Anju,
I agree with you about shell and you are right about IOC/HP guys doing nasty things.

I always get 10 to 10.5 KMPL max in city when i am using any diesel be it shell or HP. My car is running on 205/50-15 (6.5J Alloys). Does the tyre upgrade drink so much extra diesel or is there something wrong with other stuff?
I did full tank test multiple times and i purposely drove sedately to test the mileage.

Shyam,
I have tried premium fuel 2 times. Not much of a difference in power and smoke was a bit more (HP turbojet).

Djay,
I am not surprised at your mileage with 10-10.5. If car is running with good driver like you and you are consistently getting this mileage then my thoery is validated.

In my books the single most important factor in above situation is tyre width/weight.
Because at end of the day, tyre is the only thing which is touching the road thus creating rolling friction. The wider the tyre ,more would be friction. Hence it consumes more power and torque to do the same effort- that is to move the car. So your pickup and mileage, and dynamic charector of car would surely be affected by wider/heavior tyre. I challenge you, I and you(195 and 205 respectively) can not beat 175/185 tyre sized Getz CRDI.

Looks apart, anything above 185 for Getz is overkill. 185 most ideal size, my cousin brother who also bought Getz CRDi using 185, so feel what it means to have 195 and 185 and can't wait drive on one 205 footware.

So your tyre is real culprit for your mileage and low pick up.

cheers
Anju

Reset the ECU once and then check your car's FE.

Anju,

My car consistently gives 15+ kmpl whereas my cousins' car rarely gives 15 +. The FE of his car mostly hovers around 14 kmpl.
Both cars run on same tires but different size. My car runs on 185/65-14 and his car runs on 195/60-14.. We tried swapping the tires but the FE didn't change.

I have 195/55 R15s on my car, and got about 13 in the first fill, and 14+ on the second. This is with 80% City driving with a/c all the time, and before the first service (which is due sometime next week )

btw, on the Bangy meet for Getz CRDi- we should not have threads for car-specific meets, so what now? lets exchange phone numbers and meet up??

Prajesh
You & my cousin have 185- consistently giving 15+(my friend has 175 it gives same)
Your Cousin and I have 195- Hovers around 14(12-15) with Shell mine now is(14-15).
Djay has 205- Its giving 10-11

So there is some good data from good car geeks...

Cheers
Anju

Hey anju you did not consider the point that kp's car is peted . So i expect his car to give atleast 0.5kmpl lesser compared to stock car.

KP,
I will definitely visit HSS and ask them to reset ECU. Does this make any difference?
I am just asking for my knowledge purpose.

kpzen,
in your case doesnt the speedo error count (1.11 % for 195/60 & 2 % for 185/65) while checking the FE ?.

I have few questions for the Getz CRDI owners.

Does Getz crdi have the VGT ? Does it kick off at 2k like how verna does ?
What was the price OTR in bangalore when you folks brought it ?
When was Getz crdi phased out ?
Are they still available with hyundai dealers ? ( any left overs ?)

Getz Crdi.

Yes, Getz Crdi has a VGT engine. I too was following all the threads and finally decided to take the plunge . I booked a Getz CRDI yesterday fully aware that it is going to be discontinued and I dont think there would be any issues regarding the service for the next couple of years.

The price is very tempting and with the power of the car, other thoughts just " fly by ". May be my car would be the last of the CRDI's. The color chosen was Dark Grey.

kaushal have you seen the car you have booked ? I'm asking this because i had read somewhere on tbhp, that a member was cheated by the dealer after taking the booking + loan amount. The car, Getz cRDI was never delivered.

There are only a few pieces left here and there, there is no "in transit" or "ordering" process with getz crdi now. Therefore its best to see the car at the stockyard, showroom of the dealer who claims to have it and then pay the booking amount.

Hi AzA,

Through a reliable source from the dealer side , I was told that the last batch of cars which were booked under the INR 4.99 lacs ex-showroom are to be produced and then delivered. These cars would be produced in a limited lot number and to acheive these numbers, the dealers have taken the few additional bookings. In fact I was given a choice of colors as well at the time of booking.

The cars are to be delivered by this month end or early next month.
