives to coastal Karnataka which is my hometown. Our baby too accompanied most of the road trips and he is absolutely enjoying it. This car is a joy to drive on highways. As I have already mentioned several times in this thread, the engine + AT gearbox is a match made in heaven. The car was driven 95% on the highways over the last year.

At my wife's ancestral place near Mangalore:

Odometer touched 20,000 km last week and hence decided to get it serviced at Advaith Kia, Lalbagh on Friday.

The service cost breakup:

I could have avoided stuff like wheel alignment, polishing, waxing getting done from here, but I absolutely don't have time these days for visiting specialists. I just wanted to get everything done on the same day under one roof. For a few of those who have seen my old i20 thread, I used to spend a great amount of time detailing the car. But I have now realized that detailing the car in our country with cities that resemble dust bowls is like trying to win a losing battle and hence just wanted to get some basic polishing and waxing done from here. All the efforts of detailing just go for a toss as soon as the car is taken out. I no longer care for those swirl marks or perfect water beadings, just want the car to look clean and shining up to some extent. I used to have 50+ detailing products for my i20 whereas it has reduced to a Jopasu duster, a car shampoo, and a basic wax

As usual, I started getting the updates with photos and videos as soon as the service started:
