I guess it's a fair price if you get BSI cover for another 2+ years with at least another 30k kms included, plus do check for BRI ( warranty ), if you get another 2-3 years of BRI, I guess it's a good deal as a new one with BSI (5 years) and BRI (5 years ) would cost you 80+ OTR in Bangalore before the discounts.

I've been driving my X3 for a little over 1 year and drove 15,000+ km. I am pretty happy with the drive, however, there are few things that I am finding concerning.

1. We never used the cigarette lighter, but found that it wasn't working when we used after nearly 10 months. BMW team shared that the fuse wasn't working and replaced it in the first service.

2. A/c wasn't very effective and noisy, they replaced the air-filter saying it was choked but it is still noisy and ineffective. Now they are saying they'll replace another part to make it work.

3. Yesterday I saw a bulge in once of the tires and am told that it needs to be replaced. I'll have to pay 25% of the price, even though it is under insurance. BMW team didn't notice/flag anything when the car was given for service in December end.

I've never any such issues with my previous cars, even though they weren't so expensive. Is this normal? Anyone else faced such issues? Coz I am just wondering if they've given me some faulty vehicle.
Thanks Satyajeet. Answers to your questions from my experience and perspective:

1) I am yet to make use of the lighter

2) Haven't faced any such issues in the entire ownership. These type of issues are just incidentals and not a norm for BMW or for that matter any manufacturer.

3) Haven't face this issue either and I don't think it's common! As this surfaced just after one year, please avail the discount that the dealer is extending to replace it with a new tyre, may be go for a set of 2. Experts please comment what's the best practice.

Re: Dream come true | My Phytonic Blue BMW X3 (G01) xDrive 20d Luxury Line Review

To all the overlanders and travel enthusiasts - I will be driving to Leh from Bangalore starting on 30th April. Tentative date to enter the Srinagar - Leh route is 5th May. I have a few questions to people who have first hand experience in this circuit -

1) Do you think driving a BMW in this circuit is a problem? I am kind of aware about road conditions and the terrain and I do feel X3 with 200mm+ ground clearance should be good enough for the road but still want to hear from experts about any known challenges.

2) This year Zoji la got opened in record time by end of March. I hope I can take the Srinagar - Kargil - Leh the route on 5th May?

3) Is there any chance for Leh - Kelong - Manali route to open by 19th May? ( My return drive from Leh will start on this day and I guess Baralacha la was opened partially for light traffic at the end of March this year and then left for inspection )

Update - Completed 30k kms

A bucket list trip to Ladakh from Bangalore in the beast! What a car!!! In a 8500 kms trip not even a single glitch, reliability redefined. Thank you BMW for making such a car. Turned head wherever it went, high mountain passes and some of the remote locations of ladakh including places where there are no roads, this is the first G01 to reach most of the locations!

Sharing few partying shots for now, a detailed trip report is pending.

Man what drool-worthy pictures , eagerly waiting for the detailed travelogue.

And thanks for showing what the X3 is actually capable of, reliability included! Many wouldn’t even dare to take a car with so many electronics to such places including me

Wow! Amazing pictures, and an amazing story! I do not recall reading about or seeing pictures of anyone driving their BMW to Ladakh. This is the first time I am seeing a BMW driven to such stunning locations, and especially to those mountain passes with no roads. Fantastic achievement to drive your X3 to Ladakh! Congratulations to you and I applaud your spirit.

The picture are lovely in their own rights. But the story of someone driving their BMW to Ladalkh is even more newsworthy and inspirational! Thanks for sharing this. The X3 is an amazing machine for sure.

Just amazing, thank you for letting Walter Mittys like me enjoy your experience from my armchair .

By the way, did you give your vehicle for service afterwards? I'm keen to know if there was any unusual wear-and-tear etc.

Thank you mate! Sorry for late response, wasn't following this thread

The car is due for service in another 1k kms. I will keep this thread updated on the findings. I have been driving the car after coming back, haven't noticed anything unusual though, no rattling, no warnings and also no physical signs of damage.
