didn't you guys think it was a lil underpowered!? haven't driven its competiton, so dont know..another thing, the interiors(dash console, steering) look a lot like the sx4.. and that's hmmm.....just wrong IMHO!!!

Frankly, I am getting a little bored with the "standard" Suzuki interiors (except for a few minor changes here & there) ... there seems to be too much of re-use ... esp. between the sx4 and the gv ...

if i'm gonna shell out 16L for a city-slick SUV, I'd expect some bit of exclusivity. Something that Honda seems to be quite consistent in (at least so far) - the interiors of their entire line-up (NHC, Civic, Accord, CRV) are all unique and refreshing!

I had seen a new GV at the CARS India MUL dealership. And man, from the rear (could not see the front) it did look puny for an SUV. Was silver in color and did not frankly interest me.

Now if this was on offer as a Suzuki SUV, I would think quite some people would be interested. Loved its butch looks. The name read as Escuda or something - could not see the rear properly as it was parked too close to the fence.

Thats the Grand vitara. Its Escudo in some markets.

Wonder how the same car looked puny and butch at the same time.

Maybe because I only saw the rear of the GV and only the front of the Escudo. The rear looked puny, the front looks butch. And maybe the color could also have something to do with size or actually how we perceive size. The GV was silver, the Escudo is black. Black usually looks butch IMO.

Thats the Ulta-way of doing things.

This can only sell in large numbers AFTER MUL achieves a high degree of localization and brings down the cost to decent levels.

Imagine the #s GV can achieve if priced in sub-12l range.

Yup, same looks. The running rail in the pic you posted gives it a meaty, more butch sort of a look. The Indian version doesn't have this as standard. I think the front bumper is also a little different (maybe), but otherwise, it's the same.

Hear that Maruti is coming with a 2.4 ltr 169 bhp 225 nm grand vitara in 2009.. anyone driven it yet.. it has replaced the 2.0 ltr GV in worldwide market.. 166 bhp should make it a hoot to drive...

So there are also on same path as Honda (as in case of CRV) to increase the price of GV and move it out of this segment :(
