i10 : First impression EDIT : Test report on Pg. 2

After reading so much about the new i10 I really wanted to go and see it.
So, I stopped at Nimbus on my way home from office. The showroom was literally swimming with i10s. There was one in every direction. They had one TD car parked outside. One Era model and 2 Magna models on display.

The salesman was really impressed with my knowledge of all the specs and even the prices. Thanks to T-BHP :-)

I went in and sat in i10 Era. It was really a beauty with all beige interiors.
Here is a list of my observations :

Era
===
1. Excellent interiors

2. Seemed larger than it really is (probably because of beige colour)

3. Very good dashboard console with beautiful background lights.

4. The speedometer in Era model does not have any green backlight (as shown in pics). Probably it is there in Magna

5. I am 5'11'' and I pushed the seat back as far as it would go and then tried changing the levers. No problem whatsoever in shifting gears.

6. Very good finish and quality to each and every detail.

7. Provision is made in the rear doors for the speakers. I liked this since no speaker-interference while putting luggage in the boot.

I wanted to sit in Magna as well, but some wise guy was sittign there since 15 minutes. So I had to contend by sitting at the rear and by outside looks.

Magna
=====
1. Even better interiors that Era with all silver lined handles and blower vents

2. Better looking boot lid push-release button with all the chrome.

However, I am a bit concerned about the pricing. Magna Optional costs 4.74 ex-showroom. Add VAT to it and suddenly U-Va LT with 4.81 ex-showroom looks quite attractive.

I guess, Hyundai might revise the prices if it does not take off too well.

EDIT : I asked fora TD but the salesman told me that it would not be possible now but promised me one tomorrow.

It seemd adequate to me. But I guess, a TD will reveal more about space and rear seat comfort.

Good work. The car seems promising from your short review. Now for a TD.

ps - Have moved the thread to the Indian new car review section.

Nice review mate!

What worries me is that Hyundai might be forced to revise prices later but by then they may have effectively killed a good product. They should have kept it lower.

Oh I forgot to mention one thing. I was really having a feeling as if I was sitting in a Corolla due to the similar looking consoles. It was really very good.

*Whew* the car is barely launched and we already have first impressions coming in. Thanks for the thread, Shobhit!

i10 obvious has potential, and Hyundai is reverting back to their tried-and-tested Shah Rukh launch (ala Santro). Will wait for a detailed TD report.

Buttttttttttttttttttttttttt

Is that the absolute fully loaded variant?

Even if it is, it is at least 50k higher than it should be. But if the interiors are that good & the car performs, we'll have to wait & see.

The only thing Optional Magna does not have is the Sunroof !! So it is quite well Loaded.

Magna on the other hand which is the normal Model with Ac, EPS, Power Windows, Rear Wiper , Defogger and Body Coloured everything - the model likely to be sold the most is attractively priced at 3.98 Ex !!

So I would say Pricing is very very good this time by Hyundai.

Indeed Magna (O) is the sunroof version. Price expected to be around 4.9L ex showroom Delhi. (Source: Hindu)

Its horribly overpriced, the wheelbase is same as Santro, the weight is almost the same as Santro, the engine is same as santro with some tweaks, alas its a santro with clothes changed. Boooooo...........
