Bug deflector - don't think so.

I don't think that the wiper plates are there as a bug deflector. It surely has some purpose though.

I think it is to help maintaintain the pressure of the blade on the windscreen. There may be chances of flowing air lifting the blade.
The next question will be why is it only on one blade. I am stumped

Wow another Safari! There should be a separate thread now for Tbhpians owning Safari. Congrats.
Only in Mumbai I find less / very few Safaris on roads. Its has still not caught fancy of commuters as yet. I have heard that its improved for city traffic - anyone can share personal experience in city ( heavy traffic) drive.

Hi Shatrughna, I'm regularly using my Safari on Mumbai roads without any issues.
I frequently travel within the werstern suburbs Andheri. Initially I was apprehensive with regard to the size and maneurability in traffic. But I surprisingly find autos and bikes automatically giving me space. Also the lower gears are well suited to stop and go traffic. With towering road prescence,excellent cooling, optimum cabin noise insulation and not to forget the Alpine HU it is easy to get oblivious to the outside traffic congestion.
The wide windscreen and high seat position along with the large OVRM's gives one an excellent all round view and judgement of the vehicle.
Only issue is regarding parking. I have to hunt for a suitable spot and park cautiously. Getting used to that too. Finding the reverse camera a great help.

you just got delivry of the 2.2 right- there was some talk on the 2.2 getting "roof integrated" rear blowers - but from the pictures it looks like its still the regular blower?

There was a rumor that 2.2L will get like what Grande has.

TATA has evolved a lot. and the new one has nil issues, except for quality of interior.

Thanks you guys for all your wishes!

Here are my initial reactions from the 2.2 experience till now,
- power delivery is very smooth and its an absolute pleasure to drive on a highway.
- As pointed out by many owners, engaging the 1st gear and reverse will take some amount of practice. But then its not a major issue.
- When steering is turned full round then there is a faint squeeking sound ( will have to deal with that for 1st service)
- Reversing the car will take some practice as there is a huge blind spot behind right below the spare wheel. (camera is definitely required). You might end you crushing an 800 or alto and not even know about it.

- the gear knob feels a bit rough on the hands (will have to change it)
- Clutch has a bit longer play than most UVs. Takes some time to get used to it.

How does the immobilizer work in the EX? And, what does the remote key do, if there is one, that is, besides just locking/unlocking the doors? Is it the sound-alarm type?

You have to buy a cable from alpine. Alpine calls it a Full SPeed cable for Ipod.
