Analogy would be, in a court of law a convict is innocent until proven guilty and not guilty until proven innocent. Going by their past results, where their cars have consistently scored above 4 stars in GNCAP, I would definitely expect even these cars to score at least above 4 stars. | |

| ![]() Some feature misses that could have been avoided- 1) Connected car tech provided, but no option of remote start-stop and AC control (Perhaps the most important connected car feature) 2) HIDs provided only on the top spec variant. Simply unnecessary, they could have provided it as standard. I am not sure how premium the yellow projector lights on this 20+ L costing SUV will look like. Needless to say the illumination won't be any spectacular either. 3) Puddle lights. This may not seem like a huge miss, but wherever I have gone in my Ecosport S, people are amazed by the puddle lights. Considering 2019 Harrier had it, they could have reintroduced it. I wish they could have atleast given a timeline as to when they will be announcing the prices. Last edited by 07CR : 26th January 2021 at 19:37. |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() Saw it and was waiting for price reveal. They also kept invoking D8 pedigree to harp on safety without any GNCAP ratings to show. |

| ![]() I don't know what's wrong with Tata motors. Don't they understand these segments, or their product management team is filled with pure idiots? Dear Tata motors, please please please, for god's sake, sack your product planning team. If Tata doesn't deliver a sticker shock with this list, this is going to be eaten alive by the likes of Crysta, upcoming XUV, Scorpio etc and spitted out of their tail pipes. Apologies for my hard words dear fans, but this is inevitable. Look at the feature list, particularly the list of equipment in XM. And anyone, just tell me one thing, even if this costs 1.5-2 lac lesser than (and I can bet, they won't be able to maintain this gap) an Innova Crysta GX, why would one want to put their money on it? We already saw pics of XE with stick adjusting mirrors! Which 15 lac+ costing car gets it? Even XUV W4 gets electric adjustment, Scorpio has it standard now. ![]() Anand and his team must be having a hearty laugh right now, this is not how a path breaking product is supposed to be, not by any stretch of imagination. Edit: It's good they named it Safari, that will help it probably stay afloat! Last edited by VKumar : 26th January 2021 at 20:01. |

| ![]() Their site still says, "Arriving in showrooms this January", what a goof up on TML's part. Regarding the prices not being revealed, I'm just as disappointed as anybody else. Important to note that the Safari now gets mood lighting. Really a bummer that the Safari skips out on the "now essential features" like wireless charging, better camera quality, ventilated seats, 360° camera, etc. I feel they could have included an electrically operated front passenger seat in the top variant. This would have made the "Boss Mode" so much cooler. Just press a button and the seat goes all the way ahead creating max legroom for the "boss"! (something similar to the Camry.) A digital instrument cluster would have been the cherry on top! With all this, it looks like Tata was much better positioning this is as the Gravitas or even the Harrier Plus! This, by no means looks different from a 7 seater Harrier! Why spoil the Safari Lineage just for a 7 seater Harrier? I feel Tata won't have to think much about what to do in the facelift for they've already left out so many nice to have's! Last edited by advaydh : 26th January 2021 at 19:54. | ![]() Tata Motors has unveiled the all-new Safari. The SUV will be available in 6 variants - XE, XM, XT, XT+, XZ and XZ+. ![]() The new Safari is based on the OMEGARC platform that is shared with the Harrier. It features Tata's latest Impact 2.0 design. The car gets a familiar front fascia which is identical to the Harrier, however it gets a few embellishments like chrome inserts on the grille that help differentiate it. The grille is flanked by slim LED daytime running lights, while the main headlamp clusters are positioned lower down on the front bumper. It gets projector headlamps as standard, while 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels are offered on higher variants. ![]() On the inside, the new Safari gets Oyster White seat upholstery and Ashwood trim on the dashboard. The design of the dashboard itself has been carried over from the Harrier. It features an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SUV will be offered in 6 and 7-seat configurations. The 6-seat version gets separate captain seats in the second row. ![]() Tata Safari feature highlights:

![]() The new Safari is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 170 BHP and 350 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. It has three drive modes - Eco, Sport and City. The car also gets Terrain Response modes - Normal, Wet and Rough. Tata Safari safety features:

| ![]() First impression: the car would look better in person than in pictures. Also dark colors would suit it better than lighter ones. The step could be well hidden in dark tones. They should have announced price though, wondering if they are holding back to gauge the public response to the launch and then decide. Maybe they have 2 sets of prices and final decision would depend on market reaction ? Last edited by ScorpWarp : 26th January 2021 at 20:31. |

| ![]() Not revealing the prices has definitely given me a bad impression. I was eagerly waiting for this car. But such acts show that the company is not confident enough about their offering and that would make me think twice before even considering it now. |

| ![]() Firstly, why is there no mention of price at the event? I am really surprised, the folks at Tata are still not ready to reveal the price at the launch. I really don't understand the point of such unveils, neither a proper brochure is provided in public domain nor the pricing is available. Secondly, I don't understanding their principle of Poorly equipping their vehicles (especially the entry level variants)? Just have a look at the Equipment list for XE & XM! Just have a look at the way the XE dashboard looks like! To add insult to injury, I am sure they will introduce other restrictions too, like only "White" color for XE variants. |
