Hey buddy. Congratulations on your purchase. I took the TD of the Skoda Kylaq in Feb. Had booked the Classic variant. Overall satsfied with everything. Here are some of my observations.

I current own a Renault Kiger RXZ MT (non Turbo). Would be upgrading from that only. The power to weight of the Kylaq is one. Not to mention the safety quotient offered at this price. Fabulous. Here are some of my apprehensions/downsides which have prevented me from purchasing it:

1. Ground Clearnace is still a downer on bad roads. It is lesser than Kiger and I can see hitting the underbody on village roads which I frequently do during trips. My Kiger fares well here.

2. You mentioned that the "Aircon is a chiller. No Kushaq or Slavia like initial niggles.". However I couldn't find much difference my from Kiger which doesn't offer comfort when harsh UV rays fall through the windshield and the outside temp is above 37 degrees with extreme UV and humidity is above 40%. On a avg summer day the humidity goes upto 92% here. The cut-off is too early like my friend's Slavia 1.0 TSI. I will be going for the Base Classic variant. Would appreciate insights.

3. There's a fair bit of roadnoise into the cabin on service roads and when going over 3+ rumblers. Do you think damping (doors & floor) can fix this?

This has exactly been my experience, I own own shares of TMK and I work in Tata group myself. My sister in law owns an Altroz and my older sister sold her Punch for a Thar 4x2. The inconsistencies even though get fixed, they never stop casting that doubt of unreliability or the reigning fear of stranding you somewhere.

I have had considered the base variant of Nexon which has less electricals and hence low chances of failure, niggles or issues but it's heavily overpriced for what it offers.

1. It is definitely less than Kiger in Ground Clearance. I have not had any issues with it so far. Again, I was upgrading from a car, with much lower GC. Something you should keep in mind and check out with repeated test drives.

2. I took a backup via Obdeleven. Noticed that the default compressor on setting is 60 seconds, which was set much lower in intial Kushaq/Slavia. This seems adequate for me, so far. Will update after a few months.

3. Damping will help, but you are going to hear road noise and suspension in service roads/rumblers unless the car's suspension is very soft, which is not the case with this car.

Did you also purchase the OBDeleven OBD2 scanner? I believe it allows us to activate or deactivate features like Hill Hold.

So, the parking sensors can’t be integrated into the head unit, like how a BHPian managed on a Slavia? Are the factory rear parking sensors also not linked to the head unit?

I have got an Obdeleven, and I have not done any tweaks so far. I have just taken a backup, and have posted in Obdeleven forum, asking the developers there to make one click apps.

Activating hill hold is definitely possible in the lower variants, with Obdeleven. In automatics, I don’t think it’s needed, or it’s already enabled.

The front parking sensor the dealer provides is some basic version, which gives a audible beep, when it finds obstacles in front, and it has to be manually turned on and off with a switch they will fix on the dash. It does not integerate with headunit.

Integerating PLA parking assist into headunit, as done by a BHPian is advanced stuff, and not for the lighthearted. Maybe I will try it one day, after my car’s warranty expires :D. Reverse camera and reverse parking sensors are integrated by default.

Kylaq looks so awesome from almost all angles in this color. Skimping on 360 camera assist was definitely cutting corners by Skoda considering rear visibility is poor. Barring these small problems aside, it is on my list as well. Although, I am right now confused b/w Signature and Signature+.

I would say get the Signature+. You get the stock head unit, and some essential creature comforts.

Or get the base variant, and mod it your heart's content. Warranty be damned. :Cheering:

Does ambient light comes with single color or can be changed?

Thank you :)

The ambient light is white in colour, and the colour cannot be changed. It can be dimmed or brightened though.

Thanks for the reply. Missed it and saw it only now.

Some updates after driving the car for a bit more:

1. The AC holds up very well to Chennai heat. It has no problems cooling up the interiors within few minutes, even after the car was parked under the afternoon sun for few hours.

2. I reset the Head unit, and the audio drop issue with Apple Carplay did not recur.

3. The car behaved differently when fully loaded. Later I found out the tyre pressures for the fully loaded car were 41 and 48 for the front and rear, compared to 32 and 32 for a car with two passengers. A bit apprehensive about setting such high pressures, maybe I will try 38 for all wheels when car is fully loaded next.

4. Patient driving yields about 13 kmpl, with a mix of city and highway driving, but it's 'oh so boring' :D

5. Car got its first tyre puncture fixed today. It was a slow leak, and the Indirect TPMS flagged it.

41 and 48 is when there are 5 people plus full luggage as per the door side sticker. 35 should be okay when there are 4 people I guess. Isn't is 33 and 33 when there are just 2 people ?
