Please No Sony Xplode !!! They are useless. I would say get a Pioneer / Alpine / JVC HU. Currently these 3 are the best. Alpine is my favourite.

Why don't you ask some of our ICE gurus here.

I just went with a friend to book the 1.1 GVS. No disounts being offered here !!

Dunno but the mere idea of a 1.1 litre engine in a 1+ ton hatch puts me off... to an extent that I havent even test driven it, nor the Palio Stile.
In this segment to me AVEO UVA is the most sensible option.

Congrats on your buy, enjoy!

the thing is that the there is no perfect car in this segment!

Swift- Cramped and dull interiors!
Getz 1.3- Expensive
Aveo U-VA - Lowest mileage and worst service network among these!
Palio 1.6 - Same as U-VA
Palio 1.1 - The only positive point is that it's cheap!

Dunno about the service being the worst in its class ( a blanket statement if I may say so) but mileage surely isnt the lowest in the segment, by far. My cousin's UVA is giving him 12+ kmpl with AC even before the first service driving in delhi. I wonder if the getz 1.1 can better this mileage coz the same engine in much lighter Santro gives no more than 13-14 kmpl with AC.
Even according to mags, UVA is among the best when it comes to fuel efficiency, in its class.

These are FACTS!

1) GM is not better than Maruti and Hyundai in regards to service.

2) The U-VA overall fuel economy is 11.5 while the Getz 1.1 has 12.2.

He He cool it buddy , all facts are only as good as the driving habits and more on the traffic conditions of the city. There are posts in this forum with Swift DDIS giving mileages of 20 and even 21 in city but I am happy with my 15.5 coz i turbo her a lot. Welcome to bhp and many congrats on your new ride

From where do you came up with these numbers? The Autocar review said that 1.1's average is even lower than Getz 1.3! Let alone it being greater than UVA.
In anycase, I would readily sacrifice .7 kmpl for the extra performance and the space the UVA gives me. I find it better looking too.

P.S. Its 'my' opinion

Firstly Soumya.. congrats

One of my friend bought one few days back.. and i liked the interiors.. beige colored ones.. they look good..

and coming to Swift, i have tried 6 adults(for a 400km drive) and 7 adults(within city limits) inside my car.. it is indeed very cramped!!! i dont know what people expect in a small car? a Qalis or tata sumo ? (its a small car isnt it)

Anyways, both have their own pros and cons, and i am sure, for your requirements , you found Getz as the best match.

happy driving..do keep us posted about future events

Getz has ride, space, comfort and city driveability.

Swift has power, better handling and VFM.

What ultimately matters is that you enjoy the car. The reason why I blindly went for getz is that it has got space and a clutch pedal.

Yes, it makes it the worst among the cars we are comparing.

Another fact is that the Getz has a much bigger boot space than the u-va!

The Swift/Getz/U-VA falls in the hatchback category, and Swift is the most cramped. People atleast expect a decent boot space and for three people to sit COMFORTABLY in the rear seat for long drives. You are right that everything has it's pros and cons. Swift though has most of the things going for it except for the space and interiors
