How does Remote Locking Keyfobs work on XUV7OO?

How does Remote Locking on keyfobs work in XUV7OO?
On our XUV Owners group, there was a chatter about a friend leaving his car spare key in the car and was hesitant to lock it thinking it might screw up security system. So the debate and discussions started. Another owner shared this

clip on the group.

Owning to the curiosity in many of us, I decided to do a small experiment knowing what I already knew (wish we could develop the habit of reading user manuals in more detail!): two simple video recordings of how the XUV7OO AX7L keyfob behaves in some specific scenarios:

And specifically the boot, similar to the insta-reel above without build-up though :

I am about to do one more experiment - leave the keyfob inside the car and use Adrenox Remote function to lock or unlock! if that works, I can simply be moving around with just the phone (and there is a wearable app on Apple Watch)!

So in the summary:
  • The Car will not automatically lock you out if you forget the key in the car while taking out stuff from the boot!
  • You can of course leave the spare key inside the car and it shall stay deactivated until the car is unlocked with the same key that was used for locking.
  • There is no change in behaviour if you use request sensor on driver door handle or the buttons on keyfob

Also remember - the safer way to use key is - leave it in your trouser’s zipped pocket so you never leave it anywhere, not even inside the car! It should just technically stay with you all the time if you are the one driving car around. And of course as a best practice, use request sensors (7OO has it only on driver door as opposed to XUV5OO on both front doors) instead of keyfob buttons to avoid any frequency scanners etc. Not an easy hack but still, why take chances!

Another Saturday lake hopping:
And all of this, we were doing it while driving around outskirts of the south bangalore. Bunch of opportunities to click birds, gorgeous sunrise and of course the Red Sparkle!

Here are some pictures:

Yes, they are silent. Closer to Michelin experience I had on my old 5OO. They are grippy. The only issue in my experience is the softer/ grippier tires aren’t holding good for gravel/ bad roads. One tire from the conti set already got the puncture closer to the sidewall due to small stone cut. Otherwise they are good. After this set ears out, I am going to stick to Yoko V rated ones or Bridgstone Ecopia V rated ones Or if I get a real A/T inspiring more bad road drives.

Definitely! The Ibrahim Rouza was the underrated/ uncrowded place compared to other monuments. This would be a fantastic place for a good photo shoot too. My plan is to go back there during peak monsoon of 2023.

.
Which ones are these? On my XUV500 I got CCLX2 and those have taken abuse well. AT tires certainly are better options if you want to do bad roads.

1300Kms on weekend

There is never a dull day in life of Mahindra vehicle owners! And I mean it

Here are some updates:

ICE/ Silverbox Updated to latest firmware: Last week I was checking if there is an update on the ICE software that can help keep the iOS connections more stable. Learnt that there is one - it’s not informed to everyone to start applying. The CoTeks are taking the call based on owner’s need. If you complain of screen blanking etc, this may be the latest update worth applying. I got it done before I went on the weekend trip to home town. The version I am running now is below:

Reincarnating Orange Cheetah | TheRedSparkle Mahindra XUV700 AX7L AWD | 60,000 km up-0cc35a4c29d44e9f91f28f691dc2e335.jpeg

It seems to be much better than older one - zero screen blanking issues so far. The CarPlay disconnected at least 3-4 times in that 1300 kms drive over weekend.

1300Kms to home town and back!
We had an urgent visit to be made to our home town. We decided to go to MH on Saturday and return on Sunday. Something we had not done anytime before on any cars I owned. This was back to back long day drives - it was fun and least tiring to say the least. The only issue that occurred was - I started getting the “Front Brakepad worn out” message when I had left the NH48 onto the MH local roads. No MASS/ ASC in the vicinity, it was a nervous drive for the last 70Kms to home. I tried reaching out to RSA, Local service stations. The closest ASC was either Kolhapur or Sangli. Knowing the brake pad life is at the dead end based on the warnings, I had to crawl through either of the district cities with least brake usage! The ASC in Kolhapur was not at all helping - they were not at all thinking straight. They needed me to drop the car on Saturday and return on Sunday afternoon!

On the other hand, the ASC in Sangli Sahyadri Motors, were super accommodative. The lady on the reception desk connected me with their service manager - Rohit. He assured me that the brake pads are in stock, I can drop in anytime upto 5pm and he will ensure that car will be attended, returned in less than hour! And all of this without using any connects, links or influence of any kind! I must say that this ASC is far better in attending its customers than some of the best in our metros.

