Re: My Hyundai Creta Diesel MT - An Ownership Review

Dear abhishek46,

Congratulations on your latest acquisition. Nice set of pics.

The Creta S MT Diesel is the best variant to buy, It is the most value for money variant and gets almost all the features that are more practical and necessary.

The S variant though misses out on power-folding mirrors. It can be easily done aftermarket. There are many options are available.

I have to check with the Service Guys on how to do it.
The levers used to fold the seat are used also for reclining. There is hardly any gap between the seat and tray when seats are reclined.

Re: My Hyundai Creta Diesel MT - An Ownership Review

@Abhishek46, Congratulations and wish you a lot of happy (s)miles! Nothing like getting the car you want with the shorted possible wait time.

I got my Creta S Diesel back in Feb 21 (after waiting for 4 months and 2 bookings). The Pandemic did not give enough opportunity to stretch the legs, thus ~3k on odo.

It's a fantastic car.

But agree with your points:
1. Engine - It's really a good one. Silent and pulls through effortlessly. Haven't tested the high speeds but don't think that will be a problem even with a full load.

2. Headlights / Fog lights - I changed over to the SX headlight. Instead, I should have gone for some good upgrade on the stock lights. The fog lights, too are not that good. I just changed them with Blaupunkt LED (9x Pro H27). This combo of headlight and Fog lights works a bit better.

2. The other thing I miss is the adjustable headrest on the second row. Have seen quite a few videos where the rear seat bench was replaced with the top variant. It's on my to-do list (not sure about the cost though)
And that Gap behind the seat is literally a section for Lost and Found!

Here is my list of upgrades:
1. 17 Inches alloy.
2. Yokohama 215/R17
3. Dampening.
4. Upgrade to SX headlight
5. Seat covers, floor lamination, 7d mats.

Re: My Hyundai Creta Diesel MT - An Ownership Review

A Few Updates:

Odo:
The Odo Stands at 600Kms as of now.

A short Day Trip to Barachukki & Gaganachukki Falls:

After remaining confined to the City for a good six months, I headed out on a quick visit to the Barachukki & Gaganachukki Falls.

The route taken was via Kanakapura Road.
A total of 262Km To & Fro.
As per MID, an efficiency of 20.5Kmpl was achieved.

The roads from the NICE road junctions to about 20Kms towards Kanakapura are in pathetic condition.
From there on, the roads are smooth.

Enroute Barachukki:

Ample Parking at Barachukki:

Barachukki Falls:
There is consideration water flow during these monsoon times.

Gaganachukki Falls:
There is construction activity ongoing at the Gaganachukki falls.
This was causing disturbance to the visitors.

Re: My Hyundai Creta Diesel MT - An Ownership Review

Update on the 1st Service

I got the the 1st Service done yesterday, at Advaith ORR Bangalore.

Note: The 1st service is just an inspection service. No fluids are to be changed.

I reached the Service Centre at an early 9:30 am.
Things were pretty well organized, a stark contrast to mess that is to be found at VW service.

I did not have any complaints/issues to be fixed in the vehicle.
Therefore, the turnaround time was mentioned as 2 hours.

Given the quick turnaround time, I took this opportunity to get the seat covers fixed, as those were finally in stock.

Subsequently, the vehicle was handed back at 11:30 am, with the service completed and seat covers also fixed.

As part of the service, the coolant had been topped up, and the vehicle had been cleaned.

Odo & Efficiency till date, at the time of 1st Service.
As per my observation, the MID shows optimistic efficiency figures (by around 1.5-2kmpl).
My usage is around 70% Highway & 30% City.

The Seat covers are of Hyundai Mobis Genuine Accessory Make.
The Quality is just about decent, for the price (Rs7400)
It is not a 100% perfect fit, like the custom made hand stitched ones.

DPF
Hyundai has provided a procedure, which can be followed at home, to clear the DPF, if it is clogged.
This is documented in the User Manual.

There are also some recommendations, that broadly state that too much Idling, Short Trips etc., should be avoided to keep the DPF healthy.

Hello. Congrats for your car. It's been a few about an year since you bought the car and as you said it was mainly used in city for the first six months. Can you please tell us whether you have faced ant DPF warning during these city rides? Also, what driving pattern do you follow to avoid DPF warning? Do you do short city trips or not and what is your daily drive requirements?

Many thanks for your wishes.

My usage is roughly 60% in the city, with frequency of about 2-3 times per week.
Offices are WFH, and that resulted in low usage.
I have done around 3K Kms in 6months of ownership.
Touch wood, I have not faced this DPF issue on my car.

Some practices which I have been following are:
1. Avoiding the super short trips. Every time I start the car, I drive for a minimum 10Kms/30-45mins.
2. Avoid lugging around at super low rpms.
3. Head out a slightly longer 40-50Kms drive, once every 2-3weeks at least.
