Thanks for sharing the details. I should have been clear while asking, as the question is specific to i10 Auto. In both L2 and O/D - I do not see anything happening, nor the A.S.S guys could explain. I am planning to take the car to another service center, But I thought I will ask this to the i10 Auto owners prior to that.

Hi, I have a question (for i10 Auto users).
How does the O/D button in the gear lever work? Also, What is L2? I do not see any changes it makes - I may be using it wrongly. |
This is only for hyundai i10 A/T:
O/D button in the gear lever is a toggle switch. If you press it, you would see the words 'O/D off' in the warning lights area.
The Hyundai i10 AT gearbox is a 4 speed gearbox with 1 overdrive gear ratio.
O/D off means that the gearbox shall limit itself to only first 3 gears.
This is useful if you are in slow to medium traffic and do not want to upshift/downshift constantly to the 4th gear.
L2 limits the gearbox to only the first 2 gears. useful in slush/snow driving
L limits the gearbox to only the first gear. useful in slush/snow driving.
For 95% of driving in normal cities - the D mode is enough.

Thanks for the very clear explanation. I think I need to start using O/D properly.
Finally parted ways with our Hyundai i10 Automatic last week after owning it for 7 years and 8 odd months with 45,000 kms on the ODO. Ever since i read here on team-bhp that the i10 model has been discontinued, we consciously decided to sell the car. Mechanically sound but various niggles, some due to old age. Anyways, the hunt for a sub-10 lac car begins to give company to my Vento Automatic (Just 16 odd k/s in 5 years 8 months). Watch this space!
P. S. Mods, you can now close this thread.
Hello,
Can anybody please let me know if the Hyundai i10 AT had creep mode?
I've plans to buy a pre-owned Hyundai i10 Auto from Spinny.
How were the shifts? Were they jerky as an AMT?, do you experience head-nods?
I'm yet to find one for a test drive.

Hi Arun,
The i10 AT has a creep mode. Slot into D, lift off the brake pedal and the vehicle will crawl without any A pedal input.
The gear shifts are seamless with a gentle A pedal input, floor it and you will notice the gear shifts. But nothing jerky or unpleasant.
Regards
Nikhil

Hi, csnanjappa! Good morning! :)
I'm planning to get a used "i10 Auto" from Spinny. Hence I was obviously curious to know how is your car holding up, if you still own it?
Regards,

I still have it with me(1.2 lacs in odometer). It's doing good now as a second car, mostly my wife uses it. Thought of selling it but don't have the energy to go through the process. Once had car24 visit for estimation and did not respond back to them. Not had any considerable issues so far, the ICE screen has become faded and the volumes buttons act cranky. Other than that, I had rat eating of fuel pipe and had to be replaced locally. There are tons of scratches, yet to plan about repainting.
