Ajanta of Mumbai also manufactures one which is around Rs. 16,000/-, but their distributor in Pune tells me the size is bigger for Vista. I don’t know their quality also. What are my options? Any inputs will be helpful.
Had a look at Thule roof box yesterday. This model 'Ocean 100' will fit Vista. Retailer here in Pune tells me it would be approx. 15K to 17K with all fittings which includes bars on which the box sits. The quality is good and opening is very easy. Box is 12 Kg.

No bars from Thule to fit Tata vehicles

Methods informs me (via the retailer in Pune) that they do not have bars for Vista and/or Indigo. I will have to procure bars locally and then box can be fitted. Mail from Methods:

Quote:
Thule does not have any solution for both the vehicles.

They can fit bars of a local make of carrier and they fix the thule box on it

Ocean 100 – 16000 MRP

API-CH4+MB228.3 or higher grade Castrol GTX Diesel, HPCL HP Milcy No.1 TGO, Exxon Mobil-Mobile Super 1000M 5.5 Litres
these are the recommended oils.

Of course, there is nothing stopping you from trying out better oils. Delvac MX ( tried out myself, better than GTD - still to see if its better than GTX D) or Chevron Delo 400

Upgrade on ICE and Central Locking

Added JBL 396 in parcel tray in addition to four speakers in doors. I was not hapy with the quality I was getting from four door speakers; due to resrtiction on size.

The MDF tray houses speakers in elavated boxes, so underside of tray is free from protruding magnet and screws. I can disconnect wires and remove the tray whenever I want to.

Added Crosslink Wheels central locking module. The central locking on key is OE, but I wanted convinience of remote.

Also added up moduler for power windows from RD. (The windows roll up when I lock the car with remote now) Have a good experience of this product in my XL.

have tried the delvac MX on my NA indica. Didnt really notice any diff. over the HP Milcy. though felt better than the castrol GTD & GTX . In fact felt the valvoline all climate api- cf4 felt quite good.
Shall try the MILCY NO.1 TGO this time , had used milcy super / premium or such before, thought was quite good.

Got DVD! And reverted back to OE central locking.

After adding JBL in MDF tray as mentioned in the last post; replaced the HU with JVC KD_DV5505 (5506 in some countries). It's DVD, front USB and front AV in unit. Plays video files from USB as well. My existing JVC steering remote works with this HU. There are 30 preset coloured to choose from and one can cutomise the colour by mixing RGB if that's not enough.

Next to buy is roof mounted 9" screen. I have shortlisted JVC KV-MR9010.

I removed the remote locking unit added to OE central locking as it was giving some trouble to OE system.

Good to read your posts Bouncer. Has RD started marketing upmodules (window glass relays) specifically for Vista? On my last enquiry a few months ago they hadn't started it. Or did you get the relay for another make of car and suited it for the Vista? Were any wires spliced or cut?

This product is not car specific. There is no need for the relay to be car specific. The connecting socket can be car specific. That's why they sell the socket separately.

When I installed the relay, the socket was in short supply. So I had to cut the wires.

Bouncer, where did you get this parcel tray? This is nice idea to put speakers at elevated position to save the space below.

Sushant, I got this tray from Eagle at Sanewadi, Aundh. The shop was previously known as Nicole. Ownership and name changed last year. Let me know if you want directions to the place.
