Fiat has launched the diesel variant of Petra, 1.9 litre 63 hp , at an ex-showroom price of Rs 5.6 lakh for the basic model and Rs 6 lakh for the high-end version in Mumbai.

hey guys I am taking a close look at Petra 1.6 EL & Ikon 1.6 Exi, the difference in price is 45,000 on road in Pune. What do you guys think? I have also written a review at mouthshut.com on Fiat Petra with my experience with Palio & Petra test rides.

I am taking the decision after I test ride Ikon today. I hear it is more sporty than Petra & also better perception, interior room/Seat fabrik etc.

You can chweck Petra review here:http://www.mouthshut.com/readreview/58766-1.html

Currently, I own a Palio 1.2 ELX we bought in 2002 in Nasik. (Kamal Carlines)

hey milind,

first off, welcome to T-bhp!!!

As you say, there is a 45,000 difference between the Ikon and Petra (I'm assuming the Ikon is the more expensive one??), so on paper, the Fiat appears the better deal as you get a more powerful engine as well.

But, it all depepnds on how long you want to keep the car. The Fiat has terrible depreciation, so if you plan on selling in a couple of years, go for the Ikon. You will make back your 45,000 and more when it comes time to sell.

As far as the cars themselves go, I would prefer the Ikon myself as it looks better, drives better and as you said, also has a better image. Spacewise I think they are quite similar with the Fiat a few cm larger (maybe??).

Thanks RTech, Will keep you posted about my decision. PLanning for a back to back test ride today. [b]

It is already in the market neverclever. around 5.40 on road with Tape recorder (or 10,000 discount) depends on the city, in Mumbai you will save 17,000 rs....
