Could you please share SA's details. I want to make my booking with Galaxy Moti Nagar and this guy seems patient and sensible.

Also I recently went to Uttam Toyota Ghaziabad and was informed by the SA that annual fitness needs to be done for 8 seater in UP. Is it the same in Delhi too ?

SA details shared via Personal Message.

Regarding Annual Fitness, I did not get any details related to it while vehicle delivery. I did ask about this, but i was told no such requirement.

However, if there is a way to check it, do let me know. I will check and confirm back.

Re: From dreaming to driving | Toyota Innova Hycross 2.0 Hybrid VX (O) 8S AT Review

FIRST BRUISES

On Nov 26th (Sunday), I found myself as a less-than-stellar driver, culminating in an accident that left my heart shattered. The mishap resulted in damage to the driver-side ORVM and cast a shadow over my day with a swan-like face of remorse.

From dreaming to driving | Toyota Innova Hycross 2.0 Hybrid VX (O) 8S AT Review-1-copy.jpg

My children’s attend Table Tennis class on weekends, and since it's conveniently close, I usually opt for a two-wheeler. However, with the onset of winter in the northern part of the country, the cold led me to choose the warmth of the Hycross.

I was navigating within the confines of the society compound, driving cautiously and well within the speed limit. Just as I was about to exit, approximately 100 meters before, an MG Hector was parked parallel to another car, leaving barely enough space for one car to pass through comfortably.

In hindsight, I should have slowed down even more, but I attempted to maneuver through, hoping I could make it. Then came the unmistakable sound – – the first blemish on my Hycross after precisely 164 days.

I promptly halted the car to assess the damage. My heart sank as I discovered the shattered LED cover on the ORVM. Upon inspecting the Hector, I found some scratches on its side mirror that could be rubbed off. I immediately apologized, but to my surprise, they admitted it was also their mistake for parking the Hector in a no-parking zone, and the matter was settled amicably.

Returning home, the reality of the damaged ORVM refused to sink in. I reached out to the service advisor, yet received no clear response on whether only the LED cover could be replaced or if the entire ORVM needed replacement. (Suggestions welcome)

Despite the drama, the ORVM and all its functions are working fine.
I'm torn between repairing it, leaving it as is, or making an insurance claim. As a gesture of compensation, I've decided to get a professional wash done (may be detailing) coming weekend, as I think I tend to drive car more carefully if its spotless than dirty one.

(Updated in 'Accidents in India' threads as well)

Re: From dreaming to driving | Toyota Innova Hycross 2.0 Hybrid VX (O) 8S AT Review

KMS 8700

Alright, the saga continues. Just a week before my planned trip to Manali, started noticing loud noise in the cabin while fan at high speed. At low fan speed, there was no such noise.

Worried about potential issues, I promptly took my Hycross to the service center.

Unfortunately, my fears were justified – it turned out to be a rat's playground. They managed to tear the AC filter into two parts, split the Plastic Mesh Jali in half, and clog the AC compressor. Fortunately, there was no wire cut. According to Galaxy Toyota, the recommended actions are -
  1. Replace the AC filter.
  2. Replace the Plastic Jali with a Steel Jali to prevent future damage.
  3. Apply rat repellent spray in the engine compartment.
The estimated expense is around 15k. If I opt out of installing the Steel Jali, the cost would be approximately 6k. (15k includes labor charge of 7k just for installing Steel Jali). I've requested a discount and will share the final amount later.

I've given them the green light for the installation of the steel mesh Jali, and the car is expected to be back in 2-3 days. It's disheartening, but essential maintenance is a priority.

Just last week, the ORVM indicator got damaged, so I'll be replacing that as well. Though 2nd service is due in another 1500 KMS, it will be addressed post the Manali excursion.

Stay tuned for the next update with the final bill amount once the car returns.

Congratulations on finally getting what you wanted. Though in the entire journey it could have been something very different. Perseverance paid at the end.

Just one question, you were getting the Blue hycross in March within a few days. But after price increased and you choose to go for white, the waiting period was suddenly 8-9 months. All these for colour?

Current ODO : 12,332

Apologies for the lack of updates on this thread; a combination of an injury sustained in an accident and subsequent work / personal commitments caused the delay. I'll be sharing frequent & necessary details in upcoming posts.

Returning to car, Hycross has been performing as expected, with no notable issues to report. Thankfully, I haven't encountered issues with CarPlay disconnects or inaccurate fuel gauge readings, despite daily parking on inclines.

Though this car will never win a beauty competition, i still cannot help clicking pics

I've been thoroughly satisfied with my Hycross and have been recommending it to anyone in need of a comfortable 7- or 8-seater vehicle, surpassing options like the XUV700 or Safari. While it lacks the diesel engine found in the Crysta model, it remains a highly competent vehicle, delivering a fun driving experience with excellent mileage.

Note: The Hycross cannot be compared to the 2.8D Auto Crysta; it belongs to a different category altogether, though it does surpasses the 2.4 Crysta. If I were to choose one aspect, I prefer about the Crysta over the Hycross, it would be the engine clatter. I love how Crysta sound . Until the Hycross is pushed, it remains nearly silent.

