Great to hear the ordeal is now behind you! More power to you & Asterix !!
Amazing to hear that both you and Asterix are doing good now. The white rims surely look good in the new all spruced up avatar of the Gurkha. Wishing you a great life ahead. :)
After reading through all this, very very glad everything is settled. Wishing you and Asterix many more happy miles ahead!
The white rims and the white top reminds me of the yesteryear's classic Defenders!
Happy to see that you have been reunited with Asterix. Hoping that you will continue to update the thread. All the best and keep on munching miles.
Since the Apterra AT2 245 75 16 were not going too well with the look of Asterix i opted to upgrade the tyres to Maxxis Razr AT811 265 75 16.
These have surely made a huge difference in the overall look and stance of Asterix.
Asterix ground clearance is at about 260 mm at lower arm now. A stock 2021 Gurkha with 245 70 16 tyres has a ground clearance of about 170 mm and a stock BS6.2 (2024) Gurkhas ground clearance is at 230 mm.

I saw you near Bal Bharti School the other day, Oh-boy-Oh-Boy your Gurkha looks menacing. A head turner for sure. clap:
The Hon'ble Court took cognisance of the Chargesheet filed by the CBI clearing me of all charges yesterday, 4th of December 2024.
Thank you once again my Team Bhp family for all the support and genuine love and care shown to me. Hopefully this saga is over for me now.
Congratuations on getting out of the mindless implication in the ill fated incident.
How did you put the car back inits former shape, please post. If possible, please share it on you tube channel also.
Congratulations Manuj! Really happy for you.
Have you received any compensation for the ordeal you have been through?
Many congratulations Manuuj, though God knows you have been punished severely without even a 'prima facie' case.

The court of additional chief judicial magistrate Nishant Garg issued summons to six accused named in the chargesheet for appearance on Dec 20. The six accused are Rau's IAS Study Circle CEO Abhishek Gupta; coaching coordinator Deshpal Singh; and basement co-owners Parvinder Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Harvinder Singh and Tajinder Singh. The chargesheet was filed by the agency under section 61 (2) (criminal conspiracy), read with 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of BNS 2023.

I would have hoped MCD would have also been identified as a culprit for allowing the rot in the whole locality in general, including not clearing up storm water drains that led to this specific horror. And Delhi Police for fabricating charges against an innocent citizen to deflect the media frenzy.
Unless we identify the root of the problem correctly and make the people at the top accountable, our systems will continue to rot, while we keep ourselves busy with band-aid solutions.

Thank you so much. Getting Asterix back into shape was indeed an ask.
It developed starting issues and some strange electrical niggles. Had a full service done where i replaced ALL the fluids (engine oil, diff oil, gear oil, brake oil, coolant, steering oil, transfer case oil) and ALL the filters (engine oil, air and diesel filters).
The door handles were not working properly and were replaced. Quite cheap at Rs.295 each side.
Some fuses were changed all were cleaned and the battery was sent for overnight charging. Contact Cleaner fluid was used to clean all the fuses, relays and contact point for the ECU in the engine bay. This took care of the electrical niggles pretty much.
After that came a deep clean as Asterix was infested with Ants. It had been parked under a Peepal tree during the monsoons for over 2 months at the Police station. There was a mound of leaves on bonnet and roof.
Someone from my family had gone and covered with a huge Canvas cover on day 2 of it being impounded. But someone from the Media in their zeal to take photos had removed the cover and left it on the slushy muddy ground to rot for 2 months.
I had even seats removed for high pressure air and vaccum cleaning.
Then Asterix went for the new Paint scheme to Retro Rraps where they detailed and polished the entire car inside & outside.
It has been 2 months but now but its finally back to its formal condition.

Thank you so much for your good wishes and support.
There is no system of compensation in India for wrongful arrest and then being sent to Tihar Jail too. The laws governing these aspects were written during British times and at that time all Police Officers were British and Indians were their subjects. Hence there was no way for the serville Indians to raise their voices against their masters the British Police Officers.
All a policeman has to say is he did whatever he did as a part of the process of the investigation. Maybe he gets a rap on the wrist by the department - if that even.
My compensation is the outpouring of love and support from my family, friends, team bhp and YouTube family and all the posts and comments in my support from complete strangers online.
The outrage of the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi on the Delhi Police and the investigation being taken away from them and handed to the CBI was a balm on my open wounds. That was my compensation. And thats enough for me. :)

The CBI has only filed their preliminary Chargesheet and the investigation on aspects of corruption and graft by officials of the MCD and Delhi Fire Service are still open and being probed.
Sadly it took 3 innocent lives to be snuffed out for officials to do their work of repairing and fixing the storm water drains. Since that has now been done NO WATER COLLECTS on that road anymore.
If only they had done their jobs earlier this whole disaster would never have occurred.
Those parents would still have their children. Tanya, Shreya and Nevin would have been sitting somewhere in ORN market sipping tea and discussing their UPSC Prelims and Mains preparation. I would have never seen the inside of Tihar Jail nor would i be writing these words that i am.
All that was needed was clean and functional drains.
That is the tragedy. :sadface
Glad its behind you Manuuj. It must have been an incredibly difficult ordeal for you and more so for the families of the young lives lost. The grief of losing children is unimaginable, and it’s heart-wrenching to think about how parents now have to cope with those memories without their loved ones.
It’s also deeply frustrating when investigative agencies seem to focus on scapegoating someone to shift blame, rather than truly addressing systemic failures that could have prevented such a tragedy. It can feel like an added layer of injustice when such actions are taken just to protect the authorities' own image, especially when it’s so clear that someone or something else should be held accountable.
However, it is a relief to know that, in the end, the truth came out. The court and CBI standing up for justice and not allowing innocent people to be wrongly accused shows that there are still checks and balances that can help correct such wrongs. The perseverance of the judicial system in these moments, though slow and difficult, brings a semblance of closure in such tragic situations.
I hope, moving forward, there will be a greater awareness of these issues and a stronger effort to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
This incident reiterates my thoughts that - as a middle class Indian, I am better off staying as far away as possible from government employees, politicians and the like. If any one feels like it they can turn your life upside down on a whim.
The systems in place are much below third world standards. We can trumpet about all our history and culture and what not. This is just the actual fact. Either you become a civil servant and enjoy life (or) just stay the hell away. Move out of the country if you have the opportunity.
