Did you say 'Long drive experience', can you be specific??? I am not an expert in english or in disposing cool dialogues while writing big test drive reports. I usually answer short and specific.

Hi.

What is the mileage for you?

Mileage:

I have driven 2600 km till date.

Highway, I can easily get 18kmpl if I cruise around 80 - 90 kmpl.
City, 12 kmpl. I am unable to get more than that.

Thats surprising. I thought Astar had better mileage claims than Alto!!!

I get over 22 on highways (with AC) on my Alto Lxi. In the city I get over 16 (mixed AC use ~ 75% of the time).

I have to say I drive in Noida (not much traffic although lots of broken roads). Probably in a place like Blore I might not get this much.

Read the first 2 pages and then jumped to the last. Somethings really surprise me.
-People want the A-Star & Estilo to be phased out but still think the Wagon R is a great car. How come no one has noticed it does not have ABS and Airbags. Afterall they are requirements in this segment too.
-Fuel efficiency. Tell me which small car other than the Alto give good FE. It's just a myth the all Maruti's are fuel efficient. People seem to be content with 12-13 from a small car. Even big cars give you that much.
-Maruti should have replaced the following cars with the following
Old Zen - A-Star
Wagon R - Estilo
800 - Alto
Now before the old Zen lovers start jumping, if you're looking for more space than the A-Star, then there's the Swift for you.

I was looking for a new small car for my wife. Finally zeroed in on the Alto LXi. Will start a new thread soon.

Maruti A-Star colour query

Hi Guys.

I booked my A-star Vxi today. Still haven't decided on the colour though and need to call my dealer and confirm the colour by tomorrow.

The thing is, that i like the Healing Green color (all colors are here: Colors :: Maruti Suzuki A-star) but the dealer tells me that its an experimental color and is not selling much. He says its not uncommon for such non selling colors to be discontinued later.

My query is that if i do go ahead and buy the healing green color, and tomorrow it is discontinued, could i face a problem in getting parts of the car painted whenever needed? or could there be any other unforeseen problem? I dont care about the resale price as i intend to keep the car for long.

If you want, you can have a look at the color here:

About the car..i fell in love with it with the first drive, very responsive engine, cozy cabin, easy to maneuver around the city and of course v good mileage expected.
I'll be driving it alone or with a passenger in the front seat so dont care about the cramped rear seats. the boot is big enough to hold beer crates and my tent which is enough for me..

As long as you are happy with the colour, go for it!

Maruti carries an obligation to support your car for 10 years. I don't foresee any problem with denting / accidental repairs.

I heard from few owners that A star FE is not that good as claimed. Which makes the car even less VFM, already there are two big -ves, Rear space & boot.

Infact, my friend gave me his A Star when he was away for 2 weeks and I drove it only in the city with very minimal usage of the AC and all i could manage was 14.7 kmpl. I checked this via the tank full to tank full method.

The car has over 5,000 click on the odo. Well, 5,000+ kms means it is fully run-in car so that can't be a reason for poor FE. Even if the AC was not used, I don't think the FE would have increased drastically.

14.7 kmpl is not even close to the company (and ARAI) claimed figure of 19+ kmpl.

Cheers,
gpa

Recent advertisements of A Star seen in newspapers in Kerala show mileage as 35+ in bold!
