Palio Multijet first service review-1440 Km

Hi All,
I own a red palio multijet SDX and I just got it's first service done this saturday at 1440 km on the odo.

Here are some of my experiences.
First of all the issues that i found with my palio before the service was done
Issues
Hand brake lever needs to be pulled up hard otherwise the car moves if standing on a slope
Left indicator lever doesn't come up automatically on small left cuts
Gear shift from 4th to 5th is not smooth
External noise when AC in on is high

Positives
My car returned an average of around 18 (50% city, 50% highway with AC on for around 60 % of the time). so that is around 16 in city and 20 on highways.
The car is solid.
Space is ample. Most of my friends feel that this is a major drawback in swift. The rear is cramped.
AC is very good....the swift AC doesn't chill like palio

I went to vivek auto at around 09:30 a.m and the service person promised to get the car serviced by 12:30p.m. He gave me an estimate of Rs500 (Bardahl oil supplement). I enquired about the car status at 12:00p.m and got the response that the car has been serviced but the car washing equipment has gone faulty. It may require 1-2 hours more. I told him that i will get the car washed some other day. Some other people who had come for their car service told me that it's a common problem at the workshop.
So i paid Rs500 for the oil supplement and drove back home.

The hand brake & gear shift problem is sorted out but the left indicator problem is still there. May be i will observe it more and if it still persists, then i will get it rectified in 2nd service.

The engine feels much smoother now. I just did a fulltank and will check on the mileage aspect again.

Good to know you are enjoying your Palio MJD.
Sometimes Indicator lever doesn't come back on small left/right cuts, I guess thatz how it is.

JK, they didn't change engine oil, but added some engine supplement/additive.

I have noticed this additive being promoted at almost all service centers. Is it of any good or is it another way to justify the free service which is done free?
Dont they change the engine oil at 1000 for the fiats,Maruti does it for swift diesel.

Me Too!

Got my Palio MJD SDE Serviced from Vivek Auto Mathura Road today. Left Indicator problem was much more severe (would not cancel unless one turned full lock!), so got the console repaired under warranty.

You can read other details from my complete Service Review in the First 200 km with Palio Stile 1.3 MJD thread.

I should say my service experience was a bit better then yours, but you must have got it serviced at the other workshop because I definitely didn't meet you today!

the indicator not getting off on small turns is normal. My Palio and UNo needs a much larget turn for the return lock to engage. While in the ford fusion the return lock comes into action at very small movements. Guess its old technology at work. I suggest you dont let those guys fiddle with these things unless you are pretty sure that they know what they are doing.

The idea is not to engage the indicator in lane changes or very small turns. Just hold the lever to the direction and release when done. It works in all Marutis. The lever disengages to normal only when the steering turns full or atleast half.

Can you put some more details on your experience with the service guys @ tata motors? After sales service is one of the major concerns every one here is having..
May be a more detailed review on how the service guy approached your problems!!

Not sure which is old and which is new. Most Maruti's have their return lock engaged at 15 degrees, while the Fords have it at around 10 degrees.
Not sure of a Palio though.

Good FE there, enjoy your ride. Did they change engine oil or they just added the bardahl additive, if so did you check the engine oil levels? Hope its within max levels.