Regarding interiors, I find the layout of the Hycross superior, while the Crysta boasts better materials. Period.

10k Service at 8696 KMS

Before my annual winter trip to the mountains with friends, I decided to proceed with the 10k service. Despite being offered various additional services like engine decarbonization, wheel alignment etc, I opted to adhere strictly to the details outlined in the Owner’s Manual. I informed the service advisor that the vehicle would only undergo services mentioned in the manual, nothing beyond.

The 10k service entailed an engine oil change, oil filter replacement, gasket replacement, and windshield washer fluid top-up, amounting to 3297/-.

Out of the total, 2714/- went towards the engine oil, with the remainder covering miscellaneous expenses. Since it was the second free service, no labor charges were applicable.

ORVM Indicator Replacement

During the 10k service, I inquired about the total repair cost for the ORVM indicator, whether only the child part would suffice or if the entire unit needed replacement. Despite forum members suggesting that only the child part required replacement, I poked service agent.

After consulting with the body shop, it was confirmed that only the indicator needed replacement, costing me 3403/-

Manali Trip

In December 2023, embarked on a trip from Delhi -> Manali -> Baralacha La Pass (-5 kms) -> Tandi -> Udaipur, and back to Delhi, covering approximately 1400kms.

Near Naggar Castle
From dreaming to driving | Toyota Innova Hycross 2.0 Hybrid VX (O) 8S AT Review-2.jpg

During this trip, encountered two issues –

1. Audio Sound: While I'm not an audiophile, I believe Toyota could have provided better speakers in a car priced at 30 lac +. Though I rarely listen to music during my daily drives, the speakers require replacement.

2. Engine Sound: Taking the Hycross to Baralacha La Pass posed no trouble at all. Despite minimal snow in December, I did not encounter any issues, even in Normal mode. Ninety percent of the trip was completed in Normal mode, with occasional use of Power Mode for fun. However, the engine occasionally became very loud, causing slight discomfort. This could be attributed to becoming accustomed to a silent drive, and I may consider damping to reduce engine noise if it proves effective.

That's all for now, but I have another 1500 KMS trip planned from Delhi to Ayodhya to Lucknow and back to Delhi, starting on April 6th.

Since this will be my first visit to Ayodhya & Lucknow, any recommendations and tips are welcome.

I made the VX to VXO update. Here is the full sequence:
  1. Ageha was replaced with Pearl White.
  2. From VX to VXO Pearl White

Although the VXO variant was introduced on March 1st, we upgraded to the VXO, which was ultimately delivered on June 15th, even though the VX Ageha was ready on February 27th.

Re: From dreaming to driving | Toyota Innova Hycross 2.0 Hybrid VX (O) 8S AT Review

One-Year Reflection

After 365 days and 17,160 kilometers with my Hycross, excited to share my experience. Hycross has become integral part of daily drive (Yes, self-drive Innova) and I have come to appreciate its strengths and quirks.

Performance and Handling – Though it’s a big car and for 8-seater, Hycross is very easy to drive, provides great handing, good performance, providing a smooth and responsive driving experience. The engine offers ample power for city driving and highway cruising, making overtaking effortless. The handling is precise, with the steering feeling well-weighted and communicative.

Fuel Efficiency - One of the standout features is its impressive fuel efficiency. Over the past year, I have averaged around 17+ KMPL in combined city and highway driving and it has not only reduced my fuel expenses but also made long trips more economical.

Comfort and Interior - Though not opulent, but interior is both comfortable and stylish. Seats provide excellent support, even on longer journeys, and the cabin is spacious enough to accommodate 7 adults (yes, 2 adults even on 3rd row).

Materials used in the interior could have been premium given the price point, build quality is top-notch, thanks to Wireless Apple Car play, infotainment system is user-friendly, with a responsive touchscreen and intuitive controls, however, leaves a lot to be desired in-terms of Audio quality.

Reliability and Maintenance - In terms of reliability, car has been flawless. Over the past year, I have not encountered any major issues. Regular maintenance has been straightforward, with the car requiring only routine servicing. The cost of maintenance has been reasonable, and I appreciate the availability of service centers and parts. In one year, have visited following –
  1. Khatu Ji, Rajasthan (Thrice at least)
  2. Vrindavan (Twice maybe)
  3. Shimla
  4. Baralachla, Sissu & Manali
  5. Ayodhya & Lucknow
  6. Haridwar, Rishikesh & Kotdwar
  7. Panipat & surrounding areas multiple times
In one year, car has following service center visits –
  1. First service – 0/-
  2. Air filter replacement, was damaged by Rat – 12,500/-
  3. Drive Side ORVM Indicator – 3403/-
  4. Second service – 3296/-
Accessories added –
  1. Dashcam : 70mai M300 Dashcam
  2. Garware Ice Cool Shield window film all around
  3. Frameless Wiper Blades
  4. Car Backseat hooks

From dreaming to driving | Toyota Innova Hycross 2.0 Hybrid VX (O) 8S AT Review-2.jpg
Clicked, post installing Garware Ice Cool Shield film

Insurance has also been renewed from Galaxy Toyota, for Rs. 29k, covers RTI, Rat damage, Engine Cover etc. etc.

