Sir, my father is from Bhilai - very similar road and driving conditions with Bokaro, from where you are. We own 22 model 7L AT AWD. One of his colleague who owned a D AT AX7 had a very similar issue of regen at every 200-250 KM interval. In his complain he cited my fathers case and demanded a full money-back from M&M.

M&M plant people sought permission from my father to access the ECU and later on the uncle told my father that M&M made a visual graphic presentation on various parameters of both the cars and explained to him why the same engine behaves differently with different users.

My father is presently in Chandrapur, where the distance between his residence and office is only 5KM. He uses the 700 as his daily drive and (touchwood) he has not faced this issue ever and the car is approaching 50K KM now.

I may be wrong in my opinion, but I had suggested based on what I have heard.

To clear the DPF, the burning of soot would be required in the filter itself, implementation of the same can be done by spraying diesel downstream of the cylinder, beyond the EGR Valve before exhaust gases reach the DPF chamber. Some demonstrations list an additional injector short of the DPF chamber for this purpose.
If implemented right - The extra diesel injection to cylinders to burn soot in DPF happens in the post combustion stage and not in pre or main stages and should not have the issues mentioned. This extra fuel burns in diesel oxidation chamber and helps in raising the temperature to burn the accumulated soot. This is a very common cost effective implementation across passenger vehicles, an additional injector adds to cost and complexity which maybe an overkill for this segment and use case.

So that means Mahindra didn’t do anything to your uncle’s car and just explained to him that the car is behaving normally, correct?

Re: The Flights of Icarus | Our Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Diesel MT

3 Years And ~11,000 KMs Update:-

Icarus turned 3 on 25th April, 2025. A big achievement in itself because after a long time, a car has stayed with me for this long!

Be as it may, with my extremely limited running, threatening diesel PV rules looming around and tons of Regen exercises notwithstanding, I have simply come to appreciate the presence of the big M in my life. Software gremlins aside, Icarus has given me no cause for complaints so far. Regens are wholly my fault because of my 100% in-city running for the past 4.5-odd months due to a variety of reasons. Except for that, the XUV700 hits it out of the park in every other aspect - road presence, in-cabin space, engine response, comfort & gizmos - specially in the pricing segment it is in. Every other option available today is a downgrade to the C-segment, and none of them appeal to me.

Maybe a stricter law/rule of the land when passed for big, burly diesel PVs will make me go back to the new car ownership drawing board yet again but for now, I am extremely happy with my steed and what it provides to me and my family on a daily basis.

The latest.

It was time for insurance renewal. Ditched the original 1+3 TATA AIG package bought at the time of delivery and went with Chola MS this time for 2 reasons - local A.S.C. service has it readily available (other is Iffco Tokio) and the head of the local Chola branch is a good friend of mine. Negotiated on both sides and finalised:-

IDV = 13,00,000
Basic = 10,865
Addons = 7,900 (Zero Dep, RTI, Consumables, Chola Value Added Services, New Vehicle Replacement Cover)
3rd Party = 9,422
NCB @ 35% = (-) 3,803
Total = 24,384
GST = (+) 4,390
Grand Total = 28,774

4th Paid Service @ 10,835 kms:-

I am busy with comprehensive renovation work of my house, so sent Icarus via pickup-and-drop service on 19th April 2025. Listed these jobs to be done:-

1) Software to be updated to the latest stable version (on 10.27.62 right now)
2) AC & Air filters to be changed
3) Wipers to be changed
4) Paint touchup on small paint chips on driver door & front passenger side front wheel panel (just behind left headlamp)
5) Battery check, brakes check, underbody check.
6) Exterior washing only.
7) Paid service work - engine oil & oil filter change.
8) No additional work.

Icarus came back in the evening at around 7 PM with most of the jobs completed. Software flashing couldn't be done due to some issues with downloading the latest version. The paint touchup job was also left pending.

Final paid service bill came to 9,229.90. Paid online.

I was busy with renovation work for the next two days. Last Tuesday, I jumped into my 7OO to leave for office and noticed this:-

The central-left AC vent's adjuster was broken!

A bit of a shocker, because this was my SUV's first casualty. I immediately rang up the dealership and reported this (with pics) to the Service Manager, the CoTek & the Advisor handling my car. They were apologetic and assured me of ordering the part (the whole panel) and replacing the same as soon as possible. As of today, the order has been placed.

I have also noticed that the nitrogen in the left rear tyre (driver side rear) has been steadily decreasing. Today morning, it had dropped to 22PSI! A check at the nearest puncture shop confirmed this. Only one shop in my city repairs punctured tyres equipped with TPMS sensors and I am visiting them tomorrow.

Icarus is nearing the 11,000 kms mark now.

Consider this - fellow BHPian abirnale has crossed 1,00,000 kms on the ODO of his Red Sparkle in a little more ownership time than my XUV. Compared to that - in gross terms of years, weeks & days of ownership and in proportion to Icarus's total running, my XUV7OO is still a baby!

Ciao for now.

I will also be completing 3 years on XUV700 Diesel AT in June 2025.
Around 29,000 KMs done so far and not a single manual Regen required till date!
I am driving mostly in city with occasional long highway trips, and I believe Automatic transmission takes care of Regen process on its own.
