14000KM Update

Been 11 months since I got never thought I would clock 14K, with 2 months of lockdown. Engine is a monster especially in Sport mode, I have almost stopped using Eco mode altogether. Normal mode for relaxed driving and Sport mode for highways. Another aspect that I need to highlight is the AC, with Ventilated seats, I feel cold if I set temperature anything less than 26. Wonder sometimes if the Auto AC is malfunctioning :). Fuel efficiency is 11-14 on highway depending on my mood. City has been mostly 10-11. Its easily possible to extract more, however its almost impossible for me to keep the 200HP motor quiet.

Except one, rest of the tires look good for another 25-30K KM or even more. As per Toyota brake pads should be good for another 20K or more, which of course may change depending on driving pattern.

After the Endeavour departed, Fortuner will share the garage with 320Ld, got this beauty home today. As they say horses for courses, this car is on opposite pole . Yes whenever I drive 320, I have to change bit of my driving but then after numerous test drives, I felt it's worth changing, especially when there is Fortuner and Innova in the garage.

A quick query regarding filling the Adblue.
On 1000 service, the service guy handed me 5l bottle with 4l content remaining. Now after driving 5500km, I am getting low warning, with 2300km limit.
Now as I am checking the bottle instructions, it is saying not to consume the bottle again if it is opened, and also not to reuse the spout.
I am going to discard the bottle anyways being strict follower of the instructions;)

Range looks ok, a tankful should last between 5-7K. If you have stored safely, should be safe to use unless you have bought long back. You may also try AdBlue from Indian Oil or other fuel station, they are cheaper.

So, as long as it is stored correctly (below 30 deg.C, away from sun light), it may be OK to reuse. But I think the best think to do is get a new 5L can and top up as soon as the MID warning appears. It should consume all 5 litres at this time, so no storage hassles.

Back from another memorable weekend. Rains have reduced but western ghats is still lush green. Place where I stayed let me use 4H throughout stay and was fun exploring some of the trails. Stock HTs are good on tarmac but a superior AT will be great if one wants to do lot of off-roading.

Took for short 150KM spin on new year to KL. With this journey, car clocked 15K KM's and must say every trip in Fortuner has been memorable. Best part is even on what was our routine boring drive to Bangalore, we end up exploring newer routes, which otherwise I would not have dared to try in in 4x2. BS6 diesel is complex however has not been as tough I thought it would be. 3-4 AdBlue top up in 15K KM's and touch wood, no complications due to BS6 so far. With BS6 Toyota has skipped 5K service interval and instead we have this refill. Only change is latter doesnot need a visit to service center.
Hopefully COVID shows us some mercy in 2022 and looking forward to memorable journeys with my steed.

Completed another 700KM trip to Bangalore and it was business as usual. For my time of journey, prefer Shiradi ghat as it's generally the quickest. This time around got stuck in traffic between Hassan and Sakleshpur. On return journey took Sakleshpur-Harle- Marnahalli route mainly because of the drive rather than avoiding the bad stretch.

Fortuner was topped up with Xtragreen and on return leg found a station immediately after toll booth near Hassan which was dispensing Xtragreen. I could not see noticeable difference in fuel efficiency but engine feels smoother to rev and more importantly have noticed regens are getting extended. For my driving style regen happens at around 200KM mark with regular fuel, with Xtragreen regen happens at interval of 240-250KM. One of the tire has additional wear and most likely will last another 15-20K only. ODO is currently at 16K KM.

Thank you for your kind words. I love to drive my cars and take them out. Fortuner is capable of going places and can be fun when you use for it's abilities.

Was a slow realization, nonetheless Fortuner completed 1 year with me. With Covid, time just flew by and 16K KM came out of no where lol:. Heck I did not travel so much even pre Covid. From exploring beaches of Goa to temple runs , from hill stations in western ghats to my second home(bangalore-mangalore highway) , Fortuner has munched miles without breaking sweat. 4 lane highways, state highways, off road or no roads, didn't matter much and every journey has been memorable. The fortuner reminds me of Ecosport we had, stiff suspension, fun to drive and go anywhere, Fortuner taking this to whole new level, thanks powerful engine and 4x4 capabilities.

Could not go for a drive on 1st anniversary but got a nice wash and some detailing.

A year since I bought yet feels like new until I see the ODO.

Any suggestion on adding anything to prevent our dearest fortuner from theft? Are existing OEM stuffs sufficient? Getting nightmares of getting it stolen :unhappy

I don't think there are many reliable after market anti theft stuff which is difficult to break. This is probably only instance where useless Carot app might come in handy. You get notifications and can track your car. Anti theft nuts is something you can consider to safeguard your alloys and tyres afterall each piece will cost upwards of 30-40K.

Update on ride, have been maintaining 32PSi all over and don't find uncomfortable at all. May be the suspension has settled down or I have got used to ride. The other cars I drive do have softer ride, but in comparison don't find Fortuner ride bothersome anymore, infact stiff suspension makes for good highway drive.
Xtragreen fuel definitely seem to improve things, slightly better engine response, and smoother revs. Don't see noticeable difference w.r.to FE or too difficult to compare.

Got AdBlue warning mentioning there is enough fluid that let car run for 2499 KM more. Clocked 470KM since I got the warning and now warning shows, DEF will last another 1870KM. Most of the fuel station now are selling AdBlue which is convenient. The prices though seem to have shot up, Indian oil is selling at about 80RS/L, similar to Toyota. Went for a short trip to Vythiri and was fun exploring places, thanks to 4x4 capabilities. Drive through Coorg was stunning as coffee flowers had bloomed and first time in 16K KMs drove for 50+KM with windows rolled down and without music. The smell from the plantation and growl+turbo whistle from the large 2.8 motor made for a memorable drive. Whoever said " there is no replacement for displacement" is so true.
