You're one lucky man for sure. As someone who deeply appreciates stock cars (although I understand that is sort of a predicament for you), the car looks great.

A 12-yr old pre-BS6 V6 will keep you happy and smilling for a long time. With expressways popping up all around NCR, I wish you many more smiles with this rockstar. Do share your wild experiences with the car sometime! Would love to see the beast in action.

It's sad how many more like the Volvo end up abandoned all around NCR because of what I can only call, bureaucratic incompetence. This car can go much more than what the legal limit arrogates it to, but unfortunately that is the law.

I still remember the black 2007 Toyota Camry which lay abandoned near my house for a long time. I kept thinking.. just how much potential we waste in a country of never-ending dreams.

I wish you luck. Hope to relive your fun someday.

Re: Volvo S60 - T6 | The Swedish Mr. Hyde

Woah!! Man you literally are living the dream of all automobile enthusiasts!! I would absolutely jump at any chance to own a V6 or inline 6 of my own and the way you explained the methods of car modding were a treat for my eyes. Also I'm glad that the previous owners actually bothered to maintain this car as opposed to the case where people misuse beauties like these. Time for me to boot up NFS again as a coping mechanism!

Great thread, with amazing details. I just picked up a 6 year old V40 R Design. I'm following this thread to see what progress you make. Do DM me if you are in Bangalore. I can help on the crypto issue.

Nope. The one I saw was a UP Plate.

It's a SI-6 engine and not a V6. Short Inline 6 engine. For "those" 4 cylinder BMW boys you are talking about, the stock car is itself enough

Yes, that's true for MANY good cars of all brands due to the NGT rules, unfortunately!

Congrats on the new ride !! It's doesn't look like a 12 year old car at all. Really well maintained specially given the fact that it has changed 4 owners.

Re: Volvo S60 - T6 | The Swedish Mr. Hyde

I had driven this car when it was launched and was very impressed. A true sleeper even with that T6 badge on. Understated, elegant, classy with oodles of performance and handling to boot.

Very UNVolvo.

Remember taking some very fast turns and the car staying true to its line clawing for grip. Acceleration was everything you wanted and more with brakes that gave you enough confidence.

The interiors were like the regular Volvo with nothing to declare its performance credentials. But who cares when the car delivers all that you need.

The only dampener to an otherwise outstanding experience was the ASC who did not have too much of a clue about what was happening in the car even back then. Do pay close attention to the READ pulley and water pump.

This was Volvo’s last hurrah to performance from a regular sedan and boy, did they really make a statement.

Happy motoring!

Re: Volvo S60 - T6 | The Swedish Mr. Hyde

Congrats khan sultan on your ' new' ride.

Glad to see another decade old Volvo in this forum to keep mine company. Even though the principles of your purchase are a lot different from mine.

Considering your desire to use this as a weekend thrill ride, consider the absence of ADAS a blessing. The safety systems will kick in very frequently if you drive it 'enthusiastically' in traffic. Further more, even a minor issue such as a faulty ABS sensor will throw up all sought of this and that ' safety system not available' alarms till that particular sensor is replaced. Makes me suspect the previous owner put the wrong windscreen on purpose. Also the radar unit on the front grill will be an expensive replace if faulty or damaged.

Although it makes the car look sporty, low ground clearance is an issue with this one. Your 18 inch wheels will give you some respite though (time to get pally with your tyre dealer). If not already done, I would suggest you fit a metal underbody protection plate. You can either place the genuine Volvo one (which I recommend) or get one fabricated.

Since you are keen on tinkering with the car, there are options of replacing the head unit with aftermarket android units or adapters to enhance functionality. I am sure you may have already researched these from the Volvo forums and websites you mentioned in your post. Just putting a few links here for your inspiration.

Will need to source this elsewhere
https://www.amazon.com/2011-2020-And...0CJFFVCJN?th=1

VIDA coding in these cars is challenging even for seasoned Volvo technicians. Kudos to you for achieving what you have till now, even though I know you're just getting warmed up.

This is one car (especially the T6) that is a good buy no matter how old. Unlike these, the next gen T-sixes were supercharged - turbocharged 4 cylinder versions with no AWD. You need to get the full blown Polestar T6 if you want AWD. But that is one impractical car for our roads. With this model, you get the best of both worlds - practicality and thrills when you need it.

This is going to be one fun thread. Keep the posts coming.

Wish you lots of fun with your T6.

Re: Volvo S60 - T6 | The Swedish Mr. Hyde

I love this generation of Volvo S60. It always stood out from the completion of 3 series, A4 and C class. My friend owned an orange one back then and I experienced adaptive cruise control and was amazed to see the car brake behind a truck. The memory is still fresh even after 15 years (I guess).

Good luck with the car and enjoy to the fullest!

