I was also surprised that there is not much reviews for the Ciaz AT on the forum currently. Mine could be the first. :D
Also, I am glad the review was well received and how many people actually appreciate the Ciaz.
Someone above pointed out a fact about the SHVS system. Yes, it is true. The start stop works seamless. But when you are doing a three point turn, your car switches off and turns back on several times :uncontrol
For fighting other motorists to squeeze in a tight traffic gap, please turn off the stop start system. Else, you'd be a sitting duck!
Great review @RoadGlide. Brings back the memory of the Ciaz (albeit 1.4 P AT) that my parents own in India. Wish your family happy ownership and you good luck with your studies.
If you're not a pedal to the metal driver, the Ciaz is a wonderful package.

I've driven my parents Ciaz AT in India and the only place it really struggles is highways like the Bangalore-Mysore highway in which traffic speed varies from 60-90kmph. Else, for cruising at 100-110kmph, it is wonderful.
My dad loves the car after making 4 trips to Bangalore - Chennai during the lockdown in the past year.

Well, the 2012 Corolla in the US had a 4 speed AT and many people bought the car. :)

Yes, you are absolutely right. I've seen the difference in the Ciaz and S Cross. Not seen it on the XL6.
Personally felt the engine on the SCross slightly relaxed at higher speeds but not a difference of night and day.
Gearing wise, the S Cross seems more spaced out in that sense. In terms of fuel efficiency, I'm not sure if it really makes a difference. In general, this is a good engine in terms of refinement and driveability and cruises along really well irrespective of its tune clap:

What were the issues that you faced with the AMT? Its something that I could keep in mind during the course of my ownership.

This is honestly very surprising for me as well. But interesting nonetheless. I wonder why this exists. Maybe due to varying weight scales of all 3 vehicles...

Thank you very much Landcruiser123. The only reason I agreed and liked the Ciaz was keeping my parents in mind. If I were to continue to live in India, I would have still tried to get something faster. :D
But I think even I am getting older (in a good way) everytime I drive this car, I am becoming an even more calmer person on the road. rl:
A great detailed review and you have penned down your feeling and thoughts about the car very well. A very good comfortable sedan for long distance & etc etc. One thing most people ignore completely is safety aspect of any car. Except Brezza/S Cross in Maruti lineup almost all cars have below average build quality. I urge fellow members to keep safety priority and choose cars wisely.

Test drove XL6 (Alpha petrol AT). During traffic stops noticed the steering gets hard as the power to the power steering has has been switched off. Its pretty unnerving when you experience it for the first time. I'm okay with AC turning off or the engine taking a nap... but the steering and IIRC the brake pedal also getting hard are just too much.

What use of steering and/or brake would one have while standing still at a traffic light? Anyways, if one needs to make some corrections to the steering and needs power assist, just press the Start-Stop deactivation (or shift into 2/L gear) switch and the car will power back on.

Hi, I would like to let you know that the Ciaz scored 4 stars in the ASEAN NCAP. I do think that is decent at best. I think you are just carrying a pre conceived notion that Maruti cars are below average build quality.

I agree. It is unnerving the first time but it is something I am used to know. AC Compressor also cuts off.

Agreed or just put it in N and release the brake pedal. The engine turns back on.
Jatco? The automatic box is from Aisin-Warner. Aisin is a Toyota family company. Somebody had posted the automatic gearbox picture with "aw" inscription on it in a Ertiga ownership thread.

I have a daily running of around 70-80kms in Delhi and don't want to buy another diesel due to 10yr rule in Delhi.

Apologies for the late response. Happy New Year !
Regarding CNG compatibility with Ciaz, I think it should be just fine because the K series engine generally has worked well with CNG. I am not sure how the K15 with the SHVS will work but previous pre facelift models with the K14 work well with CNG.
A small update:
The car has been serviced for its 40k kms service at 39,500 kms. Total bill was 8,xxx rupees. It included regular filters and oil changes. Also, with the service, the recall work was done for the SHVS battery. I cannot comment on the changes immediately as I have shifted countries but my dad is overall quite satisfied with the work done and how everything was dealt with.

Are you sure about this? I was under the impression that the 4speed AT is the same as the one used in A-Star; the JATCO 405e.
