A relative has the 2016 Camry hybrid, which, on paper has much higher groud clearance but when loaded with 2-3 passengers scrapes most medium to large sized speed breakers in Chennai. The BMW has a much more robust suspension which does not sag on loading. The only times I have had issues on the BMW is when encountering those steep driveway ramps that start abruptly off the road. The car tends to rub it's nose at the start point.
Thanks, bad roads are not an issue and agree with you on the car's suspension. The long wheelbase increases the potential for scraping the belly. Don't know much about speed breakers in Chennai - Mumbai has some monstrous ones that are really hard on cars

Welcome to the BMW Family , Dear sir. The car looks absolutely Beautiful! I have this huge soft spot for the G30 5 Series which in my opinion has the perfect sedan proportions. Wish you thousands of happy miles on your Beemer and do keep spoiling us with pictures and details.

Thanks, when buying the car I deduced that the difference between the pre-LCI and LCI was minor. In my opinion both models look super

Re: My Blue Bestie | BMW 520d (G30) | Initial Ownership Review

Update @ 3000 kms

The car logged 3000 kms on 18th August, in under 6 months since purchase. The low mileage is partly due to the second lockdown.

Adding a few pictures of the interior:-

The fuel economy ex-works is 14.7 km/l

Fuel economy since refuelling is even better at 15.9 km/l

Also got the iDrive 7 updated - minor tweaks & Android Auto enabled. Thanks to Infinity Cars.

I have not been able to take good photographs due to consistent rains - will do so hopefully soon.

Hi, my first post. My 520d gives FE of 22kmpl with 50:50 city and highway driving. HK music system is the balanced beast. BSM colour. Deft handler and great suspension. Alas windscreen had crack from road pebble.

Re: My Blue Bestie | BMW 520d (G30) | Initial Ownership Review

1st Year Service Update

Did the 1st year service on 4th March 2022 at 5426 kms.

The engine oil & engine filter required to be changed. Since I had the Service Package, the service was free. I believe that if the car runs 12000 - 13000 km a year, then the service package makes sense, in my case this service would have cost less than 15k, so the 3 year/40k service package is not worth it.

Last week, I got an email from the dealer stating that self levelling wheel caps are available for BMW cars, price Rs. 8,596/-. I have always loved the Rolls-Royce wheel caps, so I got them fitted

Re: My Blue Bestie | BMW 520d (G30) | Initial Ownership Review

Got an email from the BMW dealer stating that the LTE Compensator has to be changed due to some regulation. The LTE Compensator improves mobile communication; however the LTE Compensator fitted in my car does not meet the country specific radio license in India. till date, I have not faced any issues with mobile communication while in the car.

Had the LTE Compensator changed in 30 mins. It is fitted under the rear seat and required removal of three connections and two bolts.

Have any of you received an email regarding the LTE Compensator? I was told that many cars require the LTE Compensator to be changed.

Hey, I also got the LTE compensator changed when I visited the Service centre last week in my 330i (G20).

I asked him what is it for and he said its due to some government norms etc.

Re: My Blue Bestie | BMW 520d (G30) | Initial Ownership Review

10,000 km Update:

The car completed 10k on 8th December 2022 while driving to Pune.
My Blue Bestie | BMW 520d (G30) | Initial Ownership Review-b19ebde476444c12ab54506da60ce3de_1_105_c.jpeg

Did the 2nd Year Annual Maintenance under the BSI package at 11.5k on 4th March 2023 @ Infinity Cars, Turbhe.

Parts renewed:
  • Air Filter
  • Cabin Air Filter
  • Oil Filter
  • Engine Oil

Had a small mishap while driving to work last Friday, 24th March from Cuffe Parade to Turbhe. I was on the Eastern Freeway and as soon as I exited the northbound tunnel at Chembur a bird flew straight onto the windshield - and the windshield cracked. It all happened in micro seconds and there was no time to react. I was at about 70 km/h.

My Blue Bestie | BMW 520d (G30) | Initial Ownership Review-115800091f664c92b236acd28aec9cc7_1_105_c.jpeg

Drove straight to Infinity Cars, Turbhe and filed an insurance claim. Fortunately, I had opted for a NCB protection and the windshield is covered under this add-on policy. Ended up paying the deductible of Rs. 2,000/- only for replacement of the windshield.

Got the car back last evening.

Re: My Blue Bestie | BMW 520d (G30) | Initial Ownership Review

I am facing a unique issue with my car. Since delivery I have driven about 12000 kms and there has hardly been any consumption of Ad Blue. The car shows top up of 0.1L. Most of my driving is from south Mumbai to Turbhe via Eastern Freeway and Sion - Panvel Highway where average speeds are 70-80 km/hr.

I got this checked at Infinity Cars, Turbhe and they said that the diagnostics did not show any fault.

Would appreciate feedback from other BMW owners, thanks.

When the car went for annual service twice; that time Service Center would have topped up Ad-Blue. Since your car is covered under BSI, they wouldn't be bothered to inform or bill it.

That's the only possibility.

I have been checking quantity of Ad Blue regularly since I took delivery and there has not been any consumption. Hence I asked on the group

Re: My Blue Bestie | BMW 520d (G30) | Initial Ownership Review

Recently got a letter from BMW India for an Advance Recall for EGR Replacement. It seems that the dealer will check the leak tightness of the engine intercooler and analyse the condition of the EGR cooler using a predefined test program. Based on the above they will determine the replacement parts.

Has any 520d owner received this recall and if yes, what parts have been replaced; thanks