Reincarnating Orange Cheetah | TheRedSparkle Mahindra XUV700 AX7L AWD | 60,000 km up-dca18003f6ac4e91bed08bc03d5f547d.jpeg

After driving carefully with least brake usage, I dropped family at home, drove to ASC and they attended the car in less than 5 mins of entering their premise. To my credit, I reached there by 4pm itself allowing them good 2 hours to do the work instead of 5 as cut-off. The ASC investigated the issue and found that brake pads are absolutely fine! A good life left in them! The issue they identified though was something scary - the ABS wiring exactly at the place where it joins the coupler had got cut due to heat or something like that. Since the cut wire was touching the metal mounting base intermittently, it was triggering the brake pad worn out warning! The ASC said that this cannot be fixed by taping it - we need to replace the entire wiring harness related to this part and it will take 1-2 days for sure. Moreover this part isn’t in stock and need to order. Left with no option, i decided to give it a shot - called upon the Service Manager. I and him brainstormed how this can be fixed. A solid wire connected through the soldering would hold it good for sure. Decoupling the wire is not an option - ABS, ESP and what not can go bonkers for the return drive of 650kms! To my pleasant surprise, they did. Fantastic job - see it for yourself in the pictures below. This is better than original wiring itself!

With just Rs. 413 bill, they ensure car was doing fine and I am out of there by 5 pm itself. Flat 1 hour, great treatment. I am thoroughly impressed with this staff and ASC! The car is doing perfectly fine!

This is the ASC I visited - MAHINDRA Sahyadri Motors https://maps.app.goo.gl/sDhQSyStWLBnMvySA?g_st=ic

This is a perfect 10/10 rating experience!

On our way back to BLR, we took stop at kolhapur, great darshan at Ambabai Temple, Fadtare Misal breakfast, picking up Mishra Pedha at Dhawad and back in BLR by 7pm. It was just like the clockwork - everything worked nicely.

The car is doing fine and I will attend to the wiring harness either before the next long trip or on my next visit to ASC. And thus the exploration and drives continue!

Stay tuned for more updates.

Its strange! I also faced the same issue and I was told that rat would have bitten off the wire even though I was sure there are no rats in my society. They did the patch work and I haven't had any error since then. I guess this is also one of the issues with XUV 700 such as football in the trunk, car pulling to left side and front suspension sound. I hope Mahindra has permanent fix for these issues. Please keep us updated on the issue as I am sure that Mahindra showroom(s) at Nagpur are clueless about all these issues and solutions.

Interesting as always @abirnale as usual with the fantastic pictures. And congratulations to RED SABERTOOTH for completing the majestic 30k.
Between, I saw a thread you posted that you had scratched the door panels with a pole. How did you manage to get the scratches off?
Do post about it too.

Hey, thanks! Nope - I am wearing them with pride as Battle Scars! In about another 2-3 weeks we compete a year of ownership. That may be a good time to do some much needed TLC for the car - interior, exterior and some paint correction. The scratches are not deep - the usual buffing/ polishing should correct it to the large extent. Slight leftover is ok to be there. maybe I will consider the ceramic coat - in double mind if its worth at this stage - I mean painting entire car wont cost more than 50K, so why bother!

I love these Dharwad Pedhas. For those who travel on Mumbai-BLR highway, this factory outlet of TRU Mishra Pedha is located just 6 KMS after exiting Hubli bypass (Narendra toll plaza) towards Mumbai. The factory is located behind the outlet at 1 Km distance.

I prefer this outlet than any other pedha shops in Dharwad/Hubli as freshness is guaranteed. Also the pedhas are less salty (personal opinion) compared to others (more popular pedha houses). Hope I have not ignited a pedha debate here!

That is scary indeed! I am glad the soldering bit worked out temporarily. I for one would've been terribly disturbed the entire drive back home if something like this happened, unnecessary OCD troubles.

Just to check, did they do the soldering bit once you suggested it or were you the one to do it yourself within the workshop using their tools?

Is there any improvement in the performance of CarPlay? Does the music still lag sometimes in this latest build? Would you recommend this update to someone who doesn't face blank screen issue?

Thanks, @abirnale. I still feel we could go with a full car repainting instead of spending hefty money for the PPF or Ceramic Coatings. The only place to me that requires attention is the piano black surfaces - The window Panel, Mirrors, Interior Door Handle, and the Center Console. I am also planning to do a wax polish (DIY) every 6months after nice shower.

Between, I have just posted my initial ownership review here - https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offic...ml#post5479416 (Mahindra XUV700 Review)

Kindly do check it out and share your views.
