Help: Suspension Noise in Hyundai i10

Hi all,

When I was driving to work today, I noticed a strange noise from the rear suspension of my i10. There is a "tak tak" noise when the suspension is pressed beyond a limit. The noise does not appear over small pot holes.

Also, when I press the back of the car manually, or try to wobble it, the noise appears. It has come all of a sudden. I'm not able to figure out if its something with the wheel or the suspension. Any insight ?

Please advise.

Friends,

The journey began on 29th of January 2009. The 1 year journey has been of mixed experiences. On the whole it has been thoroughly enjoyable.

I'm coming up with an Initial ownership report. There are already many ownership reports on TBHP including the great ones by svaid and carzest

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-t...ip-report.html

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-t...ip-report.html

I do not have anything that is too different or do not have much to Flaunt but I certainly want to pen down things from my perspective.

I will keep the writing to a minimum and will post more pictures.

I have divided my views into 6 categories.

1. Standard: The standard ones on all i10s 1.1L and 1.2L
2. Variant: The ones specific to my variant - 1.2 L Sportz
3. Extra: The add-ons fitted.
4. Small but good: Small thoughtful ones that are really useful
5. Small but bad: Minor niggles that sometimes make you Fret.
6. Finally the Maintenance report

The photos are being post processed and I'll begin the report very soon.

Excellent reviews, @para_7k.
Waiting for more pics on PVC mats. Is this glued to the floor permanently ? I was ignorant about this type of mat. Looks pretty neat.
What's your opinion of tyre upgrade ? What's the pressure you have on it.

Thanks rk. The PVC mats are glued to the floor above the OE carpets.
If you're using this, You should be very careful not to ride through water logs. If your carpets get soiled, both PVC mats and carpets will be damaged in the cleaning process.

You can also see that in boot in one of my images. It covers the entire floor. Do you need further pics ?

If you own a Non-ABS variant, I say tyre upgrade is a must. The stock bridgestones are terrible on grip. The XM1+ have improved my ride, handling and more importantly braking. They are of extreme help when you have to brake in wet, gravel or muddy areas.

I maintain 32 psi all around.

EDIT: If you do not want to change the rims, you can get grippy tyres in the same size 155/80 R13.

Yes, Please post more pics of the mat.
Forgot to mention that, i did upgrade the tyres to the same size what you have. Agree with your reviews about the tyre upgrade. Extremely confident on highways because of it.
I maintain 33 psi, so i felt it was little bouncy. Let me try 32 psi.