Practicality and Storage wise Hycross offers ample storage space, with a generous trunk capacity that easily accommodates my family's needs. The rear seats can be folded down to increase cargo space, making it versatile for various types of luggage and equipment. Additionally, the numerous storage compartments within the cabin are handy for keeping smaller items organized.

To sum it up, reflecting on a year with Hycross, I can confidently say it has been a rewarding ownership experience. Its blend of performance, comfort, efficiency, and safety makes it a well-rounded vehicle suitable for a variety of needs. Whether you’re commuting to work, embarking on a road trip, or running errands, it delivers a reliable and enjoyable driving experience.

And yes, I do look back every time when I park it

Happy one year to your HyCross, it’s good to know that you’re enjoying your car.

I also acquired a HyCross recently, could you please tell me which brand of frameless wipers did you purchase, from where and how much did they cost you ?

Late into the party, hearty congratulations. Looks like you are enjoying the Hycross big time. 18k in a year is some serious mile crunching my petrol vehicle standards. Currently I am in the same Dilemma, to consider the Crysta or the Hycross. While my heart says to go for the Crysta, the mind says go for the Hycross. If the Crysta still had the AT, i guess i would have had the answer by now.

In my opinion, mileage of 18.5 KMPL is quite impressive for a vehicle of this size. This exceptional fuel efficiency is indeed a USP, complementing Toyota's renowned reliability.

During winter season, I've witnessed mileage exceeding 20 KMPL.

However, in summer months when AC is running at full capacity, the mileage for my Hycross has slightly decreased to approximately 16 KMPL.

Thank you CEF_Beasts & Congratulations to you as well. I indeed follow your posts on Hycross Official review page.

Purchased from Amazon for Rs. 598/- for a set of Autoclean Frameless / Soft Wiper Blade For Innova (24+16) (Incl. complimentary Windshield Washer Tablet). Acquired in March 2024, these wiper blades have been performing well so far, but actual usage will happen in upcoming rainy season.

Thank you Rakesh Ji.

I find Crysta Diesel AT outshines Hycross unquestionably (No offense intended).

Toyota must have recognized this, which is why they discontinued offering Diesel AT.

Combination of hydraulic steering with a manual gearbox proves to be a laborious task, especially when contrasted with the effortless driving experience in Hycross, not to mention the impractical 10-year Diesel rule.

Considering all these factors, my preference swayed towards Hycross.

I hope this helps you in making your decision.

Hey good to hear Toyota's reliability is still strong even after the wedding with Maruti.

12.5k involved installing a steel mesh for which labour was exorbitant. Given it was a new car when it happened, i did not delve much into it, however even i feel it was too much & there was some foul play involved.

If required, i can attach the invoice.

Re: From dreaming to driving | Toyota Innova Hycross 2.0 Hybrid VX (O) 8S AT Review

Update # 6
Days Owned: 460
KMS Driven: 20,627
Maintenance Expenses: 26,269/- (Excl. Fuel & Insurance)

To start with, just completed 3rd Service (Free Labour) at 20K Kms, setting my wallet back by 7070/-. I've made my case to follow maintenance schedule provided by Toyota & only items mentioned to be covered, along with Wheel Balancing, Tyre Rotation & Wheel alignment.

I also have Anti Rust & Teflon package, wherein every 6 months same is inspected. I know Teflon is all rubbish & they just wash, wax & rub, however, was forced to take this packing during delivery. So now that I have it, I ensure every 6 months car is sent for Anti Rust & Teflon check-up. Rest all, it’s been smooth sail for Hycross, effortlessly munching kilometers without issues.

Not much to report aside from the addition of some new alloys

From dreaming to driving | Toyota Innova Hycross 2.0 Hybrid VX (O) 8S AT Review-2.jpg

From dreaming to driving | Toyota Innova Hycross 2.0 Hybrid VX (O) 8S AT Review-picture1.jpg

Replaced my OEM VX Alloys with OEM ZX Alloys and fitted new JK UX Royale 18-inch tires.

While I haven’t noticed a significant change in ride quality, I personally think the ZX alloys look more appealing, chromy, though ZX alloys are a bit of a hassle to keep clean vs VX alloys.

And, there’s a 1-foot-long scratch on my front passenger side bumper, I think done on purpose & is very disheartening, but will have to live with it.

From dreaming to driving | Toyota Innova Hycross 2.0 Hybrid VX (O) 8S AT Review-1.jpg

This scratch has opened the debate between Ceramic Coating and PPF between me & brother. If Hycross were of a different color, I might have opted for PPF, but since it’s white, yellowish over time is something that keep me away and I'm still unsure. Once a decision is made, will update my thread.
