Very good FE from Spark

iIts now one month and app 500kms report on FE of spark . Initially I was getting mleage of 10 km/L with 50 % of AC use on Mumbai Road . After about 200 kms of run I cahnged my driving style and tried to move the car in 4rth gear as much as possible. I shift now to 4rth gear normally above 35km/h speed .I am now getting a FE of app 14.5-15 Km/Litre on Mumbai roads with 50% AC use .Combined with splendid ride quality , I feel spark with FE of anything around 14KM/L was a splendid purchase .

Binoy, its nice to hear about spark's mileage. I am getting around 12 in city and 15 on highways.
As i already said, try to change engine oil after 1000KM.
Engine will become even smoother and will get you good FE.

nice to hear reassuring user review. Are you driving very sedately. How does the power feel. is it adequate for highways too.

Sorry if I dont sound very enthusiastic about Spark giving 14kmpl. But do you expect it to give less than that !! ..

My rusty old Baleno gives 14kmpl. Its a lot bigger, has technology from the 18th century and is far more powerfull. 14kmpl is the LEAST that Spark should give !!

not the Matiz, which had claimed mileage of 25kpl under test conditions & normally around 18-21. The spark even with a 200 cc bigger mill should give around 15.

@spadival: your baleno gives 14 even with 50% ac?

Dude his spark is not completely run-in. If he is getting 14KMPL now then his FE will easily go up to 16 after 2nd or 3rd service.

Your rusty old baleno is run-in probably thrice (3 centuries old ). So you are getting 14.

100% A/C.. But my daily commute is along the Mumbai-Bangalore highway and on roads with less traffic (Dehu road). So you can treat it as highway milage.

That explains a lot. If its 16kmpl after run in, its pretty decent.

One thing to note that the avg .mileage of 14 km/l is on Mumbai road in city , with lot of traffic signals and about 40% drive in bumper to bumper traffic condition .

I would say I have often been driving with 4 persons on board , power is adequate, I can say the ride is a joy . Only on the steep rise , when AC is on and and vehicle is quite slow , you feel some pressure on engine and you need to rave it up a little . In the price range (3.56 lacs on road with AC and PS), i feel its a very good car , as compared to competitions.
