I have two 4 legged babies, and they are very naughty, especially when together. I cannot trust them with leather seats, hence they travel in the thar with rear seats folded up

Long time no Update!!!!.
Returned back to Base down under, hence no updates.

Final Update on Endeavour, as she was sold a few weeks after I left the country since it was getting difficult to manage 7 cars, and transmission had started to act funny off late

Had managed to do around 11K kms on her before she was sold.
Completed a little snow drive to close off 2021, a few shots before she left the garage. Updates on Beemer in a few hours, she is going strong.

This was a tricky Curve for the 5.1M Hulk, took me a while to turn, esp in dark as we had 4L on due to ICE on surface.

Re: Solving the AT Quandary | Story of an Endeavour 3.0 4x4 AT and a BMW E90 320d M-Sport

Ever since I got the 320D, I always felt something was not right about the steering wheel, the surface felt slippery and it did not look like proper leather. After doing some research, I realized that what I had in my car was a very special Alcantara Steering wheel. What followed was a bit of disappointment, since I thought that over the years Alcantara had worn out, and what was left on the wheel was just remains of Alcantara

A quick look around told me that a new similar wheel would set me back by at least $1500-$2000 USD including duties etc
Looked around if someone could redo the steering with Alcantara but to no avail. There was definitely some light at the end of the tunnel when I realized that Alcantara does not wear off that easily and all it gathers is dust and grime due to it's porous surface. This is when I started to look for options to restore it, only to figure that all it needed was a nice clean.
An all-purpose foaming cleaner, a couple of microfiber towels, and some elbow grease, and here was the result.

That's how it looked earlier, like faded-out leather

I had tried leather restoration products earlier, that just caused more trouble

The final result, though it may still need some more elbow grease

Hi,great e90 you got there,I also own an e90 330i and that steering which you have is an alcantara steering wheel and needs to be restored. As mine car also has flat bottom alcantara steering it was also in same condition. Would suggest you to use koch chemie pol star it is available on Amazon and change your steering completely. Cheers
