I drove the top end Sonet with the black interiors. I feel that the dual tone looks much better and as you said convey a sense of space.

I was surprised to see the pic of the cabin. I mean I haven't seen the dual tone interiors before. All I saw was the black interiors which i felt was too claustrophobic. The dual tone actually looks superb to me.

Yes, The lighter dual-tone interior gives more airiness to the cabin. Thanks a lot for the wishes.

Hey congrats on your ride and for the initial ownership reviews.
I have booked a Venue iMT myself and hopefully it will be equally good.

Thanks a lot and congratulations to you too on the car. Venue will have the exact same iMT drive feel. I had driven iMT before picking Sonet.

Congrats on the Sonet Satya! Red indeed looks good in Sonet apart from black.

Don't worry about the dealer orders, most of the dealers have such an attitude in Bangalore and it's best to tweet such discrepancies to the manufacturer. They do take action on such errant dealers. P.S this Kia Showroom was earlier Metro Ford and no surprise that these people have not communicated transparently. Even when I had been there before I was treated in a similar way. I just cancelled my booking and went to a different dealer.

How is the iMT's performance on ghat roads and mall ramps.

Also is the wheel a steel wheel styled alloy? My suggestion would be to change those wheels to a black alloy, it would look swell on that red color!!

Hope you have trouble free miles and memories with the Sonet!

Hello Sathya,

Please do share the city and highway fuel efficiency figures when you have them.
Stock stereo:- Is the performance adequate or need speaker upgrades .

Thanks -

Yes. I will share them along with first service update.
I am no audiophile and I am happy with the speakers. Clarity at higher volume is something that I can spot and this speaker was good on that front.

Many congratulations Satya for being one of the first owners of the Sonet here!.

The red, I think, is the most dazzling of colours and stands out :thumbs up.

If there is one doubt that people have in their minds about Kia and their products, it is their long term reliability. Owners like you can keep us posted here. But being Hyundai's sibling, I have no doubts in my mind that these are very capable products.

Very much interested in the IMT!. A great new innovation!.

Congrats Sathya Once Again!!

How is the alloy hunting shaping up.

Congratulations Sathya on your new Sonet. The red color looks amazing. The light colored interior looks premium and airy. Though I'm not a big fan of sunroofs, the sunroof pictures you have posted makes me think that they indeed make a difference. Very nice and detailed post of your new car. Would like to know the fuel efficiency figures during spirited driving. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

Congratulations Sathya on your new purchase, color of the car is impressively good (in fact, my favourite color). Can you differentiate the Pros and Cons of the iMT and fully AT variants in Sonet?, really looking forward to know the differences.

Congrats, I got my HTX + as well from VST KIA and I know what you are talking about in terms of sales support :D However, they did not pressurize me to buy insurance from them.

I've driven my car around 400KMS , all city and 90% 2nd-3rd gear.. getting 13.5KMPL (1.5 diesel manual).
You should have got the mudflaps from dealer, it's not available elsewhere. Let me know if you find one.

I started seeing the Sonet on the road regularly now and looks like most of the customers were forced to buy the chrome package. The exterior looks yuck with all those chrome everywhere and spoils the looks of the car.

No trust me it is not at all forced. These dealers dont have much in stock, even mudflaps... the chrome package is on demand :D

Congrats on the car Sathya.
We also bought a red Sonet and the car looks absolutely lovely in this colour.

On a different note, our dealer experience in Mumbai was similar to your, whereas in Indore at Shri Kia (we bought the car from Shri) the experience was nothing but pleasant. The SA advisor was prompt in following up, didn't pressurise for their insurance or any accessories, he delivered the car to us at home at our time of choosing, and he said we're suppose to receive Rs 5000 back for some cashback or something, he gave me constant updates about that every few days saying that the cheque is almost ready and he'll do the deposit also for me. Tbh the only gripe I could point out if I really had too would be that at the end of every call he keeps asking if I can refer someone, it seems every week he has some or the other model ready at hand that he wants to deliver, last week it some HTX model and this week its GTX.

Wow! congratulations on the Sonet!

Looks amazing!

I am curious about the IMT performance and serviceability. Also about the costs involved in the long term maintanenece

Congratulations on the new car. Looks fantastic. Since you had such a poor experience with this dealer , are you going to pick another place for service? I would be a bit apprehensive about their service too.

Congratulations Sathya on the new car. I am planning to book Sonet HTX Diesel Manual and wanted your view on the rear seat comfort especially on the bad roads compared to other cars.Hearing a lot that the suspension is stiff especially for rear seat occupants.I was fine when i test drove the vehicle but my dad felt bumps. We currently own a fiest classic.

I have booked this car in GTX+ Diesel Auto and I haven't slept in the last 10 days. Why? I am worried about the ride quality. After paying 16 lakh rupees, I don't want to be complaining about something basic. Please do note that I have been using the elite i20 (16inchers) from last 5.5 years and I hate the ride it gives. Many now say that KIA SONET is worse than that. Is it true?

Is the ride robbing off the experience of this beautiful car?

The ride quality isn't as bad as you think it is. I think it's pretty pliant in the city with a tad bit of firmness; this firmness keeps it super stable on the highway. I'm waiting for the delivery of my GTX+ Diesel AT as well. 10 more days :D

Furthermore, I'm going to be upgrading the tyres right after taking delivery of the car. Swapping the super lame MRF's for Continental MC5s of the same size. I'm sure that the ride quality and smoothness will improve considerably after that.