Oh yes. Has been given good TLC but at same time as with any 12+ years old car, there would be bits that would not be in pristine condition -- for example lights, alloys, few beadings, hoses, rubber parts etc. For example, here are some pictures that show the before after and work being done.

The lights were hazed out and needed cleaning.

Thanks! Agree on all counts and that especially that ASC are clueless and Volvo last hurrah to performance from a regular sedan. Thanks for the heads-up on the READ!

Thanks, buddy! Your long-term Volvo ownership thread and other Volvo T6 threads/reviews have been read multiple times over by me and helped a lot in decision making. Wish you many more years/miles with your Orange beauty!

As you said, for the T6 model, this is the best combo to be had. 3.0 / 6 Cylinder / AWD. Too bad that the later ones went FWD & 2L way.

Of all things missing with ADAS, the Adaptive Cruise is what I miss and will try and fix that. I like using cruise a lot on lazy drives on highways and unfortunately regular Cruise Control will also not work if the FSM module is not working properly. So, need to fix that, if possible.

Re: Volvo S60 - T6 | The Swedish Mr. Hyde

Welcome to the Volvo Family khan_sultan ! Congratulations on acquiring the S60 T6. I absolutely love the motor and have the same car in my friends circle, its a beast in every sense. I am glad finally someone has taken the efforts to put out the modding capabilities of Modern Volvos on Team-BHP.

As an owner of a S80 V8 & XC90 V8 have been tinkering around with the retrofits for quite a while with P3 Tools & Vdash. Have successfully able to retrofit the Digital cluster from 2016 S60 to my 08 S80 with the help of P3tools. Also have the upgraded shifter assembly from the S60 retrofitted. Both of which are possible to add to your S60 T6 as well.

Its indeed a powerhouse of a tool that lets you unlock & add OEM spec options without the need of taking it to the dealer for software upgrades or calibrations.

How long did your CEM unlock take ? Using Clone Dice tool that i acquired from Malaysia it took a cool 20 hours to unlock, had to connect a Bosch trickle charger to make sure the battery does not conk off in between the process.

Some of the mods i have planned in the future for which i am in the process of acquiring the require hardware & parts.

1. Paddle shift steering wheel
2. ACC Gen 2 - Adaptive Cruise Control
3. BLIS - Blind spot indicator system
4. ABL - Auto Bending Lights
5. Android Auto/Apple Carplay Head Unit

Congratulations once again do ping me if you need any sort of assistance with the mods, drive safe.

Re: Volvo S60 - T6 | The Swedish Mr. Hyde

Congrats, @Khan_sultan ! A 6-cyl Volvo !
The closest I have come to one is the baby of the line-up: a V40CC that I TD'd for a buddy. These are beauties !

That info screen can be polished, I think. Friend had similar issue on his Crysta and it was sorted easily. Honestly, the rest of the thread is greek and latin to me and I have skipped those parts. Looking forward to more pics.

Congratulations @Khan Sultan on this sleeper monster !
Have tried a launch on this machine with the Traction control fully off, and the way this launched with an AWD wheelspin was something i can never forget.
Its no less than a Swedish Subaru WRX
Here are a few pics from May 2024 with my S5.

WOW! The legendary Yamaha V8! Envious and happy! Also, have read good things about Warp Division in Hyderabad for Volvo related work and one day might drop in there

Yeah, these I have read/seen while researching about the tuning tools for Volvo. These tools -- P3 & VDASH make life really easy for such tuning & mod work.

Yeah, with these tools, one can do all these in a DIY mode itself. That's the beauty! I lucked out in both CEM & ECM PIN unlock. the CEM unlock took just 30 minutes and ECM as an AI assisted unlock and just 10 minutes. However, was prepared for loooooooooooooong wait times but guess it is just one of those things! Also, DICE has speeds of approx 250 keys/s and superJ2534 does 500 keys/s so that is also a consideration.

Thanks Condor! The polarizer screen of the LCD panel is scuffed and needs replacement and only polishing will not work. Unfortunately, not finding a good old school electrical/electronic shop who can do just the polarizer screen replacement. It is similar to how a mobile screen polarizer replacement would be done but sadly no one is prepared to experiment and do some hard work for this.

Re: Volvo S60 - T6 | The Swedish Mr. Hyde

Congratulations!

I test drove this same car couple of months ago, and I can't forget that drive.

The way car gathers pace and comes out from tight turns under hard acceleration is quite a revelation.

I eventually bought a 2016 T6 in Blue color, but your car with 6 cylinders and AWD is definitely more fun when driven hard.

Looking keenly to your upgrades and seek your suggestions in getting Polestar tuning for my car.

My bad! excitement got into my head and somehow came out as V6 instead of proper 6 cylinders and not wannabe's with 4 You know that I invite myself over to your place right... so be patient and let us do a drive with Volvo and GSA next. That would be fun.
