Getting the New A-Star today EDIT : Delivery taken

Finally after days of moving around in the market , browsing at all options (i-10 , Swift, Wagon-R, Spark even the i20) i decided to opt for the A-star ZXi.
After having driven Maruti Wagon R for the last 3 years and esteem before that.. i am confident of a Maruti serving me again faithfully.
To state my needs, i was looking for a city vehicle which is good on FE, pleasure to drive DAILY to work and back, good feature and looks, Weekend outings with my family (wife and two small angels). The A-star suited my needs the best.
I agree with many of the other posts which truly depicts the negatives of the A-star viz.
1] Cramped rear seat - Leg room for the rear passenger is less, but not cramped as what is said about.. infact i checked practically and concluded that at a Normal driving position of a driver (5.6 ht driver) the rear seat provided enough leg room to a (5.10 ht passenger). (similar to a wagon r). Yes.. the Third person at the back means its a tight fit... but arent all maruti hatchbacks face the same issue.. maybe not in the swift...
2] Boot - SMALL or may be non existance... but i do not carry suitcases to work everyday.. so not an issue (atleast not in city drives) for long vacation drives.. yes.. boot space will be missed .. but as per my calculation... the A-Star will accomodate 1 suitcase less than the wagon r in the boot. (my wagon r accomodated 1 large suitcase or 2 suitcases and 2 small bags..)
I could have opted for the Maruti Swift but since i drive 60 kms everday FE was something which A-star wins over the SWIFT. Swift diesel definitely would have been a great option for me.. but 8 weeks waiting and a 1.5 lac more was not worth it...
i-10 kappa was also a great option but again the A-star wins on FE, cost and features on the ZXI. The legroom is almost as similar in a A-star maybe some inches better in i-10.. but seating 4 is comfortable in A-star too... Boot in i-10 is better yes... but the same argument with the wagon r won me over.
The A-star in drive - Much refined engine , excellent gear shift ( better than the swift and i-10 and much better than the wagon -r ), better ratios and better suspension. Very responsive than the i-10... i guess similar to a swift.

Well am getting delivery today... Hope to hear your comments......

congrats for newone.

you have chosen right car.
almost 90% of time, car is driven by lone driver going to office.
5% time, car is packed with family comprising couple and two kids without luggage.
remaining 5% time, car is packed with family and luggage.
those 90-5-5 ratio do not apply to actual run of car in kilometers.
looking at above figs, i think alto, a-star, spark are best cars.
anyway, congrats again and do post pics.

Congrats! A-Star is one of the best city cars with fresh design, great FE and cool features. I agree the boot is inexistent.

Happy Driving

Dealer - SAI Service
Color - Paradise Blue
Discount - ZERO - New car ---it seems
Extra Accessories - ZERO -- not allowed by Maruti it seems to avoid dealer fights
Waiting Period - 8 days
No free accessories from dealer - but timely delivery (in 8 days),

Cost - 463000 + 4300 xtended warrantty (MUL 2 years ) dealer offered his own extended warrantty for 5600 instead of MUL warrantty which covered more parts .. but i declined...
Cost of accessories - 20% to 50% high than other MUL dealers... hence no accessories from SAI SERVICE

Congrats Hemal. The car looks good. And yes.. happy driving

That petal/flower thingie is a trademark of Sai Service ? Saw it on a couple of other cars in Bombay. Guess you can peel it off

Cool car color and very nice pics.
Enjoy the drive!
Do let us know about the mileage you actually get as this is supposed to be one of the strong points for the car.

I think A-star makes a lot of sense. Its fun to drive in the city, very comfortable front seats and gr8 suspension and FE!

Congrats patelhemals! Thats a nice colour as well

Enjoy
