Booked my Indica Vista Quadrajet Aura - Cavern Grey!

The deal details:

Corporate Discount: 8000
Free Central Lock Remote: 3910 (Autocop)

Registration is tomorrow and the I am taking delivery on Monday.

Below information cannot be obtained from anywhere else:
Dealer Margin: 15490
Corporate Discount: 3000 (Dealer 3000, Tatamotors 5000)
Remote: 3910
Total dealer Profit: 15490 - 3000 - 3910 = 8580

And also the insurance amount quoted by HDFC, ICICI, Reliance, New India was 14110 and by AIG would be 14610.

If anyone in Chennai wants a quote from Cholamandalam, let me know. I will be glad to help you out on that.

Its Raining Vistas! Congratulations!

And thats a meager profit margin of about 1%.
No wonder dealers make the most in after sales

Thanks rrsteer and safari_lover!
This is not the only profit a dealer gets.
This is the direct profit from the sale of the car.
The dealers get around 3% of the amount financed by the financier as commission.
They also get 10-15% of the Insurance amount.

In my case I didnt opt for the insurance recommended by the dealer and I saved 5K and the dealer lost the commission. Hence he is not giving me the door and dickey mats. (which he said he wouldd give free initially!!)

By the way how much do they cost?

Congratulations! The Vista is a heck of a hatch, and that engine is...well...a heck of a diesel! Killer combination, I love the Vista Quadrajet.

Do keep us updated with delivery pictures & an ongoing ownership report. Don't forget to take our pre-delivery inspection checklist with ya.

Thanks GTO!
I already have a copy of the PDI and also a list of issues that have been posted in T-Bhp by other owners.
I did talk in detail with the sales person about all the issues and he said that all those have been corrected. But still will be verifying the same with "our" checklist!

And also the sales guy says that I dont need to add speakers for better performance of the ICE. He says that the ICE is a good one and the only thing needed is an AMP.
Anybody can help me decide on this? I still have 4 days to decide on this.

aavi

3000Kms Report of my Car

Hi All,

My first service is done and after that I have driven 3000Kms till now.
First let me list down the problems!
- Combination wiring is probably suspect. Every time i switch the right indicator, all the lights go off. Sometimes the lighting flickers and comes back. Told that this was a problem during my 1st service but has not been rectified. I am taking the car again.
- Front hood was not closing correctly, got it rectified during first service
- Passenger Left rear door was very tight and the cetral locking was not working correctly. Central locking issue was corrected during first service. but is still tight esp. when opened from outside.
- City Mileage I am getting is only 14.5Km/litre. 100% AC and 35 kms daily drive.
Any suggestions here to improve the mileage?
I havent tested the car on long drives yet. So not sure about highway mileage.
- My Car stereo also has some problem After playing for some time, the player stops playing and an eerie sound can be heard on all speakers. I am suspecting the wiring as the cause for this as well. Need to check.

Other than these issues, I am ok with the car.
Performance, comfort all good. Braking little bit of a let down.

Hi,
The Vista should definitely deliver more than 14.5kmpl in city traffic. Is this measured on a tankful to tankful basis? Have you tried to change fuel pumps (Petrol bunks) and check? Does the car feel like it is smooth when moving? Do you maintain proper tire pressure? Above all, are you at the right gear while driving?

A few of these checks should certainly improve your Vista's mileage to a great extent..

Mileage Tips - My response

The Vista should definitely deliver more than 14.5kmpl in city traffic.
>> Yeah I was also expecting around 16kmpl
Is this measured on a tankful to tankful basis?
>> Yes. It is tank full to tank full
Have you tried to change fuel pumps (Petrol bunks) and check?
>> I dont think I want to try this. I am currently filling at Shell. The best I can get.
Does the car feel like it is smooth when moving?
>> I am not sure on this
Do you maintain proper tire pressure?
>> Tyre pressure I have is 30(F) and 28(R). I drive single always. Is this the right tyre pressure for mileage. Vista recommends 30-35(F) and 28-32(R)
Above all, are you at the right gear while driving?
>> I always drive between 1500-2000 RPM in each gear.
That translates to
1st Gear - 20KM
2nd Gear - 30KM
3rd Gear - 40KM
4th Gear - 60KM
5th Gear - 70-80KM

Guys, let me know your suggestions on this!!

Dear try following tyre press
F-32-33(Good gauge)
R-30

Tyre press itself may not give better mileage but may help you getting better feel of car.

BTW when did you change Oil? if you have changed at all.
Cheers

The latest What car has a comparison of all the 1.3 MJD powered hatches, and the Vista took first place!
I could not get my wife to agree to a Tata car, and I understand where she is coming from. But I was very impressed by the rear seat feel - it feels like a car two segments up for rear seat comfort, and the feel of space is very refreshing. The other issue I had with the car was that I was looking for a very small car to drive in the city, and small the Vista is not.
It looks like a great all round car for India though, just what the Indica should have been and was not - which is why only the taxi trade bought the bulk of Indicas made in the last ten years.
Good luck with your car, other than small niggles, I read that the car is proving to be very reliable and comfortable.
I am also guessing that FE will improve over time.
