Re: Mahindra Thar Review : First Drive

This indeed is going to be a very interesting weekend. 2nd Oct still seems eons away.
Any birdie inputs on pricing yet, how much I wish to fulfill this dream. I love the"rocky beige" but wife is stick at "red". I won't complain till I am able to get it in the garage.

Any inputs on diesel auto yet? Have mostly seen reviews on petrol auto. Has anyone got any inputs on diesel auto. Petrol auto is too much of a gas guzzler, so if I do plan for an auto, it will be diesel auto only, else diesel manual.

Also, for those of you who have already put in booking money with the dealer, what's the input on first batch deliveries? And what if you cancel later?

XUV 3OO gets an AMT, whereas it is a proper 6 speed torque converter on the Thar.

Please don't go by the same experience.

I put in the booking on 13 August, word is the first batch may arrive with the test drive vehicle or a week later. That's what I'm hearing. If you wish to cancel the booking amount will be refunded.

Yes, I meant I had a horrible experience with the AMT that I didn't even consider the TC equipped Thar. But the video which I linked amused me. The shifts were crisp.

It is already up by 2,75,000 with 2 hours or so remaining and you can see few individuals in the race trying to up bid in the last hours.

By the way, I called up the Mahindra showroom near my place (Bommanahalli for those in Bangalore) to inquire about the TD vehicles. They said it's not confirmed yet and they cannot guarantee if they will have it on 2nd, nor are they aware which versions will be there. I presumed the TD vehicles would have been dispatched by now with 2nd Oct round the corner, but sadly not. I want to get TD this weekend and book asap to avoid waiting for long, but stars don't seem to align. Anyone else has any info on TD vehicles ?

At that price, I hope they at least throw in the floor mats / extended warranty etc for free.

They should include lifetime free service as well as part replacement.

Glad to see people willing to shell out so much for the good of the society.

You bet! In fact, the buyer should get unlimited km/lifetime warranty. That's the most useful "accessory" to go with a brand new M&M vehicle

I highly doubt that coz such a public auction if manipulated can have serious consequences for a company. Don't think M&M would risk its repute for such a thing. They have to at the end of the day annonce a winner on Oct 2nd and people can defenitely do a check and get the company into trouble.

My amusement would be.. if the top bidder back off and then the next and the next, and finally someone down the line, who just would have participated for fun landing up with the vehicle. That would be

On a related topic, was just wondering how well, or if at all, the Mahindra dealerships would be handling Covid-19 protocols of sanitising the interiors, considering there would be crowds milling around for a test drive due to the long weekend, aggravated further by the limited availability of test drive vehicles. The ardour to check out the most desirable outdoorsy vehicle shouldn't end with one having to check in at a medical centre for a long stay indoors
