After yet another puncture, here is what I got when driving sedately on Hubli - Hampi road, in comfort mode no less. This was I think for a total of 50+ kms and full load, so it can indeed can give great mileage. But it is difficult to fight the urge to not move into sport mode on an open road.

Currently at 23K km and CBS suddenly popped up with a service message for 01/2023 or 3.8K km. This was after a spirited Italian tune-up style drive

Was initially surprised as the CBS was earlier showing 4/2023 / ~6K km for my third service. Went into the menus to find the brake fluid and rear brake pads were the suspect. Is this normal?

Further, I'm not having much luck with the "i" in my 330i. Pressure-washed the 3 yesterday, and was lucky to see the 'i' dangling when I returned. Exploring de-badging it. Any thoughts, anyone?

Need to detail it too. Waiting for this wretched rain to stop. Also planning to wrap the interior piano black inserts in the dashboard and center console. They are badly swirled even after taking extreme care.

Found these nice ones off Bimmerpost - will check with 3M India if they have similar.

Something like this would be ideal! https://www.3mindia.in/3M/en_IN/p/d/b40069757/

Any Bangaloreans know of any outfits doing good interior wrapping?

Had an errand to run; went down to see this:
Anyway, drove carefully to my tyre shop and got it fixed.

And after strenuous washing.

No no. This is the picture with zero pressure and hence looks abnormal.

Tread is anyway gone and needs replacement.

https://classifieds.team-bhp.com/buy...ver-Tire.html/

The 135/80/17 space saver tyre (SST) is 3x the price of a 225/50/27 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tubeless tyre.
Experts can comment but is there such a difference in the SST technology involved? Or is it a purely monopolistic approach due to lack of competition?

There's no special SST technology. You're just comparing the cost of a Rim + Tyre (in case of the SST) to the cost of only the Michelin tyre.

Not convinced. A steel rim is available for a pittance. Even a VAG rim is priced at <5K. Still doesn't explain the 3x delta

It's a BMW. That explains the delta

It's a "light alloy" wheel. Not steel. Priced at ~250Euro for just the rim+ tyre without the jack set. I've heard of this being sold with the jack for <30K in India, so it's not exorbitantly overpriced vs the rest of the world.

I stand corrected , thank you.

Is it true that the SST has to be discarded after 80-100 km of usage? GTO mentioned it here -->>https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-...-solution.html (Pics: BMW's incredibly stupid spare tyre solution), but I am unable to find anything authoritative on this.

No, it doesn't have to be discarded. Dr AD just drove ~500km on this SST
The RFT on the other hand will need to be replaced if you drive 80kms on it while it's flat.

I do not thin SSTs have such a low life. No, they do not have to discarded after 80-100km range. I double checked the post by GTO that you referred to, and he clearly says that a RFT has to be discarded after 80-100km driving after it goes fully flat. Not the space saver tyre!

Exactly! I drove more than 500km on SST. Not just that, after completing the trip, I thoroughly inspected the SSTs by a tyre expert I trust, and they confirmed the SSTs were totally fine. There was no visible damage or wear at all on the SST. I drove very carefully and slowly on the SST. The only mistake I did was running them on 36psi instead of 60psi. However, thanks to my car being very lightly loaded, I got away with this mistake. But in the net, zero damage to SST.

Not just the SST, but I inspected the entire car thoroughly at Navnit BMW, and they confirmed that front brakes, brake pads, suspensions, transmission everything is in perfect shape. Absolutely no issues anywhere.

So yes, if one is careful, SSTs can hold the car for a good distance, and no, they do not have to be discarded after 80-100km of running.

Ok, peace on Earth - I misinterpreted GTO's post. Glad to hear the SST is sturdy enough - I'd hate to pay 30K for that motorcycle tyre

re: My 2020 BMW 330i Sport (G20) Review. EDIT: 2 years & 27,000 km up

I was wondering how many of you were setting up and using the Sport Individual option in drive mode. Of late I have been setting it up this way

Steering: Sport
Engine: Sport
Transmission: Comfort

Not for any other reason that just to have a different drive experience. It feels like a mild Sports version. Makes me wonder how many people use it. I don't really use the Individual option and would move to Sports when driving spiritedly and occasionally to Sports Plus when the fancy strikes.

Do you have a favourite customization?
