Congratulations on your new ride! I personally feel that more than off-roading, the Jimny is the perfect car for larger Indian cities. It has great GC, a relatively compact size and a nice suspension setup that should make driving an ease. I have always been a strong advocate for sedans for the current road conditions have me looking for a compact no nonsense SUV and the Jimny is on my Radar too. The only negative with the Jimny is the fact that the engine definitely seems to be underpowered, I am hoping that a nice tune should be able to solve this.
Eitherways, I think in terms of reliability the Jimny should be right up there with your Altis, a very fun upgrade if you ask me! Wishing you all the happiness and luck in your new ride! |
Thank you for your wishes! I agree. There's nothing like the Jimny on the road for sure. It's been two days and I've crossed 300 kms and I just feel home in the Jimny. Yes, I do miss the 1.8 of the Altis but Jimny is a vehicle of an altogether different character. I naturally feel like driving more steady and calm and the engine does the work just like that I think. Will cross more kilometers and try to share a review then :)

Thank you for everyone who has helped and guided me with this ownership phase. Special thanks again to @vigsom for mentoring me throughout this phase. Guess what, it was @vigsom himself who first softly mentioned Jimny once during a call and now I own a Jimny! Soon, I look forward to him telling me 'LC 200' or a '911' and I'll look forward to it manifesting :Cheering: |
I know how it feels to let go of of old school, thorough bred cars like Altis. These were built to last. I had a hard time letting go of my first gen Figo. Even now, ever 'S' curve or sharp 'U' turns I take, I miss my Figo badly. It was a little gem.
Well, Congratulations on your Jimny. I hope Vigsom had the influence of Jimny after driving my Jimny once in Bangalore and influenced you. Except for below par FE by Jimny for Maruti standards ( simply can't wrap my head around such a small car, giving such low milage even with small 1.5 ltr engine), Jimny is a wonderful SUV. You will have so much fun taking it places or shall I say ' it will take you places' ha ha.
Let me know if you need inputs/contacts for accessorising your Jimny. I know couple of good places to get accessories for better price. Unfortunately, I found it after I purchased most of the stuff.
cheers

I should thank you first for getting @vigsom to check your car first I guess :D
And yes, it is very sad to let go off mechanically wonderful cars! Every single test-drive I took of new cars felt more like me driving a gadget and Jimny was the best bet on a mechanically solid and sound car that also seemed reliable. I look forward to starting a Jimny ownership thread soon and I have a lot of happy emotions to share for sure. Regarding FE, coming from the Altis, I should say I'm super happy to see two digits on the console rl:
Regarding accessories, for sure will do! I have a small itch to change the grille to the retro one like you've done too. Will ping you for sure when I plan on doing that. Thank you so much and look forward to meeting you (ofcourse along with your Jimny) sometime soon.
Nice to see a Corolla thread. I own a 2010 Altis, clocked less than 30k kms. Maintenance has mostly been oil changes. Post Covid that's being taken care of by my FNG that's been servicing our cars since good old fiat days.
Which retro grille do you refer to?

We have a 2011 Corolla Altis which clocked 1.8 lakh km and is going strong.
The only problem was with the AC, which was replaced but works sometimes. Any suggestions from fellow owners of the 2010-2014 model Corolla Altis ?

Well mine's very young with around 30k kms clocked in all these years!! So besides the usual running repairs never faced any other problems.😂
Yours could be an issue with the fitment or with the replaced component. What has the service centre suggested?
