Maruti SX4 -Red color variations

According to the brochure and the website and even the dealer Maruti has only one red color for the sx4,called metallic supreme red[the one seen on the demo cars],Posting 1000w's car here [sorry for not taking your permission],demo car pics taken by BUSA

Now there is another red colour I see on the sx4 as seen in this picture from overdrive

Any ideas guys how this variation is possible,my preference is the first coloured car.

The second car does not look like the copper sunlight colour.

Hmmm, seems the lighting and editing may have played a big part here. May be, Rudraji or Samurai can point out.

But, one question, If your prefernece is the first colour, how come the second one was your display pic for many days? (just kidding)

Initially I did think it was something to do with photography but now that I have seen it in person I am more or less convinced that there are some variations.

The first red is more or less like the red you see in the New wagon-r,while the second is like the red found on the swift.

PS: There is extreme shortage of the supreme red colour, could the car have been touched up at the dealers end.

Its just photography (light/camera resolution etc) that makes feel different shades/variations in color, all Red SX4 are same I am sure because this is the case with every other cars from different manufactures. In photos they look different but in reality all red cars are same.

Regards,

Ravi.

Ya it is right. The colours cannot be different when it passes into the PT/ED oven in paint booth. The colours will be premixed. These will be computerised and nobody can add or take out the colours from booth neither can anybody tamper with it. The same colours will look different in sun light and when it is seen inside.....

Yes, you cant really judge unless you have both the "variants" in front of you !! Light does play tricks in photography

Infractions: 0/1 (10)

the od pic would have surely been played around with to increase the resolution, brightness etc.also the od team would have used a high quality camera.dont know about the camera that busa used.
so difference in camera quality, lighting conditions would have surely played a part in rendering the variations in colour.

Well that is not true that there are variations in the color, the sx4 come in the colors supreme red and sunlight copper and other colors also, but as noticed by many the sx4, the sunlight copper shade from a distance or lighting variations when seen looks like red, the first pic is of the sx4 in sunlight copper and all the demo cars come only in supreme red. The last pic is an sx4 in supreme red but its been edited to look like it has a high gloss finish.

Memo should know since he owns a sunglight copper sx4. Its a tricky colour really. Can appear very dark and reddish at times. Under sunlight it appears a little lighter.

Different colours?

May sound stupid, but isnt it possible that the maruti guys had delebrately painted the demo car with a slightly different color, maybe a less glossy one due to its intended rough use?? Or maybe due to better contrast with all the demo sitckers on the car..

Nope. If anything they would paint it more glossy to entice customers
Its possible what you said that the bright yellow maruti TD stickers give the contrast.
