FE is the most amazing part of the so called underpowered 1.3MJD. You will enjoy the same kind of mileage for long.

Vibration! well its a diesel, with good FE vibration will invariably come as "dowry" with diesel engines.

Tyre noise: well, ask the experts for the best shoes for Linea.

Well hope so, on the FE front.

I can do with the vibration bit, that does not bother as much as the tyre noise. Noise is just down-right irritating, cause of bad insulation, if there was a way to reduce that.

What air pressure in tyres are you keeping ?

Fiat manual says 2.3 bars in front & 2.1 bars in rear tyre in COLD conditions in NORMAL load. In hot conditions (i.e. tyres are hot after running -which is usually the case with us when we got the air filled), one has to add 0.3 bars in above. Applying conversion multiplier of 14.5 - from bars to psi - you get following:

Normal Load

Front (in bars) Rear (in bars) Front (in psi) Rear (in psi)
Cold 2.3 2.1 33 30
Hot 2.6 2.4 38 35

38 & 35 psi seems to be on a very higher side. am thinking of maintaining 34 psi in front & 31 psi in rear. What say?

34 front and 31 rear seems all right. However I think the diesel is heavier than the petrol so one should keep that in mind as well

PICS Ahoy !

Hello,

Apologies for getting the pics uploaded so late, did not find the time to re-size the hi-rez shots. I did not know it was so difficult to take shots of a black car even with my Leica optics, especially the reflection of trees.

I have yet to take full-car long shots in open area without trees, have taken close-ups of the exteriors and the parts the love the most, the front and the rear light assemblies.

Hope you guys like it.

Looks great. And yes you will need to work out how to get good pics without the reflections on the black surface. The alloys look really nice. Congrats on a great buy. Cheers.

Black was my first choice ( i had got a black snatro before) but got red all because of my mother who considers black inauspicious. She tells me black is the reason for me having so many hits in santro

Well, my wife thought that for me as well, but infact since the Black Linea has come, (touchwood), its been fantastic for me even from the business perspective, so I think its more subjective. I think black color is the color of Lord Shani..and Shani is the planet of giving in abundance and taking in abundance.

Xplora

Why your Linea still shows a plate with "Applied for Registration"? Reason why i am asking is that I believe Ahmedabad dealers usually give delivery with RTO passing done.

Good question. Yes the dealer had all the RTO passing etc. done, but since I wanted a specific number, it was not in the current series that is going around, so had to wait a few days for that, I have got a strange KA series number now.

Secondly, they gave me the plates, few days back but it had the dealer name on the plate ! ie "**** Cars" , looked like I am driving that dealer's taxi or using their rent-a-car. So have given the new plates for making. And yes the pics were taken a few days back.

Oops. I remember a few years back Ahmedabad Dealers used to imprint MFR logo/ Dealer name on left side of the number plate occupying almost 20% of the number plate.

BTW, my dealer has given a very very ordinary number plate. Am not to concerned with it but I now think they should give atleast a decent number plate not very special but decent & slightly better to go with a Rs. 8 Lacs car
