Hey speedmiester,
Love your thread! Thanks for regular updates, please keep it up

What tyre pressure do you maintain normally? The demo ZS EV that I drove yesterday had over 40PSI in each tyre. Is that normal/recommended?

Thanks.
I maintain 38PSI in all tyres. Recommended is 41PSI.

Even at 40PSI, I don't find the ride uncomfortable.

Have you noticed a significant difference between the pressure at 38 vs 41?

Not really, hence I am not bothered. Currently the pressure have come down to 37PSI, I am using it at this pressure till I get the TPMS warning.

Re: Transition to Volthead | Ownership Review of LightFury | My White MG ZS EV Exclusive

10K milestone

Lightfury crossed the 10000Kms milestone yesterday during yet another drive from Mysore. 10K number came up in 3.5 months. I am yet to install the 7.2 KW charger provided by MG, that needs to be completed in the coming month.

Due to few personal incidents, most of the travel has been restricted to Bangalore-Mysore. This included a back and forth drive twice in a day.
No issues to report, except for the tiny noise from the Steering. This will be looked at during the 10K service.

I will pen a detailed post after the service.

So cool. Congratulations on the 10K mark.
I just clocked 2775. I have not installed the 7.2K charger either. Don't intend to in the near future either.
The portable charger works for me now.

Not sure if this is a mere coincidence or something wrong with ZS EV's TPMS. My car too was consistently showing lower pressure on rear left tyre than others and during servicing MG said there was a slow puncture which they fixed. But even after that till date the tyre shows less pressure than other three. And if it's a slow puncture, it should have gone down further after a month but it hasn't. Other tyres show around 40 PSI but rear left consistently shows around 36.

None of my tires ever show 40 psi. Even if i top it up to 42 psi the tpms on the mid shows it at a max of 38psi.
i have not noticed what you have seen with your rear left tyre.

Oh. That's strange. Maybe you should get it checked during next visit to service center.

Re: Transition to Volthead | Ownership Review of LightFury | My White MG ZS EV Exclusive

10K kms and 3rd service update:

Lightfury availed the third free service at 10K kms today. Only replacement in this service is AC filter. Apart from this got the Wheel Alignment, Balancing and rotation done. Since I have taken AMC, I didn’t have to pay anything for the service. So far the service experience is as per expectations.

Verdict after 10K kms:

I am happy to report that the faith I had in EVs is vindicated. Never in the past 3.5 months have I regretted buying an EV. Close to 85% of my drives are on highways and around 7K of these Kms are between Bangalore and Mysore. The past two months have been quite crazy with more than usual amount of drives. Though largely on familiar routes, there were instances where I had to drive long distances unplanned.

The fast-growing charging infrastructure helped a lot. I keep track of fast chargers on my primary routes and have memorized the location, availability, and reliability of most of them. This reduces range anxiety by a large margin.

Positives:
  • Quiet and stress-free driving experience
  • No compromise on safety features
  • Power available with a slight dab of throttle, overtaking on undivided roads are a breeze and quite fun on the highways.
  • Negligible running and maintenance cost.
  • Can drive 400Kms+ on highways at avg speeds of 55-60Kms

Negatives:
  • Soft suspension takes some edge off the fun at higher speeds.
  • Still haven’t been to find the perfect seating position, my earlier Ecosport was bang on in terms of seating comfort.
  • Have scrapped a couple of times on large speed breakers.
  • Illumination from the headlamps.

Few Stats from the initial ownership:

Had the same concern. Got the new LEDs from MG for about 4k per pair and they seem to do the job very well. Came with one year warranty too. Getting them onto the car was like a 5-min job for the service guys. All official.
